Transcript
00:00On Tuesday, about 10 minutes into the team's return flight from Salt Lake City to Pittsburgh,
00:09Ben collapsed on the team plane in what has been diagnosed as a vasovagal episode.
00:19Dr. Vias, our medical director from UPMC, was on the flight. Dr. Vias along with Jason Meehan,
00:26Brendan Mazza, Patrick McGee and Rich Rotenberg, our medical staff, quickly attended to Ben,
00:34was given oxygen on the flight, regained consciousness and the determination was that
00:40the flight needed to be landed back in Salt Lake City in an emergency medical landing,
00:49at which time the plane was met by paramedics and Ben was transported to the University of Utah
00:56Medical Center for further treatment. Ben was cleared yesterday to travel back to Pittsburgh,
01:04which he did with Nick Bonino, Jason Spezza, Richard Rotenberg and Dr. Vias and he is back in the building
01:14for treatment and further testing today. We'll place him on injured reserve and we will obviously follow
01:25very strict guidelines to ensure a safe return to training and play for Ben. That's our primary and
01:34our primary goal and paramount to his future and health.
