00:03Here's my contact info
00:05And a little for your trouble
00:06Call me as soon as you get news
00:12I can seize this huge windfall
00:15But I need to find the perfect timing
00:27Hungry? Try this
00:31Mmm, delicious
00:38Right, I got some things done at the factory last night
00:44Look
00:49You're amazing, Felix
00:54That's nothing
00:55I also settled things at the supply depot for the wedding
00:57For the wedding, he's covering the smokes, drinks, sweets, and tea
01:01From now on, our lives will only get better
01:09Take this rice and meat
01:11Share it with Auntie and Jamie
01:12Build up your strength
01:13Felix, this is too much
01:15You're out working every day
01:17You need it more
01:18We haven't even finished the rice from last time
01:19We still have some left
01:20Is spending on family a waste?
01:23Besides, if I fatten you up
01:24It makes me look good
01:25Hey, who wants to be fat?
01:32Fine, not fat
01:34My Faye looks beautiful either way
01:43Missed me while I was in the mountains?
01:47I did
01:50Missed you too
01:52Smooth talker
01:54Let me go
01:55My mom's waiting
02:02Oh, Felix walking Faye home again?
02:04She'll be your wife soon
02:06Spoiling her, huh?
02:09All right, see ya
02:18Marty, come on in
02:23Felix, you're here too
02:24Great, I was looking for you
02:39Wild ginseng root?
02:40Yeah, dug it up today
02:41At the shady slope of Old Brooks
02:43Felix, I heard you know
02:44The county senior official
02:45Could you ask him for me
02:46How much this would sell for?
02:47We're totally out of food at home
02:49The kid's crying from hunger
02:57Look at this head and roots
02:59At least 40 or 50 years old
03:00A top quality fresh dig, too
03:02Uncle Brooks, how much do you want for it?
03:10300
03:11Or 200
03:12I just need food to survive
03:14Uncle Brooks
03:16If I'd bought this for 300
03:18I'd be totally ripping you off
03:20This is 40 to 50 year old
03:21Wild fresh ginseng
03:22To someone who needs it
03:24To stay alive
03:24We could name a high price
03:26Close to 1,000 bucks
03:27Is entirely possible
03:31$1,000?
03:35Felix, I don't need that much cash
03:37I just want enough food for the kids
03:39Installments work, too
03:41I'll take the ginseng first
03:42And find a big buyer
03:43As for the food emergency
03:44I'll figure something out tonight
03:57Haven't sold the ginseng yet
03:58I took some food from the factory's supplies
04:01To tide you over
04:02Go on
04:02Take it inside
04:08Cornmeal
04:08Sweet potatoes
04:09Potatoes
04:10And some meat and veggies
04:13Right
04:13Right
04:14Right
04:19And here's $300
04:20As an advance
04:26Felix
04:26You're our family savior
04:33Uncle Brooks
04:35When Auntie and Faye were struggling
04:37You helped them a lot
04:38I'm just returning the favor
04:39But there's one thing
04:40You must keep this a secret
04:44Hide the money and food well
04:46Don't show it off
04:47And don't breathe a word
04:49About the wild forest delicacy
04:50You know the saying
04:51Wealth attracts trouble
04:53I don't need to explain
04:54Blight
04:55May lightning strike
04:55Remember
04:56Whoever blabs
04:57Gets struck by lightning
04:58Once the heat dies down
05:00I'll give you the rest of the money
05:20The miracle spring really can lock in and boost its vitality
05:30These celestial ginsengs and royal violet caps
05:33Even though they look only 20 or 30 years old
05:36After absorbing the miracle spring
05:38Their potency far exceeds this regular 50 year wild ginseng root
05:46The life-saving cure Jerome Tate is begging for
05:49I've got plenty right here
05:51With this trump card
05:53When should I play it to maximize profits?
05:59The real show is just beginning
06:06This ginseng from Martin Brooks is already 40 or 50 years old
06:10Nourished by the harvest chamber and healing spring
06:12It might have even greater uses later
06:33These things are what give Faye and me the security for a stable life
06:45Martin Brooks' urgent crisis is pretty much resolved
06:47The wild ginseng is sorted out too
06:49Next, besides the wedding
06:51I need to figure out a safer way to utilize the food and supplies in the harvest chamber
07:04You've all read the document
07:05The situation is worse than we thought
07:07For the next few months, our food supply will be drastically cut
07:10With such a huge shortage
07:11Our factory has nearly 2,000 workers
07:13Plus families
07:13How do we feed thousands of mouths?
07:15With just the reduced rations
07:16We can barely guarantee basic meals
07:18Let alone for heavy manual workers
07:20Our warehouse reserves are already low
07:22If this keeps up
07:24The cafeteria won't last long
07:29Mr. Hayes
07:30Purchasing is our front line
07:32I don't care how you do it
07:34I just want results
07:35Grains, sweet potatoes, potatoes
07:36If it fills bellies
07:38Find a way to get it
07:39Tell us what you need now
07:40The factory has your back
07:46Director, I know someone who might have a way
07:49Who?
07:50Felix Quinn, our new guy in purchasing
07:51Him?
07:51He can get food?
07:52I can't guarantee it
07:54But he has connections
07:55The wild game the factory needed was all sourced by him
07:59With such a huge shortage
08:01Everyone in purchasing must try
08:02I want to ask him myself
08:06Good
08:06Go see him yourself
08:08If he can really get the grain
08:10Prices, pay, and reasonable demands
08:13Are all negotiable
08:15Right
08:16I'll go now
08:20Felix, Felix, open up
08:22It's me, Balthazar Hayes
08:28Felix, you've got to help me
08:31Balthazar, come in
08:32What happened?
08:42Have some water
08:43And tell me
08:47Felix, it's urgent
08:48The factory's in big trouble
08:49Grain?
08:51Yes, grain
08:53New orders just came down
08:54Supplies are being cut
08:55Our factory has so many
08:57The grain in the warehouse won't last long
08:59The director issued an order for the purchasing department
09:01To get grain by any means necessary
09:03Coarse or fine grain
09:06Sweet potatoes
09:07Potatoes
09:08Pumpkins
09:08Anything that fills the stomach will do
09:10Brother
09:10I know it's tough
09:12But in the whole factory
09:13The only one I can think of who might have a way
09:15Is you
09:16Do you have any connections?
09:17Even if we just get a portion first
09:19It would help in this emergency
09:20The harvest chamber has plenty of grain
09:22Sweet potatoes
09:23Potatoes
09:24Corn
09:25Rice
09:26And millet
09:26Helping machinery works get through this crisis
09:29Is doable
09:30But if I take out too much at once
09:32I can't explain where it came from
09:36Felix, we can discuss the price
09:38For coarse grain
09:39The factory can give $1.70 a pound
09:41Fine grain pays more
09:43Plus industry vouchers
09:44And quotas for scarce goods
09:45Whatever we can arrange
09:47The factory will find a way
09:48Balthazar
09:49It's not that I won't help
09:51It's not just about the price
09:53You know the grain situation better than I do
09:56Getting large amounts is tough
09:57Getting bulk goods is hard
09:59But
10:02Since you came in person, Balthazar
10:04And the factory is really desperate
10:06I'm part of the machinery works too
10:07I'll give it a try
10:09Really?
10:10Don't get too excited yet
10:11I can't guarantee anything
10:13And I have some conditions
10:14Go ahead
10:15First
10:16The grain will be delivered in batches
10:18It won't all come at once
10:20Second
10:20I'll handle all the trade details
10:22You just inspect the goods and pay
10:24Don't ask about my suppliers
10:25Deal
10:26Third
10:26Part of the payment in cash
10:28And part in rare vouchers
10:29Fine grain prices are separate
10:31No problem
10:32I'll sort it out
10:34Also
10:35The fewer people who know
10:37The better
10:37Don't worry about that
10:39We'll keep the circle small
10:42One last thing
10:43This grain shortage won't end in a few days
10:45The market will keep changing
10:47And so will the prices
10:48I hope when that time comes
10:49We won't haggle over prices
10:50Fair enough, Felix
10:51If you can really help the factory
10:53Get through this crisis
10:53If you ever need anything
10:55The factory will help
10:56However it can
10:56I'll reach out right away
10:57If all goes well
10:59I'll update you on the first batch
11:00In three days
11:02Three days?
11:04Felix
11:04You're a lifesaver
11:06You saved everyone at the factory
11:07Don't speak too soon
11:09Hurry back and get ready
11:10I need to contact my people right away
11:12You're not the only ones
11:13Short on food right now
11:14I'm worried someone might beat me to it
11:18Got it
11:19I'll head back now
11:261.7 a gin for coarse grain
11:28The machinery works is really going all out
11:32Grain from the harvest chamber can help
11:33And get me money, vouchers, and ties
11:36But I can't rush things
11:38I shouldn't put all my eggs in the machinery works basket
11:41I need to find out the real prices in the underground market too
11:51How much for the sweet potatoes, brother?
11:52How much for the pumpkins?
11:53I want some
11:53I'll take $20 of sweet potatoes
11:54Cash
11:59Check the goods first
12:00We'll talk if you like it
12:05This is good stuff
12:15I'll take it all, brother
12:18Why did you get it all?
12:19I was here first
12:20Sweet potatoes, $1.75
12:22Pumpkins, $1.20
12:24Cash or vouchers?
12:25How about it?
12:26Deal
12:32Brother, based on the quality
12:34You must have more
12:37What do you mean?
12:38I was wondering if you can get more grain
12:40Cornmeal, sorghum, beans, even fine grain
12:43As long as you have it, we can talk price
12:46Here it comes
12:48How much do you want?
12:50As much as possible
12:52Honestly, I'm the county textile works purchasing manager, Eugene Clay
12:56Our mill is doing just like the machinery works
12:59The cafeteria is barely holding on
13:01Management's hounding me for grain daily
13:04Just came to try my luck today
13:05The textile mill, another big client
13:09I do have a batch
13:10How much?
13:11About 3,000 pounds of grain
13:13Mostly sweet potatoes and potatoes
13:15Plus a few hundred pounds of wild boar
13:183,000 pounds in meat?
13:21I'll take it all
13:22Name your price, bro
13:24Sweet potatoes and potatoes, $1.80
13:26Wild boar, $2.20
13:27Deal
13:29How do we trade all this?
13:31I'll set the time and place
13:33You inspect the goods, pay, and haul it away
13:36Okay
13:36One more thing
13:37Don't make a big scene
13:39Got it
13:45Machinery works is one channel
13:47Textile mill is another
13:49This trip was worth it
13:563,000 pounds of grain
13:58Hundreds of pounds of meat
13:59This is nothing to me
14:01What I really need to figure out
14:03Is how to turn these resources
14:05Step by step
14:06Into real leverage
14:17My god
14:18There really is this much
14:20Brother
14:20The goods are fine
14:22Come on out
14:23Let's weigh them
14:24Weigh them if you're good
14:27Sweet potatoes, 2,020 pounds
14:30Potatoes, 1,005 pounds
14:32Wild boar meat, 415 pounds
14:34Sweet potatoes and potatoes at $1.80
14:36$5,445
14:38Boar meat at $2.20
14:40$913
14:41Total is $6,358
14:43Here's $6,360
14:45Let's round it up
14:45Industry and cloth vouchers
14:47I got sugar vouchers for you too
14:48I trust you, Mr. Clay
14:50Brother, thanks a lot for this
14:54Our textile mill is really short on food
14:56This batch really saved us
14:58If you get more goods, no matter how much
15:00No matter the amount or the kind
15:02Keep me in mind
15:03Keep the textile mill in mind
15:05I'll give you a good price
15:06If you need anything in town
15:07Just let me know
15:11Sure, I'll be in touch
15:18Machinery works, textile mill
15:19That's another connection
15:26Young Quinn, you're finally here
15:28Is this?
15:29Mr. Lowell, I didn't let you down
15:33Wow, it's huge
15:35Young Quinn, you're amazing
15:37Quick, unload it
15:45886 caddies of pure meat
15:47You really saved me this time
15:49The stuff for your wedding?
15:50I got it all ready for you
15:51Handpicked the best
15:53Thanks, Mr. Lowell
16:12Young Quinn, take a look
16:14Anything missing?
16:15The liquor, sugar, and tea are all top brands
16:17The fabric for the bedding is top-notch too
16:20Guaranteed to make your wedding a grand affair
16:21Thanks for the trouble, Mr. Lowell
16:23Everything is great
16:24The rest of the money is settled as agreed
16:30Need me to get someone to deliver it?
16:33No need
16:33I can handle it
16:43Wedding supplies are all set
16:45Now, about the 10,000 caddies of grain
16:48For the machinery works
16:55Felix, have a seat
16:56Any news on your end?
16:58That's exactly why I'm here, Balthazar
17:01The factory trucks
17:02Can you lend me one?
17:04Yes
17:04You mean?
17:06I found the grain
17:08Really?
17:09How much?
17:10About 2,000 pounds of rice
17:123,000 pounds of cornmeal
17:13Sweet potatoes
17:14Potatoes
17:14Pumpkins
17:15About another 5,000 pounds
17:17Around 10,000 pounds in total
17:1910,000 pounds?
17:21It's remote
17:22Same rules as before
17:23Give me the truck
17:24I'll get it myself
17:24No one follows me
17:25And don't ask where
17:26Alright, whatever you say
17:28I'll get the truck ready myself
17:29With a full tank of gas
17:32Are you sure you don't need helpers?
17:35No
17:35Too many eyes
17:38I trust you
17:39Absolutely
17:42Frank, Billy
17:44Clear out the warehouse
17:45Right now
17:45Get the scales
17:46And the unloading crew ready
17:47And keep your mouths shut
17:49Understood
17:57Felix, be careful out there
17:59Don't worry
18:00Yeah
18:102,000 pounds of rice
18:113,000 pounds of cornmeal
18:135,000 pounds of sweet potatoes
18:15Potatoes
18:15And pumpkins
18:16This should give the machinery works a breather
18:24Balthazar
18:24Goods are in the back
18:25Unload them
18:30Unload
18:31Weigh
18:31And store it
18:32Careful, everyone
18:35This food
18:36Is our factory's lifeline
18:41It really is food
18:47Heard procurement officer
18:48Quinn brought it all in
18:49A full 10,000 pounds
18:51The community cafeteria
18:53Can finally catch a break
19:00Comrade Felix
19:01Great job
19:01Great job
19:02You've done the factory
19:03A great service
19:04These 10,000 caddies of grain
19:06Didn't just save the cafeteria
19:07It also reassured all our workers
19:08You're too kind, director
19:10I was just doing my job
19:11With Mr. Hayes' support
19:13I was able to get the grain
19:14It's mainly because Felix is capable
19:17I just helped coordinate
19:18You both did great
19:20The purchasing department
19:21Did a fantastic job this time
19:23Let's talk in the office
19:27Comrade Felix
19:28Getting so much grain so quickly
19:30How did you do it?
19:33After Mr. Hayes told me our factory struggles
19:36I contacted everyone I possibly could
19:38Grain is really tight now
19:40Most can barely feed themselves
19:42As for the exact source
19:44It's not that I don't trust you
19:46But if word gets out
19:47Other units will swarm them
19:49Then we'd lose our chance to get more later
19:52This source
19:53As I told Mr. Hayes before
19:54Must remain a secret
19:55Getting grain at a time like this
19:57Doesn't just take ability
19:58It also takes guts and responsibility
20:00Being able to get grain now
20:01Is true skill
20:02That's real skill
20:03Comrade Felix
20:04You've accomplished an almost impossible task this time
20:07The factory won't forget your work
20:09As for our future grain supply
20:10We'll still need your help
20:11I'll do my best
20:13We shouldn't just reward him
20:15We need an official commendation
20:17I agree
20:18The leadership team has decided
20:20To reward you personally
20:21With $150
20:23This afternoon
20:24There will be a factory-wide broadcast commendation
20:28Director
20:28This reward is too much
20:30I only did what I should
20:31You deserve it
20:32It's a reward
20:33And it shows the factory's stance
20:35I will definitely keep working hard
20:37And won't let down the leadership
20:38Or the trust of my comrades
20:45Comrades of the factory
20:47Here is an important management commendation
20:50Comrade Felix Quinn from purchasing
20:53When our grain supply was critically short
20:56Shared the factory's urgency
20:58Anticipated its needs
20:59And actively opened new procurement channels
21:01For successfully procuring nearly 10,000 pounds of grain
21:05Easing the food supply shortage
21:07And ensuring normal operations
21:09The management has decided
21:12To commend Comrade Felix across the entire factory
21:16And award him $150
21:24Way to go, procurement officer Quinn
21:26Thanks for your hard work, Comrade Felix
21:31Felix, you're really famous now
21:33From now on, in the factory
21:35You'll have it easy wherever you go
21:38The fame, the bonus, and connections with management
21:41They all give me confidence
21:42But the more famous I get
21:44The more eyes will be on me
21:45I need to be more careful
21:49This sudden food shortage
21:52Won't just affect the machinery works
21:54If it continues to spread
21:56The real trouble is yet to come
21:59I wonder if Faye heard the broadcast
22:03Felix, wait
22:05Come over for dinner tonight
22:07My wife's been asking about you
22:09And today is your big day getting an award
22:12Let's celebrate with a drink
22:16Balthazar, I appreciate the offer
22:18Please thank your wife for me
22:20But I really can't today
22:23What is it?
22:25Things to do in the village?
22:26Yeah, there's stuff waiting for me
22:29Besides, I've been away for two days
22:31Time to go back
22:35I get it
22:38In a rush to see your fiancé, huh?
22:45Alright, I won't keep you
22:47When you hold the wedding
22:49I'll definitely bring folks to celebrate
22:52You're more than welcome
22:53You'd better get back to work, Balthazar
23:09Uncle Weston
23:10Grandpa Balthazar
23:11What happened?
23:15Take a look, Felix
23:17The main settlement is in real trouble
23:26Machinery works is short on grain
23:28And now the main settlement is too
23:30Looks like the impact is faster than I thought
23:33See that?
23:34The higher-ups cut us off
23:36We're on our own
23:37But our grain storage is already empty
23:39The harvest was bad this year
23:41After meeting the quota
23:42The little food left was eaten up fast
23:44We just did the math
23:45Even if we use up all the seed and emergency grain
23:48It won't last a few days
23:50Families don't have much left either
23:52What little they have is to keep themselves alive
23:55If all else fails
23:56I'll take men into the mountains to hunt for more food
23:59How much game is out there?
24:01Besides, everyone's struggling
24:03Trying to borrow from other crews
24:04They won't lend us any
24:05They wouldn't lend it anyway
24:11Felix, you know people at the county office
24:14And have good connections
24:15I heard you got the machinery works
24:17Nearly 10,000 pounds of grain today
24:19And were praised on their broadcast
24:21Can you figure something out
24:23To help our main settlement too?
24:25Just a little grain for now
24:27To keep us from starving
24:28Uncle Weston
24:29Please don't
24:31Peter, don't do this
24:34Uncle Weston
24:35Grandpa Balthazar
24:37I know you're anxious
24:38I grew up here
24:39And everyone's like family
24:41I'll help however I can
24:47But let me be clear
24:50This grain shortage goes beyond our community office
24:53And even our county
24:54The factory is scrambling for grain too
24:56Money alone can't buy it
24:58The grain I managed to get for the machinery works today
25:01Was because they paid top dollar
25:03And pulled a lot of strings
25:06Barely squeezed out a bit
25:07The main settlement has hundreds of people
25:09How much food do we eat a day?
25:11Even if I use all my connections
25:13To get a few hundred pounds
25:14Divide it up
25:15It won't last long
25:17It helps for now
25:18But not forever
25:21Then what can we do?
25:23Are the folks really gonna starve?
25:27There's still a way
25:28But the main settlement must act first
25:31We can't rely entirely on the outside
25:33Tell us, Felix
25:36First
25:36Don't rush to close the community cafeteria
25:39Pool all the grain we can still distribute together
25:41And ration it per person
25:42Don't let the poorest starve first
25:44Second
25:44Organize workers now
25:46Those who can go up the mountain
25:47Go
25:47Forage
25:48Gather
25:48And fish
25:49Every bit helps
25:50Third
25:51Send someone up today
25:52Then to the county office
25:53Report the main settlement's true situation to them
25:55Even if we just get some relief grain or rations
25:57It'll buy us a few days
25:59Right
25:59We'll go soon
26:00Also
26:01Families need to share
26:03At a time like this
26:04If anyone has any spare grain
26:06If anyone still has some spare grain
26:08They can share a bit
26:09But don't force them
26:10That's right
26:12The harder the times
26:14The more we need to stay united
26:19As for me
26:24I'll use my job to keep an eye out
26:28If I can get some grain from other channels
26:32I'll try to spare some for the main settlement
26:35Really?
26:36Don't celebrate yet
26:37I said I'll try
26:38It won't be much
26:40And I might not get it right away
26:41If I do manage to get some
26:42It must go to the lonely elders first
26:44And large families totally out of food
26:47And most importantly
26:48It must be kept a secret
26:50No one can breathe a word about where the grain came from
26:53Or say it has anything to do with me
26:55If word gets out
26:57We won't get any grain
26:58And my job at the factory and sources could be ruined
27:02Don't worry
27:03If you get it
27:04We'll handle the distribution
27:06If anyone dares to blab
27:09They'll answer to me
27:10It's a lot to ask of you, Felix
27:13Never mind that
27:15Report what you need to
27:17Organize the people
27:18Panicking won't help
27:20The most important thing now
27:21Is to survive the next few days
27:23Right
27:24We'll go discuss it now
27:28I need to be clear
27:31I can help
27:32But the rations for hundreds in the main settlement
27:34Can't become my sole responsibility
27:36If everyone starts thinking
27:38They can just come to me when they're hungry
27:40No amount of grain will fill that void
27:43I'll help those in desperate need
27:45But a real famine
27:47Isn't something I can solve alone
27:49What about it?
27:51What about it?
27:51This is what I mean
