00:00Back in training camp, it was Alec Anderson said he's like the fun uncle.
00:04Then the Bills kind of like wanted to get out ahead of that.
00:06Not like Brady.
00:08He has the respect of the players.
00:09When he's talking about C.J. Gardner-Johnson and laying out how we welcome players like that,
00:14he very quickly at the end throws in, and I'm not afraid to address it.
00:18He wants to be the player's coach, but he also has to let the fans know,
00:23you know, it's still my show to some degree.
00:27Yeah, he's evolving.
00:29There's no doubt.
00:30And he's still trying to find his way, and it's really hard.
00:34I mean, none of us can really appreciate the level of difficulty that goes into that role as a head
00:41coach.
00:43But can you be all things to all people?
00:46No.
00:46But the one thing I think you have to be foundationally is true to the vision, the plan,
00:53back to what do you stand for?
00:55What is your, you know, what's your core, what's your core belief?
01:00What's your view of how this program runs?
01:04You know, wins and losses, everything else, a part of that.
01:08But there's a foundational thing.
01:09My question, Jeremy, is how was that established?
01:13Like, what were the conversations like?
01:15There were conversations, even if he was earmarked for the job, which I firmly believe there was no doubt it
01:21was going to go that way.
01:22But that's one part of it.
01:24The other part of it is, what did he say or what did he present to ownership, especially Terry?
01:32And I'm going to say Brandon Bean to another extent, because the kinds of conversations they had when he took
01:38the head coaching job during this interview phase are different than the ones they were having while he was a
01:45coordinator, right?
01:46And then there is the how much of the change has to come about that makes this program different from
01:56Sean McDermott.
01:57And that's the part that I'm kind of a little not sure of, because we know what Sean's behavioral standard
02:06was, generally speaking, and that it was pretty firm.
02:09And it felt to me like Joe, especially at his introductory press conference, appreciated, respected what Sean was about, went
02:18out of his way to acknowledge that he gave him the opportunity.
02:21But maybe that's what it just was, giving him the opportunity.
02:24How much of the, quote, head coaching program that Sean put in place seeped into Joe's thinking?
02:33And by the way, Sean wasn't the only head coach he's been around.
02:37We know, and the other Sean Payton, other head coaches, other influences he's had.
02:41So the, I don't know, the aggregation of that, has it given him like the real sense of how to
02:48do a program where you can be the guy the players draw energy from,
02:54but also be the guy they respect.
