00:00:01What is going on everybody? It is Wednesday here on Wake Up Barstool and once again guys we got a
00:00:08lot to get to as LeBron debuts in Philly and what a debut it was for the Sixers Quartet plus
00:00:16the latest on Jalen Hurts, the NFL PA getting involved.
00:00:20The NFL, some Eagles are okay here. We got Brandon's Heisman favorites which could have changed due to some major
00:00:28injuries that we now have news on. We got a World Series preview which Dumb Evo is going to try
00:00:33to do so it's going to be a great show today. Everybody log in. Wake Up Barstool starts now on
00:00:39FS1.
00:01:00I'll go home right now. I'm sorry. I'll go home right now. I'll get two extra hours of sleep. I
00:01:06don't get paid. I'm not going anywhere. I'm here as a favor to you. Okay that's crazy. No no no
00:01:13okay. Like I want to apologize. I want to be nice and you say some crap like that and that's
00:01:18crazy.
00:01:18These two have been going at it for the past 10 minutes before the show. Don't look at my contract.
00:01:22It's very uncomfortable. It started as a friendly little debate. Forget who has the power in the social sphere. Nintendo
00:01:30and Kyle Shanahan and it spun out from there. Evo okay let's make peace here for a second. We got
00:01:35a lot to get to. We got Cody here looking cool as hell. Behind the desk tiny as hell with
00:01:41that giant laptop but cool nonetheless. Brandon Walker and then the man of the hour.
00:01:47He's got the jersey on. What a debut it was. So much hype over the offseason Connor and already I
00:01:55walk in here and the producers are writing questions like is this the best quartet that we've seen in NBA
00:02:02history.
00:02:02Yeah well I also saw some other questions on the the rest of the docket today that I was a
00:02:07little bit concerned about on the flip side of things. But hey it's great the people are talking about the
00:02:11Philadelphia 76ers and this was a beautiful night last night spoiling the ring night.
00:02:16A team with no chemistry a team a lot of people question who's going to be taking that last shot.
00:02:21How is this team going to work. It's just too many names too many guys and they looked amazing last
00:02:26night. Not the best shooting night but the way they're moving the ball the way they're playing defense specifically. It's
00:02:32a different type of energy a different type of vibe that I can't describe. I got choked up watching the
00:02:37game last night.
00:02:38No you didn't. Yes I did. Yes I did. I could not believe. You got choked up? Listen. You're lying.
00:02:44I was watching a Sixers team 10 years ago. Robert Covington, Rashawn Holmes. Who cares?
00:02:50Dario Saric. Guys you got to stop talking about the process. We went through the process. Stop. We went through
00:02:57a GM with burner accounts. You're still in the process.
00:03:00Trashing players on the team. You have a good basketball team. We went through people holding our team hot. We
00:03:05went through Tobias Harris. And now we have this beautiful quartet.
00:03:09And Vijay Edgecombe who did not have a stellar game last night. He's going to find his role. But this
00:03:14team just has a dog mentality. LeBron's chirping people in MSG. It was great to see. That was awesome to
00:03:19see.
00:03:20Somebody accused LeBron and MSG being from the West Coast and I'm an Ohio boy. I'm from the Midwest. F
00:03:25you talking about?
00:03:26Yeah it was so good. Brandon. He was kind of goofing off was he not? He was goofing off. I
00:03:30feel like I feel like he I feel like LeBron was able to impact the game while like goofing off.
00:03:36It felt like he was playing like a like a former player a celebrity all-star game. Yeah. Where they're
00:03:40like they could still get like 35 points in the game. They're just like dapping up fans like eating popcorn
00:03:46out of the front row.
00:03:47I just say it's not a serious environment. Like there was they they had the banner night. They had all
00:03:51the things. But it's just it's been stiller. It's Spike Lee in the craziest suit you've ever seen. Like it's
00:03:56it's just it's Hollywood out there. And it's just they're all out there to have fun and be seen.
00:04:01Well. And they watched the banner and that's great. And the next one title. But like I don't think that's
00:04:05like a midseason we're in a tough environment game. That's not like in in Boston and in you know in
00:04:11the playoffs.
00:04:11I get what you're saying. And I think there's definitely an element of there. But comfortable with all people around.
00:04:16Well but to Ebo's point like it is a testament to this insane career that LeBron has had because for
00:04:21some guys last night those minutes are the most important minutes of their entire lives.
00:04:26Right. Or they're trying to prove they can belong in the NBA. They're trying to show this that LeBron's been
00:04:31at this for so long that it's like like he was at it's like it's like an invitational or like
00:04:36like a rec league game because he's just been so good for so long.
00:04:39Well it's also he was doing it all last night. Like he's facilitating the offense. There was a one point
00:04:45defensively in the second half. He was guarding the five.
00:04:48Yeah. He could just play any position. He could do whatever. There's an entire ESPN article today about the play
00:04:52of the game him guarding cat. They try the cross court pass get stolen game in.
00:04:56So that's the big story here. The 76ers have at worst the second best player of all time being an
00:05:03elite role player for them right now. Yes. He is playing a role. He's going to facilitate the ball. He's
00:05:08going to make the smart decision at all times. That's what he's done for 24 years. He always makes a
00:05:12smart decision. Now he's on a team where the smart decision is all around him. It's it's either making a
00:05:17pass to Embiid or making a pass to Jalen Brown or doing whatever.
00:05:20Like he is a brilliant basketball player. Yeah. He's always scored 30 points a game because that was the role
00:05:26that he needed to play. And but now he can play the ultimate.
00:05:30I will be the glue that holds this team together from a basketball perspective. Yeah. Brandon, I think you had
00:05:34the nail on the head. Like if if this team can kill ego. Right. If they can defeat ego, then
00:05:41how and this is going to be hyperbolic.
00:05:44But why not? It's game one. Let's overreact. How do you defend them? Right. Because they've got the small slashing
00:05:50guard play good shooting out of Max. OK, let's say he's having an off night.
00:05:54They have Jalen Brown, who's that lengthy wing that defined the NBA for like an entire decade. OK, he's having
00:06:01an off night for themselves. Yeah. He's OK. Well, then you got Embiid, who's a classic big man, but can
00:06:07now space the floor.
00:06:08Or like and then, as Brandon alluded to, you have the single smartest player, arguably. Well, no, not arguably the
00:06:14smartest in the NBA right now.
00:06:16One of the smartest of all time. It looks really good. Well, if they can continue to work together like
00:06:22last game, one of 82 will Joel Embiid be OK in March scoring 13 points a game.
00:06:27I doubt it. That's what I mean. I doubt Jalen Brown came here to score 19 points a game.
00:06:31We scored 26 last year. Like they will have to face some egos along the way.
00:06:37And I did think they did a good job last night of a couple of times like Tyrese Maxey was
00:06:43the was the driver of the car for most of the night.
00:06:45Yes. But every now and then he would pull over and say, Jalen Brown, you drive the car for four
00:06:49minutes or Joel Embiid, you drive the car for three or four minutes.
00:06:52Like they would do that in stretches where they ran the offense through certain guys.
00:06:57And they're going to have to do that a lot, probably. Very important aspect of a long road trip is
00:07:02multiple drivers.
00:07:04Yeah, true. Could the Knicks have lost? Could the Knicks have lost 100 to nothing last night and their fans
00:07:10have gone home happy?
00:07:11I think it was the rare thing. I was thinking about the barstool group that went like it was Che.
00:07:15It was Max. Max, the Sixers fan, Che, the Knicks fan, Zach, the Knicks fan, Mims, the Knicks fan.
00:07:20And they all saw what they wanted to, right? Yeah. Last night, right? Everybody came out there happy because the
00:07:25Knicks fans saw the ring, saw the banner, saw all the pomp and circumstance, saw everything that was amazing.
00:07:30And the Sixers saw their team be better than the Knicks. We should talk about the ring, too.
00:07:34In a day and age where rings get more and more gaudy and more and more over the top, I
00:07:40think they actually hit a pretty sweet middle ground here.
00:07:43You didn't think this was gaudy? It is. Sorry. It is gaudy. But something about it doesn't have a light
00:07:49show, does it?
00:07:49Something about it works for me. I love the little pop-up top that's a Madison Square Garden exterior. You
00:07:55see it right here.
00:07:55You said in the world of gaudy rings, this one's a middle ground? Wait, it does that?
00:08:00This is the gaudiest thing of all time. It does that? I think, yeah. Wait, you haven't seen that? And
00:08:04then you watch.
00:08:04It does have a light show. It's got the MSG lower bowl right there inside the ring.
00:08:11But when it's closed up, it doesn't look as insane. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong.
00:08:15You can play basketball inside the ring? It even has the roof.
00:08:18The ants can play basketball? That's the gaudiest ring of all time.
00:08:21Yeah, maybe. Maybe it was a poor choice of words. I guess I think that it works for me. It
00:08:25doesn't look, um...
00:08:27Because it kind of looks traditional when you just glance at it, but it's got these kind of well-done,
00:08:34hidden secrets and call-outs.
00:08:37It's a good ring. It's a good ring.
00:08:38That's she on the outside, by the way. The first time you see it, it's like the most underwhelming thing,
00:08:42I think.
00:08:42It kind of looks like an 80s...
00:08:44Have you ever seen Rupp Arena?
00:08:46I've never seen Rupp Arena.
00:08:47Rupp Arena in Kentucky. You're like, that's Rupp Arena?
00:08:50But anyway, yes. Madison Square Garden doesn't strike... In a city where everything strikes you, Madison Square Garden doesn't.
00:08:58Just like a... Yeah.
00:08:59So, congrats to the Sixers. An excellent debut for the quartet on night number one.
00:09:04The other big story of the day...
00:09:06Top break for Vijay Edgecombe.
00:09:07Celtics?
00:09:07I'm calling it a quartet.
00:09:08Paul George debut?
00:09:10Yeah, I mean, it is a quartet. He'll have to earn his way into the quintet.
00:09:13He had some big-time buckets late in the game yesterday.
00:09:16Oh, so you think it should be a quintet?
00:09:18Yeah, I think so. Eventually, it will be, but yeah, they just got to...
00:09:21I also think...
00:09:22They don't have their chemistry nailed down just yet.
00:09:24I also think we're focused... I mean, listen, I understand you bring in LeBron and you bring in Jalen Brown.
00:09:28Like, their second unit's pretty good.
00:09:31Like, I think Simons is a fantastic second unit guard.
00:09:34I think KCP... It was KCP?
00:09:36Yeah.
00:09:36He's a fantastic second unit player.
00:09:39Dean Wade wasn't even playing last night.
00:09:41That was another big-time acquisition, so watch out.
00:09:43Now, they did let... They let...
00:09:45Andre Drummond just cook them for a while.
00:09:48All right, let's get to the other big game of the day, though.
00:09:50The Thunders roll the Spurs in a Western Conference Finals rematch,
00:09:54and a lot is made of Wimby, rightfully so.
00:09:58Wimby did not have a good game.
00:10:01Now, everybody's saying, you know, they drafted Maura, they drafted the Wimby stopper,
00:10:04and he had the highlight where he blocks Wimby on one edge of the court,
00:10:08and then he comes all the way, he dunks it on the other.
00:10:10However, I think Chet Holmgren's kind of not getting a lot of credit for being the primary defender on Wimby
00:10:16all night.
00:10:16Think about it.
00:10:17Holmgren had to sit with that Game 7 performance all offseason.
00:10:21Yeah.
00:10:21And, you know, it's a lukewarm, tepid revenge, but at least for this opening night,
00:10:28him and his team were able to extract a little bit of it.
00:10:31I think if you're the Spurs, you kind of have to be happy with the fact that your superstar, like,
00:10:37went one for 13 from the field, and you still battled throughout the game,
00:10:41like you made a surge in the third quarter.
00:10:43I mean, to still have an impact on a game where you go one of 13 from the field is
00:10:48a very unique skill set to have.
00:10:50To be able to block six shots, to deter shots at the rim,
00:10:54I think the Spurs walk away from this being like, I think we're fine.
00:10:58I think this game signals a great return to the NBA.
00:11:03These two teams absolutely detest each other.
00:11:06Yeah.
00:11:07They hate each other.
00:11:08They're scrapping in game one of the entire season.
00:11:10Like, I feel like the buddy-buddy era of NBA basketball might be fading away in front of our very
00:11:17eyes.
00:11:18As these two teams, and if you saw the Pistons and Celtics, they were a little scrappy yesterday.
00:11:22The buddy-buddy era might be a little bit done because these teams are going to play a lot
00:11:27in the regular season and the playoffs, and they can't stand each other.
00:11:30Here's what Wimby had to say after the game on his struggles.
00:11:33I need to go back to playing the basketball I like.
00:11:37You know, it's kind of weird.
00:11:40I don't like, this is not the sport I like right here, so I got no reason to be hesitant,
00:11:46no reason to not be myself.
00:11:49What is it like?
00:11:51For me, it's as simple as that.
00:11:52I'm good when I have fun.
00:11:53Kind of a weird thing to say night one, because it almost feels like you're saying that they've
00:11:57been trying to, like, neuter me during camp, right?
00:12:00Like, I don't like this.
00:12:01I, you know, we'll see where it goes.
00:12:03Well, I mean, what does it not like?
00:12:05It's just that he doesn't like losing?
00:12:07Yeah.
00:12:07He's like, yeah, I'd much rather, I like basketball when we're winning.
00:12:10I don't know.
00:12:10Maybe he wants to go, like, through the legs, step back threes, like we were seeing in the
00:12:13finals, or in the finals last year.
00:12:15That's part of the problem, T-Bob, like, you look at all of his shots last night, and
00:12:18yeah, he starts to go off.
00:12:19Yeah, they were shooting on threes.
00:12:200 for 12.
00:12:21He doesn't shoot from the paint.
00:12:23Like, unless he's getting dunks at the rim, so much of his game is outside, and it's crazy
00:12:29for how dominant he can be down low defensively.
00:12:32That does not match on the offensive end, and yeah, offensively, he can kind of be taken
00:12:37out of a game.
00:12:37Like, he's not a force down low, given his size, given his skill set, and it's really
00:12:43odd to see.
00:12:44I also feel like when you're, I mean, when you're seven feet tall and you shoot a three,
00:12:48it has to go in or the possession is over.
00:12:50Yeah.
00:12:50Because you have no rebound anywhere else in the court, especially when you're, if you
00:12:53go with that three-guard lineup they experimented with in the preseason, it's like, you don't
00:12:58have the size to rebound a missed shot, whether you're a seven-foot-eight alien is at half
00:13:05court.
00:13:05Yeah.
00:13:05You have no chance.
00:13:06So you have one possession, basically.
00:13:07Ibo, so we've kind of been at each other this morning.
00:13:10Misery loves company.
00:13:11I think it's time to drag Connor down in the mud with us.
00:13:13He's all happy.
00:13:14That's Paul George trade.
00:13:16He's got his Sixers jersey on.
00:13:18Might be the best game he plays all year, and they waste it.
00:13:19It's not the direction I'm going.
00:13:21Jalen Hurts.
00:13:22Yes.
00:13:22Out for the year.
00:13:23Drama continues.
00:13:25Here's what the NFL had to say, because the NFL PA is on the Eagles' ass right now,
00:13:30Connor.
00:13:30They want a full investigation.
00:13:31The NFL saying, though, the Eagles did everything correct.
00:13:35Well, first of all, we don't have a protocol about this.
00:13:38Again, there are certain things we have protocols on, like concussion and heat and emergency
00:13:41preparedness.
00:13:42We don't.
00:13:43I'll just sum it up by saying that I have complete confidence in the Eagles' medical staff
00:13:47and their handling of this situation, and I would characterize their work as very conservative,
00:13:52very patient-focused, and appropriately guarded at every step.
00:13:56So, the shield defending the shield.
00:13:58The PA says, quote, before conclusions are drawn about how this situation was handled,
00:14:03there must be a full investigation into what occurred.
00:14:06Determining the facts is essential to ensuring players receive the highest level of care and
00:14:11protection going forward.
00:14:13Brandon, it kind of seems like everybody's doing their job here.
00:14:16Yeah, I will say the people online and the Eagles fans that want the medical staff to
00:14:22be fired, Connor, are not doctors at all and are just deciding, they're making themselves
00:14:28experts on exactly how Jalen Hurts should have been handled here when they don't have a clue
00:14:33what they're talking about, Connor.
00:14:35I think this is a fair one to put your hand up and just be like, I got no idea.
00:14:40Yeah.
00:14:41I got no idea who's in the right, who's in the wrong.
00:14:43That's fair.
00:14:43We've seen situations in the past.
00:14:44It sounds crazy.
00:14:45Y'all don't know DVT?
00:14:46It does sound crazy.
00:14:48Like, you can be like, okay, it sounds crazy to tell a guy to not sleep for 36 hours on
00:14:51a flight to London before he plays football.
00:14:53But also, you can be like, I don't know if it's bad.
00:14:56I don't know if it's good.
00:14:57Like, it's...
00:14:57Well, also, the reporting, like, this just takes...
00:15:00We almost need an investigation just to get the story straight.
00:15:02Because the reporting's all over the place.
00:15:04He was told not to sleep.
00:15:05He was told sleep was fine.
00:15:06He was told he needed physical activity.
00:15:07He was told he didn't know physical activity.
00:15:09It's tough to parse.
00:15:11And, to Brandon's point, we're all medieval churchgoers listening to a sermon in Latin.
00:15:17We have no idea what we're talking about.
00:15:19But at the same time, you guys haven't followed the Philadelphia Eagles closely over the years
00:15:23when it comes to the medical staff.
00:15:25There was a lawsuit years ago about how injuries were handled and everything like that.
00:15:30And now this is your franchise quarterback.
00:15:32Yeah, the medical staff...
00:15:33Okay, Connor.
00:15:34What is deep vein thrombosis?
00:15:36I think the problem here is mainly the fact that with Jalen Hurts in this situation,
00:15:42there was a game in London that...
00:15:44I mean, it was just, like, the worst timing possible to have a game overseas
00:15:48where there's a transatlantic flight.
00:15:51They're trying to figure out the status of his injury,
00:15:53whether or not it's a blood clot, whether or not whatever.
00:15:56And yet you're having to fly to London.
00:15:57Like, it was the worst possible time.
00:15:59I feel terrible for him.
00:16:00He had to be hospitalized in London.
00:16:02If it wasn't safe to fly back to the United States with a blood clot,
00:16:07what's the other alternative?
00:16:08He just stays stranded in the UK?
00:16:10Like, it was the worst time.
00:16:12I think the process was sped up for everything.
00:16:14They couldn't properly evaluate it.
00:16:16And it just resulted in this situation where now it's, yeah,
00:16:19escalated to the worst degree.
00:16:21Cody, what is deep vein thrombosis?
00:16:23I feel terrible for Jalen Hurts.
00:16:24You guys will be throwing around words like hypercoagulability
00:16:27and endothelial injuries and stasis of blood flow.
00:16:30It's just like, we don't know what we're talking about.
00:16:31Let the people do their jobs.
00:16:33It's no one's fault.
00:16:34Let's just get to the bottom of this,
00:16:36and let's just ease our expectations and our tempers a little bit, Brandon.
00:16:40A little bit.
00:16:41I will say.
00:16:42Just say, I am not a doctor.
00:16:43I'm not a doctor.
00:16:45I am on a podcast.
00:16:47But, that being said, I'm not a doctor.
00:16:50I am a podcaster.
00:16:51It's absolutely crazy for the Eagles to send Nick Sirianni out there to the Wolves
00:16:56and answer all those questions about medical.
00:16:59Yeah, I agree.
00:16:59It should have been Howie Roseman.
00:17:00It should have been Jeffrey Lurie.
00:17:01It should have been medical.
00:17:02How did we go the whole first segment?
00:17:04All right.
00:17:04All right.
00:17:04Here we go.
00:17:06Here we go, guys.
00:17:08Brandon's Heisman contenders coming up next.
00:17:10Kind of a mischaracterization of what I want to talk about.
00:17:15Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool here on FS1.
00:17:19So, bad news for Ohio State.
00:17:23Julian's saying out for an extended period of time,
00:17:27and the reporting is that Ohio State is planning to move forward
00:17:32as if they will not have him for the rest of the season.
00:17:35He suffered an elbow injury in that win,
00:17:38which becomes a bit of a pyrrhic victory,
00:17:40and the ripple effects are pretty massive.
00:17:43Mainly, or not mainly, but one element,
00:17:45the biggest trophy in college football, the Heisman Trophy,
00:17:48Jeremiah Smith, looking like potentially the leader all year long.
00:17:53Brandon, how does this affect Smith,
00:17:54and how does this affect the Heisman race as a whole?
00:17:57So, obviously, the national championship is the big prize in college football,
00:18:01and this throws that into question mark.
00:18:04This is one of your number one contenders,
00:18:06one of your top three or four contenders,
00:18:07and they have a lot of question marks going forward.
00:18:10Jeremiah Smith, this does two things to his Heisman Trophy,
00:18:13and I don't know which one it is.
00:18:14Yeah.
00:18:15It takes it away because he's not going to be thrown to by a good quarterback,
00:18:18or it even strengthens this case because he is able to carry a young quarterback
00:18:23by himself.
00:18:24Now, I don't know which it's going to be.
00:18:26I know his next two games are against USC and against Oregon.
00:18:29Those are two marquee spots.
00:18:30If he goes out and he has three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown
00:18:35in one of those games and then doesn't affect the other,
00:18:38his Heisman odds really go, I mean, he loses his lead, basically.
00:18:42So, what I want to do, let's operate on the premise
00:18:46that Jeremiah Smith loses his grip on the Heisman due to this injury.
00:18:50Real quick, though.
00:18:51We're operating on that premise.
00:18:52Real quick, though.
00:18:53There is the other hypothetical, though, where he, like you said.
00:18:55We are acknowledging the reality that there could be a world where it strengthens his case.
00:18:59Yes, because he continues to dominate and it's like you're a young quarterback
00:19:03and it's, okay, I don't want to make a decision.
00:19:05I'm just going to feed Smith.
00:19:07But if that doesn't happen.
00:19:09The instructions the young quarterback gets, whether it's St. Clair or Fahey,
00:19:13the instructions he gets are, hey, I'm Ryan Day, I'm your coach,
00:19:16just throw it to four as often as you can and we'll be okay.
00:19:19And if that works and that happens, then he's going to win the Heisman going away.
00:19:23But the premise that we're going to operate under is that it hurts his candidacy
00:19:27and he doesn't play as well because the quarterback position isn't as well.
00:19:30So that opens it up.
00:19:31Now, where do we go?
00:19:32Number one, I think Trinidad Chambliss at plus 650.
00:19:35I have my phone in my hand because I have the DraftKings odds for Heisman Trophy.
00:19:39If they want to put those odds up on the screen, I will drop my phone.
00:19:42But until then, I think Trinidad Chambliss.
00:19:45You look at Trinidad Chambliss.
00:19:46Not only do you have somebody who has been very good,
00:19:53been the best quarterback in the country consistently,
00:19:54but you also have somebody who's going to play Georgia at home,
00:19:58who's going to play Texas,
00:19:59who potentially could play in the SEC championship game,
00:20:02which means marquee spot after marquee spot after marquee spot.
00:20:05And while their defense has improved and they look good against Missouri,
00:20:09their defense has shown the ability to get them in shootouts
00:20:12where he has to win the game.
00:20:14And if he does that, I would say he's my favorite choice on the board at plus 650.
00:20:19There's another one, though.
00:20:21Malachi Tony at plus 22.
00:20:232200, excuse me.
00:20:25Malachi Tony is going to be in that Notre Dame game in a couple of weeks.
00:20:28Darian Mince and Malachi Tony.
00:20:30But Darian Mince is plus 290, whereas Malachi Tony is plus 2200.
00:20:33Okay?
00:20:34So that means $100.
00:20:35If he wins, you win $2,200.
00:20:38Malachi Tony is going to be making huge plays.
00:20:41If you saw the other day against Florida State,
00:20:43he was okay the first three quarters.
00:20:44Then in the fourth quarter, he was excellent.
00:20:46He was incredible.
00:20:47If they go into South Bend and beat Notre Dame,
00:20:49it's because he had a great game.
00:20:51Then they'll have the ACC championship game.
00:20:53I wouldn't be surprised if Malachi Tony makes a big move if Jeremiah Smith were operating under the premise that
00:20:58he falls because of the quarterback.
00:20:59It is interesting because we're talking a lot about how these things can go one of two ways, right?
00:21:05And with Tony in Miami, the easy schedule can maybe prop him up because maybe Chambliss falls in some of
00:21:11these challenges, right?
00:21:12And so Tony in his one test, he passed, and the other ones, okay, that like helps him.
00:21:17But if Chambliss passes the tests, I don't think Tony has enough good opponents to get across the finish line.
00:21:24Even an ACC championship would probably be against Wake Forest.
00:21:28I mean, it could be against anybody.
00:21:29But again, Wake looks really good right now.
00:21:31And even though I love Wake, I love what they're doing.
00:21:34Dickert's awesome.
00:21:34They're doing more with less than anybody in the country.
00:21:36But that's not a game that's going to sway voters one way or another.
00:21:42So I'm going to be intrigued to see Platt.
00:21:44Are there any other names besides?
00:21:45Yeah, I have one.
00:21:46Bring me the odds back up.
00:21:48I have one.
00:21:48Bring the odds back up.
00:21:48I believe it's plus 5,000, maybe 5,500, somewhere in there.
00:21:52Let's look.
00:21:53There he is, plus 5,500.
00:21:56Drew Mestemaker from Oklahoma State.
00:21:58You want to talk about?
00:21:58Way too many letters.
00:21:59Way too many letters.
00:22:00Way too small there.
00:22:01You want to talk about a guy who's going to have a spot coming up.
00:22:05If they were to run the table, right now there's something in two, whatever in two.
00:22:08But if they were to run the table, they would beat Texas Tech at home.
00:22:11Texas Tech, obviously, playoff last year.
00:22:14Big 12 favorite this year.
00:22:15In the top 10.
00:22:16The only way they would beat Texas Tech, who is now getting some pretty good quarterback play
00:22:20and the offense is playing a lot better, is to win in a shootout.
00:22:23Drew Mestemaker, if he were to throw up a 52-45 win, could make a big move,
00:22:29of operating under the premise that Jeremiah Smith loses his lead because of the quarterback.
00:22:33Now, we're talking a lot about guys showing up in the biggest stages.
00:22:37What about a guy who just did that in Bear Bachmeier?
00:22:41If BYU, I feel like right now he's at least getting invited to New York.
00:22:46It's hard for me to see him getting all the way across the finish line.
00:22:49But he's why BYU won.
00:22:52He's why BYU won that one game.
00:22:54If you look over the balance of the year, I don't think he'll have the stats.
00:22:57He's not going to have the gauding numbers.
00:22:58Yeah, and I don't think he'll have the numbers.
00:23:00I don't think he'll have the overall body of work.
00:23:03Sometimes it's okay to be a really good quarterback for a really good team
00:23:06and not be in the Heisman race because I think if you made the whole plane
00:23:10out of that game against Notre Dame, all 12 games, yeah, maybe.
00:23:13But they really haven't done that.
00:23:15He had one game where he threw for 60 yards.
00:23:17They won a football game.
00:23:18He had another where he made a lot of mistakes.
00:23:20They won a football game.
00:23:21So I would say if the question, can BYU QB Bear Bachmeier win the Heisman,
00:23:25the answer is emphatically no.
00:23:27Okay, Cody.
00:23:29Yeah, he can't win because he wears 47.
00:23:31You just can't.
00:23:32See, I think that helps his case.
00:23:34No.
00:23:34It plays so well.
00:23:36You said he doesn't have the gauding numbers.
00:23:37He does, just not on the stat sheet.
00:23:39Top two.
00:23:39I've been thinking a lot about this, and I don't know why.
00:23:42It's only two guys.
00:23:42Top two favorite numbers in sports right now.
00:23:44It's Bachmeier wearing 47, and it's David Bailey wearing 31 for the Jets.
00:23:49I don't know if there's a story behind 31.
00:23:50It's a gross number, but he's playing great.
00:23:52It's absolutely fantastic.
00:23:53You Gen Z kids ruin sports, man.
00:23:55Are you not aware that there's a Mississippi State relief pitcher named Jack Bauer who wears
00:23:59the number 24?
00:24:00No.
00:24:01You should be, because there's a Mississippi State relief pitcher named Jack Bauer who
00:24:05wears the number 24.
00:24:06Oh, wait.
00:24:07Like, yeah, okay, I didn't get it first.
00:24:09I'm an idiot.
00:24:09Shout out, Kiefer Tutherland.
00:24:10His name is Jack Bauer.
00:24:11Yeah.
00:24:12And he wears the number 24.
00:24:13Brandon?
00:24:14I was a little too young for 24.
00:24:15I never watched it back in the day.
00:24:16If Baer Bachmeier wore nine, people would think of him way differently.
00:24:21Or, okay, let's not say nine.
00:24:22Let's say he wore three.
00:24:23Yeah.
00:24:24People would be like, oh, he's a quarterback.
00:24:26No, I know.
00:24:27That's what I'm saying.
00:24:2847 works in his favor because he's old school and he runs and he's tough.
00:24:31I think it hurts his Heisman candidacy because you need to have a coolness factor to you.
00:24:36And I don't know if people think the 47 is cool.
00:24:39I rarely do this.
00:24:40Producers, can I talk to you real quick?
00:24:41Permission to cuss.
00:24:43No.
00:24:44Wait, which word?
00:24:45Which word?
00:24:48Spell it out.
00:24:49I don't give a crap what number Baer Bachmeier wears.
00:24:57Okay, get out of here.
00:24:59Why are y'all discussing it like that?
00:25:01That affects anything.
00:25:02It does.
00:25:02Who gives a damn what he wears?
00:25:05Oh, it does.
00:25:06No, it doesn't.
00:25:07It affects how people do it.
00:25:07Connor, who gives a damn?
00:25:09For sure.
00:25:09All right, listen.
00:25:10I'm not going to say a word that I shouldn't say.
00:25:12You could go ahead, T-Bob.
00:25:13The bottom line is.
00:25:14I'm not saying it's fair.
00:25:15Go to break someone.
00:25:15He wears 47.
00:25:17I'm going to cuss.
00:25:17You know who else wears 47?
00:25:19Yeah, yeah.
00:25:20Andre Karolinko.
00:25:21David Pollack.
00:25:22And he's coming up next here on Wigan Barstool.
00:25:30What's happening, y'all?
00:25:31It is my pleasure to be joined once again by one of our favorite guests.
00:25:36It is David Pollack.
00:25:37See ball, get ball.
00:25:39Great looking man.
00:25:40Intimidating man.
00:25:41Dominating man.
00:25:42Nice man.
00:25:43What's up, David?
00:25:44How are we doing today?
00:25:45Well, I just appreciate you.
00:25:46Brandon, I appreciate the filter before I came on.
00:25:49I know you wanted to drop some serious words, but I appreciate that.
00:25:53It's too early in the morning, dude.
00:25:57All right, David, let's start here.
00:25:59We're going to get to Georgia and everything else, but this is morning sports television,
00:26:04meaning we have to talk Texas and Arch Manning.
00:26:08And I want to pick your defensive mind here because it looks to me like you see a quarterback
00:26:14that is having a bit of the yips.
00:26:16He looks a bit just overwhelmed at this point.
00:26:18Now they're talking about giving one reps to KJ.
00:26:22Love the backup.
00:26:23What do you think?
00:26:24Is Arch Manning at risk of being benched in Texas right now?
00:26:29I mean, he has to be.
00:26:30I mean, it feels a lot like the Bryce Underwood conversation.
00:26:34Like, Bryce, we were talking about that for weeks and weeks, and Kyle Whittingham was
00:26:38kind of dropping it for weeks and weeks, and then it happened.
00:26:41Like, listen, the bottom line with Arch Manning is, for example, look at Gunnar Stockton and
00:26:48where he is.
00:26:50Look at Arch Manning and where he is.
00:26:52Like, we all knew Arch Manning was better, but Gunnar Stockton has developed and gotten
00:26:56better and better and better.
00:26:58Arch Manning has absolutely stayed the same.
00:27:00You know, another thing that I kind of worry about with him, Matt?
00:27:02Does he ever look like he's having fun?
00:27:04No.
00:27:05No, no.
00:27:05Ever.
00:27:06Last year, at the end, when he went on the run last year, was like, he looked at then,
00:27:10but majority of the time, no.
00:27:12Yeah, and listen, he's not playing great, and it's not because of the talent.
00:27:16Like, and I said this all last year, and I'll say it again.
00:27:20Like, this falls a lot on Sark.
00:27:22It's not all on Arch.
00:27:24Like, you're supposed to develop your guy, and he's supposed to know his answers and how
00:27:28to go to one to two to three.
00:27:29And listen, there are guys open, and he does miss guys 100%.
00:27:32But, like, also, I don't think they've done a great job with him making this offense easy.
00:27:38I've seen a lot of places where they've done the offense down, made it easier.
00:27:41And guess what?
00:27:42Arch's legs are really good.
00:27:44Like, he's a really good athlete.
00:27:45So, you could afford to use them more because you brought in high-priced running backs,
00:27:50high-priced receivers, and your return on the investment has been very low.
00:27:54And that's just a fact.
00:27:56Hey, David.
00:27:57Brandon Walker, number one college football media personality in the world, also a renowned
00:28:01cusser.
00:28:02I would like to ask you about the Georgia Bulldogs.
00:28:05Two weeks ago, they go to Tuscaloosa, and the defense looks incredible.
00:28:09And after coming out of Tuscaloosa, I would say, well, there's your national champion.
00:28:12And then the next week, against Auburn, up 14-0, and it all falls apart, and they lose.
00:28:19Anything in that loss?
00:28:20You think that loss is just put aside, and you can move past it pretty quickly?
00:28:23Or did they show you anything to be concerned about as a title contender?
00:28:27Kirby always says humility's a week away.
00:28:29And it was, right?
00:28:31Like, it was, listen, I'm not concerned with Georgia.
00:28:34Like, there's a lot to be concerned with in college football.
00:28:37I've never been at week eight in a season, Brandon.
00:28:39And I know you're the number one guy, so I'm down the list a little bit.
00:28:42But, like, I've never been week eight in a season.
00:28:44And I've never, I don't, if you ask me to put my life on the line for a champion, I
00:28:49have
00:28:49no clue.
00:28:50Like, I literally have no clue.
00:28:52I've never been at this point in all my years of doing this.
00:28:55But here's the thing about Georgia.
00:28:56They lost the turnover battle three to nothing.
00:28:58You don't win those games.
00:29:00You're not even in those games.
00:29:01And the margins have gotten so thin over the years with everybody going to different places
00:29:05and the talent spreading out.
00:29:07I think it was an anomaly.
00:29:09I'm going with an anomaly because Gunnar Stockton doesn't do this.
00:29:11Like, he doesn't turn the football over.
00:29:13He didn't have three on the season, more or less three in one game.
00:29:16And so I think they'll be just fine.
00:29:19And I think you can trust Georgia, their DNA, who they are, to be very much in the mix to
00:29:24be, to win a championship.
00:29:26Well, David, just speaking about teams that can win a championship, the new number one
00:29:29team in the country, the Miami Hurricanes, obviously started the Mario Cristobal era off
00:29:34kind of rough.
00:29:36Things weren't looking so great for the first couple years.
00:29:38And then they win 10 games.
00:29:39Then they go to a national championship.
00:29:41And now they're number one in the country.
00:29:42In a college football world that is so much about immediate results, and you bring a new
00:29:48coach in, and they got to win right away, what can you say about Mario Cristobal and what
00:29:53they built down there in Miami now that you're seeing the results?
00:29:56That wasn't a question about Miami at all, was it?
00:29:58It's a question about Miami.
00:29:59It's a question about Miami.
00:30:00Listen, Miami's in a great spot.
00:30:03And we knew coming into this season, when they got Mensa, like, this was going to go bananas.
00:30:07And we talked about it so much, about how much better he is than Carson Beck.
00:30:11That's not a knock on Carson Beck.
00:30:13Mensa's just that good throwing the football.
00:30:15Sometimes it takes a little time to implement your culture.
00:30:18Here's the thing.
00:30:18I'll be honest.
00:30:19I had doubts about Cristobal.
00:30:21Like, I saw some of the game management flaws.
00:30:24Like, I saw some of the things that I didn't necessarily like.
00:30:27What you got to like about Miami is Miami, first of all, understands one thing more than
00:30:32anything.
00:30:32I better have my QB.
00:30:34We're having a totally different conversation about Miami if they didn't get Mensa.
00:30:38And they struck out on a bunch of guys.
00:30:39But they're like, all right, we're going to write an even bigger check.
00:30:43We have to have a guy that can pull the trigger.
00:30:46They got that taken care of.
00:30:47If I'm Miami, and I think this will be, you look at them with Cam Ward, right, a couple
00:30:52years before that.
00:30:53Like, I think Miami is really ahead of the curve.
00:30:55I would do this.
00:30:56Why am I buying a high school kid that I don't know what they are?
00:31:00Like, if I'm going to drop money, I'm not doing the Bryce Underwood thing, man.
00:31:03Like, I'm going to go find a kid.
00:31:05I'm going to go find a dude that has done it at a high level.
00:31:09Now I'll break the bank.
00:31:10Now I understand exactly what I'm getting.
00:31:12Miami got a dude at quarterback that activated, you know, Tony, that made this offense go to
00:31:18another level.
00:31:19That's smart business, right?
00:31:21That's a great job I do.
00:31:22And then you couple that with Cristobal's toughness and physicality and who they are.
00:31:27Like, that's why they're very much in it if they can get the secondary healthy and fixed
00:31:31up a little bit.
00:31:32David, you're not going to believe this, but online there's a lot of people mad at
00:31:35me for one of my college football takes.
00:31:37They're all in the Big 12, where I said the other day, both on my show, the Brandon Walker
00:31:42College Football Show, and on this show, Monday morning, that I think there needs to be some
00:31:45brake pumping about the Big 12.
00:31:47Right now they have three top ten teams.
00:31:48I think that's a mirage.
00:31:49I think it's fake.
00:31:50I think it's just based on other conferences being tougher to get through.
00:31:54Should I shut up and just let them enjoy it, or do you believe in these Big 12 teams?
00:31:59I'm talking about BYU, who just beat Notre Dame, Texas Tech, who went to the playoff last
00:32:02year, and then Utah, who's at number ten for no good reason whatsoever.
00:32:07Winning, but...
00:32:07And you throw Houston in there, too, being really competitive.
00:32:10I think, you know, year in and year out, one of the cool things about the Big 12 is they're
00:32:14the most competitive league, top to bottom.
00:32:17Yeah.
00:32:17Like, there's always so much fun, and the games are back and forth, and anybody can beat
00:32:21anybody.
00:32:22I mean, I think, Brandon, I don't disagree with your premise completely, but I do think
00:32:28that when you look at these squads, I think because they don't play each other, this isn't
00:32:32going to change.
00:32:33Like, Texas Tech doesn't play BYU.
00:32:36They don't play Utah.
00:32:38Like, we're not going to know a little bit more.
00:32:40I do think the schedules have been extremely soft, and they're going to continue to be,
00:32:45they're going to play each other.
00:32:45I mean, think about the world now where Houston beats Utah, and then now you're looking at
00:32:51if Houston beats Texas Tech, and you're a three-way tie, you might get three teams in
00:32:55the mix.
00:32:55Yeah.
00:32:56And that's crazy.
00:32:56And we didn't even talk about BYU, so I think it is a little bit of product of the
00:33:01schedule, just like BYU.
00:33:02BYU's a really, really good team.
00:33:03Bear Bachmeier's an absolute stud, whether he's wearing 47 or not, right?
00:33:07Like, he's a great player.
00:33:09But we also forget that the last three games before last week were decided by a seven-point
00:33:14range, an eight-point range, right?
00:33:15They're competitive games.
00:33:17And so I think it's a really, really good conference.
00:33:20Do I think it's a three-bid league team for the playoffs that are going to go do some damage
00:33:24in the playoffs?
00:33:25I don't.
00:33:26David, first of all, I want to compliment you on avoiding the trap that Brandon tried
00:33:29to set for you right there to get people angry at you, the anger off of him onto you.
00:33:33Great job avoiding that.
00:33:34No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:33:36Second, I'm just curious.
00:33:37You said you didn't have a team that you would stake as a national champion in week eight.
00:33:42But is there a team you're currently buying stock in, maybe outside of the top eight,
00:33:46top 12, that you believe has a chance to at least make a run, make a college football
00:33:51playoff, or even win their conference, something like that?
00:33:54You want to get really weird this morning?
00:33:56Yes.
00:33:57Let's get a little weird, David.
00:33:59Look at Kentucky's schedule.
00:34:01Oh, yeah.
00:34:03It's not as bad as we thought.
00:34:05No.
00:34:05They're better than we thought.
00:34:07Kirby Smart just said, like, hey, there is no, you know, there is no Cignetti effect in
00:34:11the SEC.
00:34:12Well, right now it is Will Stein.
00:34:14I mean, they're playing great football.
00:34:17They, here's the thing, because everything is so much more together now, and there's
00:34:22so much less balance, like, first of all, look at that.
00:34:25Yeah.
00:34:26If they, if they, if they win, they got a chance to be in the SEC championship game,
00:34:30which is absolutely nuts.
00:34:31But like, they haven't turned the football over since Alabama.
00:34:35Yeah.
00:34:35Not one time.
00:34:36And they take it, they take it away at a high level.
00:34:39They run it.
00:34:40They have balance on offense.
00:34:41Like, if you can be a team like that, you're going to be in every game.
00:34:44The schedule sets up pretty good where they got a bye week.
00:34:48Actually got a bye week with Vanderbilt too, but a bye week the next week, and then play
00:34:51at Tennessee, which is really, really tough.
00:34:53And then if you can do some things against Missouri and Florida, and then you got Louisville
00:34:57at the end, man, they might be right there in the mix.
00:34:59And Will Stein, look at Oregon's offense right now.
00:35:03Yeah.
00:35:03And you point, and you look in Lexington and you go, oh, I see why.
00:35:08That guy.
00:35:09Yeah.
00:35:10I mean, it's, it's, it's Will Stein proving everything here early on.
00:35:13Um, David, I want to look at, uh, the, the SEC right now.
00:35:17There's some, there's some great two loss teams or some very strong two loss teams, right?
00:35:22However, due to the schedule, uh, they're going to play each other.
00:35:25They're going to eliminate each other.
00:35:26So if you're looking at like, uh, Texas, Alabama, LSU, uh, which two loss team do you believe
00:35:33in the most going forward?
00:35:36I, I, I would say, first of all, Texas, I'm out.
00:35:39Okay.
00:35:40I short sold that stock.
00:35:42Like I'm, I'm good.
00:35:42I'm out.
00:35:43Um, Alabama is, is definitely disturbing.
00:35:46That it's not the, it's not the fact that you lost like Georgia losing and having three
00:35:50turnovers and beating themselves is one thing you got hit upside the head with a frying
00:35:54pan.
00:35:54Like you went to Neyland and got dominated physically.
00:35:57That that's a problem that like, it gives me cause for pause.
00:36:00The thing about LSU, obviously two really, really close losses.
00:36:04Can you give me weeks and trade as back?
00:36:07Like I'm, I host Alabama.
00:36:09Like I think LSU and listen, I thought this before they lost, before they got their last
00:36:14loss to Kentucky that this is a really, this is a good football team.
00:36:17Sam Levitt's had some bad luck with the turnover margin with some weird tips.
00:36:21Like, I just don't think that will continue.
00:36:23I think he's playing really, really good football.
00:36:25I think his development from the pocket, like, and now you look at the schedule.
00:36:29I'm not as scared of Texas, but I do host Texas and Alabama, but man, Tennessee keeps
00:36:34being that team that keeps popping up on these schedules, right?
00:36:36That, that can be the team that ruins all of this and especially the way they're playing
00:36:40on the defense.
00:36:41But if I like LSU and if they can get weeks back and green back, man, I mean, now you
00:36:45got Umami Ellen who's, who's banged up like they're a little bit banged up, but those
00:36:49guys, I like their consistency throughout the season.
00:36:53David, some of the major news coming out today, Julian saying, looking like he's going to
00:36:56be out for potentially the entire season for Ohio State, uh, what does this do to the team
00:37:02as a whole in, in your mind?
00:37:04Like, are they still a playoff team?
00:37:06Is that off the table?
00:37:07Certainly feels like a championship would be off.
00:37:10Well, first of all, put up Ohio State's schedule too, because this is the toughest schedule
00:37:15they've ever had and no gimme's the rest of the way, like none, no gimme's.
00:37:20So that's a bad spot.
00:37:21Here's what I'll say.
00:37:22And this isn't going to be popular probably with a lot of people in Columbus.
00:37:25I don't think the way Julian saying was playing gave them a chance to win a championship anyway.
00:37:31Yeah, I think that's fair.
00:37:32I was, I was, I was, I was discouraged watching him because I think I know he's gotten better,
00:37:37but man, when Indiana bracketed and double covered in zone or man, whatever it looked
00:37:41like Jeremiah Smith, he, he looked very lost and he missed a lot of throws.
00:37:45Now, listen, you're bringing in a true freshman.
00:37:47You're going to take true freshman lumps, but I also am going to go like this.
00:37:52Hey, Hey, listen, young buck, come here.
00:37:53Your first read, your second read in your third read is number four, like just throw
00:37:58it to him every freaking play.
00:38:00Like, so maybe, but, but, but the, the problem with this is the offensive line is not in a
00:38:06good spot for Ohio state.
00:38:07They don't push people around.
00:38:09So they have to depend on the throw game more.
00:38:12Now you're bringing in a young buck, man.
00:38:13I just, it's trouble in Columbus.
00:38:17David, you're the absolute best man.
00:38:18I know it's a busy time of year.
00:38:20Thank you for the time.
00:38:20See ball, get ball.
00:38:22It's a great college football show.
00:38:23Go check it out.
00:38:24Thank you, David.
00:38:26Appreciate you.
00:38:27Mother suckers.
00:38:29He's the man.
00:38:31Let's go.
00:38:32All right.
00:38:33Coming up next.
00:38:33Let's go.
00:38:34Brandon.
00:38:35It's time for Griffins and outs.
00:38:36I'm going to cuss so much.
00:38:45It's time for everybody's favorite segment.
00:38:47It's Connor Griffins, Griffins and outs.
00:38:49Connor, take it away.
00:38:49Thank you to you, Bob.
00:38:50You know, I love you to death.
00:38:52We are talking about the things that we saw in sports the past week that we would like
00:38:56to bring with us into the weeks beyond as well as the stuff that we can leave behind
00:38:59because it's not so cool.
00:39:00First and foremost, a thing that is in, a thing that will always be in, it's Star Wars.
00:39:06It was just announced that this year's Super Bowl will have a Star Wars themed animated
00:39:11alt cast for it that I'll be tuning into.
00:39:14And we're all Star Wars guys here.
00:39:15Here's Brandon.
00:39:16Well, no, that's just the Mostly Sports murder mystery.
00:39:19Yeah.
00:39:19Nothing to do with.
00:39:20No, but we do Star Wars shows on Mostly Sports, which is a show that everybody should check
00:39:25out.
00:39:25Not in the.
00:39:2610 a.m.
00:39:26T-Bob made an appearance on our last Star Wars show that we did on Mostly Sports.
00:39:30But Brandon always likes to talk about, oh, Star Wars, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:39:34The rest of the sports world is eating up Star Wars right now.
00:39:37And it will be a major thing in February.
00:39:40I saw a clip from Brandon the other day where he was referencing Luke Skywalker in a college
00:39:46football take.
00:39:46So make no mistake, he is one of us.
00:39:49He loves Star Wars.
00:39:50It's very much.
00:39:51Super Bowl's a little crazy for this.
00:39:53Eh.
00:39:54Because I'm not going to watch this.
00:39:55Like, I'm not going to watch.
00:39:56If it was another game, I would watch the alt cast.
00:39:58I don't think I'm going to.
00:39:59Well, also, Darth Vader, I heard there was a thing online.
00:40:03He might be interviewing players in the next coming week.
00:40:06He doesn't exist.
00:40:07They were saying that Darth Vader during football games might be actually.
00:40:11Was that a long, long time ago?
00:40:11You think that you exist more than Darth Vader?
00:40:14You think that you have had a fictional character, too, Bob?
00:40:16More than Darth Vader.
00:40:17He doesn't exist.
00:40:18Okay.
00:40:19All right.
00:40:19Why would he be the one to interview players?
00:40:21Why not Yoda?
00:40:23Why not Han Solo?
00:40:25He's a charismatic guy.
00:40:26Why not Spock?
00:40:27Okay.
00:40:27Dan Quinn forked out, did you know it was?
00:40:31And that's why we talk Star Wars on the show.
00:40:34Moving on, I am very much out on the referee slander.
00:40:38Too many times we just point to the refs and say, oh, it's their fault.
00:40:41They're the worst people.
00:40:42They go through injuries.
00:40:43They're battling out there on the football field, too.
00:40:46There was a referee who went down with a non-contact injury.
00:40:49I believe he's going to have to miss the rest of the year, from what I read.
00:40:52And you had this other referee take a knee.
00:40:55If you're 72, you've got to hit a knee next to your boy, right?
00:40:58Yeah.
00:40:59Like, what's he doing?
00:41:00If one ref hits a knee in front of you, you've got to join up.
00:41:04All refs got to hit it.
00:41:05I saw this the other day.
00:41:07It put things into perspective.
00:41:08We look at these guys as if they're not even human.
00:41:11We could say whatever we want about them.
00:41:13We could criticize them.
00:41:14They stink.
00:41:15Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:41:15They go through what a lot of football players go through, too.
00:41:19And it's a hard time out there.
00:41:21Underrated ref moment.
00:41:22Which touchdown?
00:41:23I can't remember.
00:41:24There was a touchdown this weekend.
00:41:25They decided the game.
00:41:26It was a big touchdown.
00:41:27I can't remember which game it was.
00:41:28But the ref had to duck under the ball.
00:41:30It was awesome.
00:41:30Yeah, it was.
00:41:31Might have been BYU.
00:41:32It was BYU.
00:41:33Okay, okay.
00:41:33Yeah, perfect.
00:41:34So, not enough credit.
00:41:36You're right.
00:41:36Yeah.
00:41:37My next in, it's in-er-peace.
00:41:41In-er-peace.
00:41:42No, not like that, Cody.
00:41:44Not like that.
00:41:44In-er-peace.
00:41:46It's inner-peace is very much in.
00:41:48Let's roll the highlights.
00:41:50We got Jayla Brown, who obviously had a great game last night.
00:41:53Great debut for the Sixers.
00:41:55But he also revealed in a clip earlier this week that he has a person he hired come play the
00:42:01harp.
00:42:02A harpist.
00:42:02Yeah, a harpist at his place while his chef is cooking dinner and there's a nice sunset coming into.
00:42:09I'm usually a guy who's like, hey, listen, let's be a little bit responsible with our money here.
00:42:13As long as he's not going on a podcast and saying, like, listen, it's kind of hard to be only
00:42:18making $100 million a year and then I'm fine with it.
00:42:20This is prioritizing peace, tranquility.
00:42:23He's got a harpist coming to us.
00:42:25No, we have a harpist in this company.
00:42:26Who?
00:42:26Casey Smith.
00:42:28Harpist?
00:42:28Harpist?
00:42:29Harpist.
00:42:29I did not know.
00:42:30Wait, harpist or?
00:42:32Harpy?
00:42:32Harpy?
00:42:33No, harpist.
00:42:34No, harpy.
00:42:34I think harpy is sort of.
00:42:37I thought that was a Yu-Gi-Oh character.
00:42:40It's Game of Thrones.
00:42:41Yeah.
00:42:42I mean, that sounds delightful.
00:42:44If you had, if I had money, like, that's how I'd want to spend it.
00:42:47Hey, hey, FS1.
00:42:49Give us a harpist.
00:42:51Yeah.
00:42:51Yeah.
00:42:51It's not the young station back there.
00:42:52What if it was replaced by a harpist?
00:42:54It would be really good.
00:42:56But speaking of a lot of money, I'm out on theft.
00:43:00This just goes for a principle in life.
00:43:04Wait.
00:43:04Okay, yeah.
00:43:05Yeah.
00:43:05We're leaving this behind in this week, right?
00:43:07So we were cool with theft up until this week?
00:43:09No, no.
00:43:10Well, I mean, it's just a story that you see.
00:43:12It's tough.
00:43:13There was a FedEx truck that was robbed.
00:43:16There was about roughly a million dollars worth of trading cards, you know, sports trading
00:43:21cards primarily, in this truck, the FedEx truck.
00:43:24It reminds me of that movie back in the day, like, one of the first movies ever made,
00:43:28The Great FedEx Robbery, where they stole, they hopped on the FedEx truck, and they robbed
00:43:33all the cards.
00:43:34And there are a lot of people.
00:43:34This is why this segment's six.
00:43:35What's the Great FedEx Robbery, Joe?
00:43:37You're saying the Great Train Robbery.
00:43:38There are a lot of people who are missing their trading cards today, and this is one of the
00:43:42most booming businesses in all sports.
00:43:44It's the trading card business.
00:43:45Now, I was asking.
00:43:46And these people just hijacked the truck.
00:43:48I was asking, Eddie, about this.
00:43:49I mean, a pretty fun kind of low-stakes thing to steal, though.
00:43:52It sucks that people got their cards.
00:43:53Well, they're not low-stakes.
00:43:55Sorry, monetary stakes.
00:43:56But you're not, like, you know, no actual societal impact.
00:44:00Right.
00:44:00I did hear that people got their cards sold.
00:44:02Maybe you get, like, I think PSA's going to give them face value.
00:44:04But even then, that sucks, because the whole point is to sit on these things and try to
00:44:08make money.
00:44:09And it's about the memory of those.
00:44:11I'm going to be completely honest.
00:44:12I don't know.
00:44:13I don't feel that bad for these.
00:44:14No, I don't feel that bad for these card guys.
00:44:15Why not?
00:44:17Because sports cards may be a little bit different, but, like, watching these scalpers and these
00:44:20adults just absolutely ruin, like, things like Pokemon.
00:44:23No, adults do ruin the card industry.
00:44:24I will agree with that.
00:44:25So, sorry, guys.
00:44:27I don't really get in the card industry.
00:44:28Okay.
00:44:28I'm more of a memorabilia guy.
00:44:30All right, all right, all right.
00:44:30Have you found your Kamaru yet?
00:44:33I'm in negotiations.
00:44:34Oh, okay.
00:44:35Let's go, dude.
00:44:37All right.
00:44:38Well, my last in of the day, it's doppelgangers.
00:44:42You really don't see a whole lot of doppelgangers, just in general, but especially in sports.
00:44:46We had an awesome situation.
00:44:48Yeah, this is crazy.
00:44:49Where Golden State, they're playing a basketball game, and this guy who looks exactly like Steve
00:44:53Kerr sits, what is that, four rows behind the Warriors bench?
00:44:56And Steve Kerr is just, like, dumbfounded by it.
00:44:58And he looks behind.
00:44:59Apparently, this has been happening for a while.
00:45:02That guy's name is also Steve, by the way.
00:45:04Yes, it is.
00:45:05No, no.
00:45:05And he was taking pictures with Roger Federer a couple years ago at a game.
00:45:09He's a doppelganger for Steve Kerr.
00:45:11It's been happening to him for a long time now where people confuse him for Steve Kerr.
00:45:15So, I loved this video because I thought it, like, just kind of happened naturally because
00:45:20he's not really calling attention to himself.
00:45:22But is this a bit, Ebo?
00:45:24I don't know.
00:45:25Out of crowd Steve?
00:45:26This doesn't look like a big guy to me.
00:45:28He doesn't look like, you're right.
00:45:30To be fair, he does not.
00:45:32It's serious.
00:45:33Not to judge a book by its cover, but.
00:45:35Speaking of doppelgangers.
00:45:35The best way to judge a book, by the way.
00:45:37Movie.
00:45:38Yeah.
00:45:38It's pretty crazy.
00:45:39That's Steve Kerr's story.
00:45:40We got doppelgangers in this company.
00:45:42Yeah.
00:45:43Movie.
00:45:44Shout out to Movie.
00:45:47I think we should put a picture of Movie and Cody next to each other now.
00:45:49What do you got next?
00:45:50Start the next segment.
00:45:50Yeah.
00:45:51That would be good.
00:45:52Start the second hour.
00:45:52My last out, Brandon's had some takes on this.
00:45:55I'm out on false promises because the Milwaukee Brewers are catching some heat today.
00:46:00They put out these timeless tickets back in 2015.
00:46:04They told fans you could buy these tickets.
00:46:06They were $1,000 on sale for $1,000 a piece.
00:46:09You buy a ticket.
00:46:10You can use it at any future Brewers home game, including the postseason, including the World Series,
00:46:15and we'll give you the best tickets available.
00:46:18Well, you did have some people back in 2015 buy these tickets.
00:46:21They finally cashed them in just this time around for the 2026 World Series,
00:46:25and they were told the best seats they could get were the 400 level, the terrace level, standing room only.
00:46:32But I think it's a bad look.
00:46:34But value-wise, that's still more expensive than the ticket they bought.
00:46:39There are some tickets that they were showing were only going for like $971.
00:46:42Oh, okay.
00:46:43Sorry.
00:46:43They spent more back in 2015.
00:46:46Hold on, T-Bob.
00:46:47I got to take care, okay?
00:46:48I'm out on these two brothers.
00:46:50I'm out on these guys.
00:46:51The ones who bought the tickets.
00:46:53They bought these tickets fine.
00:46:54They bought the tickets.
00:46:55Yay, good for you, and you would have expected better value.
00:46:58I get that.
00:46:59But your team is in the World Series for the first time in 44 years,
00:47:02and then you choose now to come out and say,
00:47:04then you put them in the news for a bad reason,
00:47:06and now the Milwaukee Brewers have bad PR because of you?
00:47:10Almost cussed.
00:47:11Almost cussed.
00:47:12Because that's BS.
00:47:14So they did say, the Brewers came back and said that you could still keep that 400-level terrorist ticket
00:47:23for this World Series,
00:47:24and the timeless ticket will still apply for one future game.
00:47:28Oh, my God.
00:47:28So what are they complaining about?
00:47:30I don't want to be overly litigious, but they did say best seat available.
00:47:34It's the World Series.
00:47:36The seats are going to be purchased up.
00:47:38Like, people that are actually paying for it, I'm like, if you want to use it on the biggest stage,
00:47:41you have to accept you're not going to get a very good seat.
00:47:44Ibo, where do you stand?
00:47:46I think it's a bad investment.
00:47:48It's a stupid thing to buy.
00:47:50Not everybody has $1,000 to spare, like Brandon Walker.
00:47:54Well, they had $1,000 to spare 11 years ago.
00:47:57They have $4,450 right now if they had any sense.
00:48:00Yeah, but in the market.
00:48:01I don't think they made a false promise, though.
00:48:03It's at best seats available.
00:48:05It's the World Series.
00:48:06And the value of the ticket is still more than $1,000.
00:48:09But back in 2018, when the Brewers made it to the NLCS, there were reports that, like,
00:48:14if the timeless ticket were to be applied in the World Series, if the Brewers were to make it there,
00:48:17they'd be, like, right behind home plate.
00:48:20Like, so it's a matter of what you promise versus what you give.
00:48:24And, yes, in this situation, the Brewers have caught in a lot of heat.
00:48:26And I just want to make sure that we mean what we say.
00:48:29I'm with Brandon.
00:48:30Not staying with Brandon.
00:48:30I'm out on this out.
00:48:31Yeah.
00:48:32Screw them, guys.
00:48:33All right.
00:48:34Coming up next, guys, hour number two.
00:48:36We got some NFL news.
00:48:37Do you buy it?
00:48:38The college football confidence level.
00:48:40And Ibo's going to give us a World Series preview, Ibo.
00:48:44Who has the edge?
00:48:47Coom.
00:48:53What's happening, y'all?
00:48:54Welcome back to Wake Up Bars.
00:48:56We've got a big hour coming for you here.
00:48:57A lot of NFL talk.
00:48:59A lot of college football talk.
00:49:01Of course, shout out the NBA.
00:49:03It's back.
00:49:04Big day if you're a Sixers fan.
00:49:06They win.
00:49:07Jalen Brown winning day one of the breakup.
00:49:11The Celtics blow.
00:49:11One game we didn't touch on.
00:49:13The Boston Celtics blow.
00:49:14A 20-point third quarter lead to the Pistons.
00:49:18It was bad.
00:49:19What are we?
00:49:19Okay.
00:49:19We're too slow on each other?
00:49:20No, no, no.
00:49:21I'm not letting.
00:49:22No.
00:49:22I'm not letting you too slow me.
00:49:24I'm not letting too slow culture infect Wake Up Barstool.
00:49:28We established a level of trust and friendship on the show.
00:49:31Once you too slow a guy, you've put a gangrenous wound in the relationship.
00:49:37What are you saying?
00:49:38Gangrenous?
00:49:38If you too slow someone, Cody, have you.
00:49:40What's this overdramatic crap?
00:49:41No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:49:42Once you too slow someone, you put a gangrenous infection in the friendship.
00:49:46I hate that.
00:49:46No, you don't, dude.
00:49:48Anyway, how do we feel about the Eagles?
00:49:51You can go home now, Bobby.
00:49:53Bobby, you can go home.
00:49:57We got Bobby at home.
00:49:59I just got Cody running things over there.
00:50:02I just got him.
00:50:02Cody, where are we going next?
00:50:03Cody, keep going.
00:50:04Cody, switch.
00:50:04Jalen Hurts out for the season.
00:50:06What's next for the Eagles?
00:50:07Cody, switch.
00:50:08You got it.
00:50:08Come on over here, Coach.
00:50:09You won.
00:50:12You won.
00:50:13I'm over here now.
00:50:14Cody, run this.
00:50:15All right, Cody, take us where we need to go.
00:50:17Look, it's on my computer if you need the sheet.
00:50:19Oh, I don't need the sheet.
00:50:20I just got it up here, too, Bob.
00:50:23Jalen Hurts out for the season.
00:50:25So, Connor, what's next for the Eagles as we look ahead?
00:50:27Great question to you, Bob.
00:50:28I think it's very much a reset year.
00:50:32You already had a bunch of injuries.
00:50:34You already traded away Cam Juergens.
00:50:36You already had Lane Johnson retire.
00:50:39There was a lot of things in flux.
00:50:41You're playing with a hospital squad right now.
00:50:43This team, I mean, yeah, you're going to figure out a lot on Monday against the Cowboys.
00:50:47But if you lose, then, yeah, it's a full-on reset year.
00:50:50You get a high draft pick.
00:50:51T-Bob, you want to be in the number one answering chair so you can answer the host?
00:50:55You want to be this guy?
00:50:56I got to take.
00:50:57We'll switch out.
00:50:57No, I got to think about this.
00:51:00T-Bob, can you just look into where Jalen Hurts went to college for me?
00:51:03Yeah.
00:51:04Hold on one second.
00:51:04Can you look into that?
00:51:05I locked my computer so he can't do anything.
00:51:08Yeah, I can't.
00:51:08I actually can't.
00:51:09Yeah, no, I can't.
00:51:11He went to college at Alabama than Oklahoma.
00:51:14Okay, cool, cool, cool.
00:51:15He did have, in 2019, he had one of the greatest college football seasons that we've never talked about.
00:51:19Because Joe Burrow.
00:51:21It's about enough for you.
00:51:22All right, boys, do you buy it?
00:51:24Okay, so the Vikings' early season success undefeated right now, are they legit?
00:51:40I do not buy it.
00:51:41I think they are, of all the undefeated teams, they're obviously the worst.
00:51:45I think they might be the worst team in that division.
00:51:48I know the defense is great, but at some point you're going to have to score points and you're going
00:51:51to have to have a quarterback make some plays.
00:51:53And I don't see them having it.
00:51:54I look at this division, I still think they're the worst team in that division, even though they are currently
00:51:585-0.
00:51:59I'm not buying it, but last year we did see a team with a reclamation quarterback who wasn't that good.
00:52:06Yeah.
00:52:07With an elite defense.
00:52:08Won the Super Bowl.
00:52:09Won the Super Bowl.
00:52:10Yeah.
00:52:10And it's like, maybe you don't have to have all the things go right.
00:52:14Maybe you just need a couple of pieces.
00:52:16And these Vikings went 14-3 a couple years ago, also with a reclamation quarterback.
00:52:20It was the same reclamation quarterback, but it was still, they went 14-3.
00:52:24Listen, I'm not buying.
00:52:26But looking forward, they probably beat the Colts, but they might lose the next four after that.
00:52:32So I'm not buying.
00:52:34Are they a solid team?
00:52:36Is that defense elite?
00:52:37Yes.
00:52:37But I don't buy them as a serious contender.
00:52:40T-Bob, can you pull up the odds, the current odds in the NFC?
00:52:44Can you get that up on the screen for me?
00:52:45It looks like, it looks like Syndrome from the Incredibles.
00:52:48Incredibles, yeah.
00:52:50I would hate to put Cody's password in wrong a bunch of times and get him locked down.
00:52:54Okay, so Vikings 7-1.
00:52:55Wow.
00:52:56Terrible.
00:52:56What's the next, do you buy it?
00:52:58The Broncos can win the AFC West with Bo Nix at quarterback.
00:53:02Do you buy it?
00:53:04I do not buy that one, Connor Griffin.
00:53:07I wouldn't buy it solely because of Chiefs existing.
00:53:12He's doing the segment.
00:53:14You've created a monster.
00:53:16I don't want to say I don't buy it because of Bo Nix.
00:53:20I want to make that very clear.
00:53:21I just think that the Chiefs are the better team in that division.
00:53:24I feel like Bo Nix being the quarterback would be a primary reason not to buy it, though.
00:53:28But, for instance, if the Chiefs were kind of middling away, if Mahomes was a shell of himself
00:53:34after the injury of Travis Kelsey, wasn't the Travis Kelsey...
00:53:37But this is more about the Chiefs being good for you.
00:53:39It's more about the Chiefs being good than the Broncos having limitations with Bo Nix at quarterback.
00:53:42I think I kind of buy it, even though I don't think Bo Nix is even remotely, like Fitzpatrick said,
00:53:49competitive at quarterback.
00:53:51We've lost the locker room.
00:53:52You're in charge.
00:53:54I can't control that.
00:53:56What is that?
00:53:58When did he get tape?
00:54:02The Packers are a better team in the last three weeks than they were in the first three weeks.
00:54:06You know Men in Black?
00:54:07You didn't buy it.
00:54:08Why would I not buy that?
00:54:09Who wrote that one?
00:54:10I don't know.
00:54:10I might have read it wrong.
00:54:13The Packers are more the...
00:54:14Oh, okay.
00:54:15I see what it's saying.
00:54:16The team from the last three weeks, that's more who they are than the first three weeks.
00:54:19Yes.
00:54:20No, the Packers are somewhere in between both these...
00:54:24We have seen them be otherworldly and then also be a dog that has to go out and...
00:54:30But which version of them is closer to the real thing?
00:54:32I think the idea...
00:54:34The Packers are just a coin flip every week.
00:54:37You either get heads or tails.
00:54:38I don't know.
00:54:38They came into this season with a lot of stink.
00:54:41They had a losing streak.
00:54:42It was hard to snap.
00:54:43They snapped it.
00:54:44Now they're finally getting their rhythm back.
00:54:45I think it's more the last three weeks.
00:54:48But, yeah, the games that they've been playing, specifically the past two, I don't think are what we're going to
00:54:52be seeing from Green Bay.
00:54:53They also got the Bears at home.
00:54:55They got the Cowboys at home.
00:54:56Their road schedule coming up at Lions, at Patriots, at Rams.
00:55:00Like, it gets a little bit rough going on the road a little bit later in the season.
00:55:04First place in the division, Panthers coming into town.
00:55:06That's a tough stretch.
00:55:07I mean, Drake may all the way back.
00:55:12That's what I want to get to, Ibo.
00:55:13The Panthers, are they the best team in the NFC South?
00:55:17Oh, it's the game where he has to guess on his head.
00:55:21I think, like, Connor, but not Connor yesterday.
00:55:24Connor, for like two weeks, he's a what?
00:55:28Well, he has tape over his mouth, so he can't really talk.
00:55:30Yeah, the Panthers are the best team in the NFC South.
00:55:32Also, he wrote that.
00:55:33I guess that's true.
00:55:34J.J. McCarthy's new change of scenery, will it save his career?
00:55:40Save his career in what sense?
00:55:42He's not...
00:55:43Fix his career, I guess.
00:55:44Right.
00:55:44He's not an NFL quarterback.
00:55:47He hasn't even started.
00:55:47You know, it looked pretty good in the fourth quarter the other day, but that's one stretch
00:55:51of 15 minutes.
00:55:52It was really 11 minutes, so no, I don't think so.
00:55:55I think this was an aberration.
00:55:57Okay.
00:55:58I think the thing about J.J. McCarthy is this.
00:56:00He is developing as a quarterback.
00:56:01You know what the really good news for him actually is, and you might agree with this?
00:56:05There's nothing coming behind him.
00:56:07Nothing.
00:56:08There is nothing in the college game that we are inspired by in terms of professional quarterback
00:56:13play.
00:56:14But he's got now all the time in the world, probably, to develop.
00:56:17And Jackson Dart gets hurt every year, so maybe just stick where you're at.
00:56:21Just exist.
00:56:22The Texans will repeat last season and make the playoffs after an awful start.
00:56:26Do you buy it?
00:56:27No.
00:56:27I think I do buy that.
00:56:29Now, I can't guarantee that, but I think I can see a path where going forward that is
00:56:35possible.
00:56:36You know, they win this week, then they beat bye week.
00:56:38And then they could be 4-4 after the Chargers game.
00:56:42I think they make the playoffs what you saw from them, really what you've seen from them
00:56:46the entire season.
00:56:46The offense has been good.
00:56:48It's just a matter of whether or not that defense can dial back in.
00:56:50And the Jags, I think, at least were going into that game, a top-five team in the league.
00:56:55That was a big-time win on the road, and I think it compels them into a...
00:56:59I mean, on the road.
00:57:01Well, London.
00:57:02Not really on the road.
00:57:04London is Jacksonville town.
00:57:05Kind of on the road.
00:57:06T-Bob will be...
00:57:07Jacksonville is Jacksonville town.
00:57:08Nah, Duval County extends overseas.
00:57:11Yeah.
00:57:12T-Bob will be back in this seat after commercial break.
00:57:14Do you buy it?
00:57:15I do buy that.
00:57:16I don't see T-Bob being able to stay away from the spotlight for very long.
00:57:20He's really a diva.
00:57:21He's somebody that is absolutely...
00:57:23It's all about him.
00:57:24And I don't think he'll be able to give up that chair to you for more than a segment.
00:57:28What is the word?
00:57:30Gregorius?
00:57:30Wally Pip.
00:57:31All right.
00:57:31We're heading to commercial break.
00:57:34And look at T-Bob.
00:57:39What's happening, y'all?
00:57:40Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:57:42I guess I'm back in the seat after being emasculated.
00:57:45And when it rains and pours, I just got a text from my guy, Chris Perrette.
00:57:49Your partner, Brandon Walker, has grown on me and is now one of my favorites on radio.
00:57:53Oh.
00:57:54Oh, wow.
00:57:54Yeah, so great.
00:57:56From who?
00:57:56So great.
00:57:57Just somebody.
00:57:58My old friend.
00:57:59Anyway.
00:58:00All right.
00:58:01I'm going to try to get my confidence back with a little confident game.
00:58:05Bingo.
00:58:05What's your confidence level?
00:58:07Normally, we save these ratings for Fashion Report, guys.
00:58:09We're going to do here.
00:58:10We're going to offer up a rating on how much we believe a statement is going to happen.
00:58:15And we'll start with Tommy Carr in Michigan.
00:58:20Boys, what are y'all's confidence levels that Tommy Carr will be the start of Michigan for the rest of
00:58:24his career?
00:58:25He's a true freshman right now.
00:58:27Rest of his career?
00:58:28Rest of his career.
00:58:30One.
00:58:31Yeah, I don't think...
00:58:32Rest of the season, 10.
00:58:33I don't think you can look at any freshman quarterback in college football in the year of our Lord, 2026,
00:58:38and say with 100% confidence they will start the rest of their career.
00:58:41There's too much volatility and transfer portal.
00:58:44What if Michigan hears through the grapevine that the great quarterback's available, they'll go buy him?
00:58:49Jeremy's floundering.
00:58:50He goes, what about 50% confidence?
00:58:51No, look.
00:58:52No, the only reason I'm not going one is being so far on the end of the spectrum.
00:58:56But I'm a two.
00:58:57The reasons y'all named also, guys, he threw seven passes.
00:59:00Yeah.
00:59:00He's like, I've never seen seven passes be so wildly celebrated.
00:59:04I mean, they'll ramp him up.
00:59:05They'll ramp him up and get him to where they want him to be a little bit.
00:59:08I just mean, they score these three second-half touchdowns, and it's like, oh, my God, it's all Tommy Carr.
00:59:14He threw seven passes.
00:59:14Yeah, well, J.J. McCarthy once threw zero passes in a half and then got drafted in the first round.
00:59:18So, what are you going to do?
00:59:19You're really picking up the pitchfork again, aren't you?
00:59:22Well, there's a...
00:59:22You really are pitching.
00:59:24There's the familial aspect there where, you know, he obviously has family ties to Michigan.
00:59:29If he were to play well, I can imagine him wanting to stay at Michigan.
00:59:34But at the same time, yeah, I don't know if that's necessarily...
00:59:37Oh, you have him transferring out.
00:59:39I have it as a four.
00:59:40Yeah, well, I mean, like, at the very least...
00:59:43Talking about it on a show yesterday, everybody wants to talk about Archie Manning's seed.
00:59:47Lloyd Carr, underrated seed.
00:59:49Yeah.
00:59:50So, yeah, if it goes decently well, I could see him staying at Michigan for a long time
00:59:56and being the starter.
00:59:57But I'm also, yeah, not super high on it.
00:59:59That's actually a good point.
01:00:00His son of Keel was the crime stopper in Baltimore.
01:00:02That's also true.
01:00:04Next one.
01:00:05Oh, that's me.
01:00:07I'm really just out of sorts here.
01:00:08The Rams will bounce back.
01:00:10Oh, you broke this, man.
01:00:11The Rams really did.
01:00:12I've never been so emasculated, so planted, dominated on there.
01:00:16The Rams will bounce back and be NFC favorites by December.
01:00:21No.
01:00:21I don't have a zero.
01:00:23They're old.
01:00:24They're old.
01:00:25They're old.
01:00:26Devonta Adams now.
01:00:27Coming into the season, you know, we should have sounded alarm bells more.
01:00:31They were the favorite with a 38-year-old quarterback who all of a sudden looks 38.
01:00:34Devonta Adams is hurt.
01:00:36Miles Garrett is...
01:00:37We don't know when we're going to see him again.
01:00:39Aaron Donald's just kind of there.
01:00:40It's one.
01:00:41No.
01:00:42The Niners exist.
01:00:45I'm going to go three.
01:00:47Not that they would end up, like, as mathematical one seeds or anything, but Miles Garrett gets
01:00:53back, bump.
01:00:55Devonta Adams gets back, maybe a bump.
01:00:58If they can survive...
01:00:59Yeah, six to ten weeks.
01:00:59I know, but if they can survive in the short term, maybe they could be hot going into the
01:01:04playoffs and be like, you don't want to see the Rams first round.
01:01:06They lost to Arizona?
01:01:07I understand.
01:01:08I understand all this.
01:01:09And, no, look, guys, I have it at a three.
01:01:11I'm just acknowledging that I think there are scenarios out there where their record
01:01:16could be nine and eight, and they're like, still, by playoffs, I'm like, eh, I don't
01:01:19know.
01:01:19You don't want to play the Rams right now.
01:01:20I just think they've been overhyped for maybe the past two years.
01:01:24I've been on this train for a while.
01:01:25They find ways to beat themselves.
01:01:27And the special teams is a disaster.
01:01:29Now, the offense isn't looking that great.
01:01:31They only have nine points late in the fourth quarter against Arizona.
01:01:34It's a problem.
01:01:34It's a problem in L.A.
01:01:36Yeah.
01:01:36Should be one and five.
01:01:37And it's not even just about Devonta Adams.
01:01:38They got a lot of injuries starting to pile up.
01:01:41All right.
01:01:42One to ten, confidence level.
01:01:43Eagles are free-falling.
01:01:45They will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
01:01:50I'm going to find my numbers here.
01:01:52There's no way they're going to the playoffs without Jalen Hurts.
01:01:54The only way they go is because the NFC East is so bad.
01:01:57Back-to-back weeks without a single NFC East team picking up a win.
01:02:01Yeah.
01:02:01I think there's a very good chance to make the playoffs.
01:02:04I think there's a very good chance to get, like, back into winning a playoff game.
01:02:08They have one of the five winningest coaches in the history of the NFL, Brandon.
01:02:12A guy that finds ways to win.
01:02:14And if he can find a way to get Tanner McKee and all these pieces in place, he is no
01:02:18doubt slam dunk coach.
01:02:19I felt like you were making a strong—you were making like, yeah, you kind of had me going with you,
01:02:23and then Tanner McKee exited your mouth, and I was like, yeah, okay.
01:02:27It's not happening offensively.
01:02:28We're good.
01:02:29We got the ten—
01:02:30We got Tanner McKee.
01:02:31We're good.
01:02:32I mean, but, like, look at the four games they lost.
01:02:34It was at Bears.
01:02:36Yeah, but with Jalen Hurts.
01:02:38They lost to the Super Bowl—preseason Super Bowl favorites, a team that won 14 games last year.
01:02:42That's the last second.
01:02:42And the best team in the NFC South.
01:02:44I mean, that's a tough stretch of games.
01:02:45You have three straight divisional games coming up.
01:02:48You could be five and four coming out of that in first place.
01:02:52Fair.
01:02:53It's the defense that would get the Eagles to a playoffs.
01:02:55That's fair.
01:02:56It would not be the offense.
01:02:57I can't imagine what that locker room's like.
01:03:00Yeah, right.
01:03:00I mean, like, you're just losing all your leaders.
01:03:03Everybody's gone.
01:03:04It's got to be a complete leadership void in there right now.
01:03:08It's Joe Milton in there.
01:03:10It's Joe Milton signed to the press.
01:03:12What's your confidence level that the Miami Hurricanes are actually the best team in all of college football?
01:03:23Brandon is a man of extremes.
01:03:25He's a man of extremes.
01:03:27One or ten on every answer so far.
01:03:29That's a two.
01:03:31Why so low?
01:03:32Chris was in my ear saying there are numbers between one and ten, but you're asking me questions where the
01:03:36answers are one and ten.
01:03:37I'm sorry.
01:03:38I am fairly certain that the Miami Hurricanes are not the best team in college football.
01:03:42That does not mean they won't win the national title.
01:03:43Well, fairly certain might not be a one, though, dude, to be fair.
01:03:46I am 100% certain they're not the best team in college football, and I know Georgia just lost.
01:03:50Georgia's the best team in college football, and Ohio State could be the best team in college football.
01:03:54I don't think Miami.
01:03:56Miami's not the best team in college football, but we don't play to crown the best team in college football.
01:04:00We play to crown a national champion who survives a playoff, and they're not going to take much damage in
01:04:05the regular season.
01:04:05They're going to go to the playoff very fresh, and they could win the title, but they're not the best
01:04:10team.
01:04:11The reason why I'm at a five is they're injured to all hell right now.
01:04:14Bad, bad, bad.
01:04:15They're finding ways to survive.
01:04:17The health rounds out by the end of the season.
01:04:19Yeah.
01:04:19I mean, they're surviving for one very simple reason.
01:04:23Well, they still have Tony Minton as long as they say how they can work.
01:04:25Well, their schedule's easy.
01:04:27That's why they're surviving.
01:04:28Technically, should have lost or could have lost to Florida State if the Hail Marys work out.
01:04:33They're very good.
01:04:35This Florida State game is tricky because Florida State, I think, is a little undervalued.
01:04:39Yeah, people think they're, like, worse than they are.
01:04:41They still have talent everywhere, and they can find ways to put it together for one game at a time.
01:04:44So that was tricky.
01:04:45Florida State-Miami.
01:04:46They're tough to parse.
01:04:47Yeah, UNC might be a little tricky, dude.
01:04:49UNC is annoyingly competent.
01:04:51Yeah.
01:04:53They're a lot better than you think they are.
01:04:54They'll probably still be, like, two touchdown favorites in that game.
01:04:57But, like, UNC has been tricky.
01:04:59They gave, like, Notre Dame a little bit of a run in the first half.
01:05:02And they've been very competitive defensively in a lot of these games.
01:05:06I think UNC is a very tricky spot.
01:05:08That game's on Halloween now.
01:05:09And it's the week before they play Notre Dame.
01:05:11Look at that spot.
01:05:12That's actually, like, this week 8 through week 11 is basically the rest of the schedule.
01:05:16And they get out of there.
01:05:18Yeah.
01:05:19Smoky season in Chapel Hill?
01:05:20It's tough.
01:05:21I mean, think about it, Connor.
01:05:22There's no better time to be buxom and busty than on Halloween.
01:05:27That's going to be Bill's night.
01:05:28You've got to watch out.
01:05:29Absolutely.
01:05:30Miami could be in trouble there.
01:05:31All right, next up on the list.
01:05:33What's your confidence meter that BYU is a legit national title contender?
01:05:39And not just a Cinderella.
01:05:41Brandon.
01:05:41Brandon cannot wait.
01:05:43He cannot run to the one fast enough.
01:05:47I'm going to go four.
01:05:48Listen, good win the other night.
01:05:50Really good win.
01:05:51The good win, good story.
01:05:54They're not going through a playoff where they have to beat Miami and Georgia and Ohio State
01:06:01back-to-back-to-back.
01:06:01They're just not.
01:06:02I'm sorry.
01:06:03They're not going to be able to play the whole playoff at home.
01:06:06They're not going to be able to play the playoff with a ref that says there's not a second left
01:06:09on the clock.
01:06:10That was a good win.
01:06:11They're a very good team.
01:06:12They will be in the playoff, I believe all that.
01:06:14They're not a national title contender.
01:06:16That's okay.
01:06:17As we established, though, earlier on in the show, who is the leading national championship?
01:06:22Yeah, there's a bit of a power value.
01:06:23I just told you three teams that I think are...
01:06:25It's also where I went five on that Miami question.
01:06:28Yeah, it's like there really isn't that elite cream-of-the-crop team.
01:06:33Let me ask you a question.
01:06:34Could compete.
01:06:36BYU plays Notre Dame in the first round of the playoffs.
01:06:38Who do you think wins that game?
01:06:40Well, I think Notre Dame would be favored on a neutral field, but I would feel confident in BYU making
01:06:46it a very similar game.
01:06:46Yeah, I didn't think that the Notre Dame win was fluky.
01:06:50I mean, they won because they were able to play man.
01:06:52I'm not saying it was fluky.
01:06:54They hung in the trenches.
01:06:55If it was a good win, I think Notre Dame would win the rematch.
01:06:59We had Columbus.
01:06:59But I don't think that doesn't make...
01:07:00He was a great head coach.
01:07:01That doesn't make BYU not a threat to win the national title.
01:07:04Fine, but this question is based on my confidence level.
01:07:07My confidence level is...
01:07:09Yeah, but to be fair, I said four, so I'm not exactly overly confident.
01:07:13Would you have a team over three that you feel confident in?
01:07:17I would put Georgia, Miami, Ohio State still probably above one, yeah.
01:07:23Okay.
01:07:24All right.
01:07:25Maybe even Notre Dame, but we'll talk about them later.
01:07:27What's your confidence level that Drake May is back to being Drake May from last season?
01:07:35I mean, he's back.
01:07:36I hate to admit it, but yeah.
01:07:38He's just very much back.
01:07:40He's doing it without...
01:07:41I mean, again, they've had a lot of injuries.
01:07:44A.J. Brown comes back.
01:07:45A.J. Brown looks terrible.
01:07:46He still plays great, still puts up numbers.
01:07:48You've got to imagine Brown's going to round into form.
01:07:50He's very good.
01:07:51Drake or that could not have aged better for Dave, unfortunately.
01:07:55Yeah.
01:07:55Yeah.
01:07:56I was...
01:07:57Oh, sorry.
01:07:57Go ahead.
01:07:57He could win NFL MVP.
01:07:59Perhaps.
01:07:59It would be tough, but the way he's played...
01:08:01If you throw out the first two games, which you don't, he's played unbelievably.
01:08:05No, I know.
01:08:06However many weeks he was bad for, he was literally statistically the worst in the NFL, and he's
01:08:10literally been the best.
01:08:11I think by the time we get to week 17 and we see the whole body of work, you could
01:08:14probably
01:08:15throw out the first couple of weeks.
01:08:16If the next 15 is as good as it has been, you could.
01:08:18Cody, does that scare you at all?
01:08:21That Drake Mays back, the big bag boogeyman, your arch rival, the Patriots, already having
01:08:26one in Buffalo, how are we feeling?
01:08:28No.
01:08:30Good point, Cody.
01:08:31Does that answer your question?
01:08:32Technically, yes.
01:08:34But it does show...
01:08:35It was an answer.
01:08:37You are scared, though, because you want to expound on it.
01:08:40He's a good player.
01:08:40You have no great argument?
01:08:42I guess we'll find out.
01:08:44AJ Brown is a problem, is a concern at the moment, but we'll see how...
01:08:48You mean not a concern in a...
01:08:50You're saying like a concern that he could ruin the team?
01:08:53Bad drops.
01:08:54Really bad drops.
01:08:55Really bad drops.
01:08:55So it would hurt the numbers of Drake Mays.
01:08:57We'll see.
01:08:58How confident are you 1-10 that at least one team outside the top 12 currently will make
01:09:05the college football playoff?
01:09:08Gotta be.
01:09:09Just as a function of the schedule and everybody having to play one another down the stretch
01:09:14here, people are going to fall and rise.
01:09:18Iowa's making the playoff.
01:09:20I've been hammering Iowa to the playoff all season long.
01:09:25We'll see if they finish the fight out.
01:09:27Also, by the way, you're just guaranteed a team outside the top 12 to make the playoff.
01:09:31Who's falling out?
01:09:32The G6 spot.
01:09:35Oh, yeah, true.
01:09:36Well, let's remove that from the equipment.
01:09:39I think Iowa's making the playoff.
01:09:40I think SMU's got a pretty decent little chance at the playoff.
01:09:44I think one of the two lost SEC teams I think will make it out of Alabama, LSU, Texas.
01:09:49LSU would be...
01:09:50I did this on the show the other night.
01:09:51I believe LSU, Bama, Texas.
01:09:53I would favor LSU.
01:09:54I think they have the inside track.
01:09:55They host both Texas and Alabama.
01:09:57Yeah, yeah.
01:09:59I genuinely think every 14 through 17 could all...
01:10:03There's a scenario where all four of those teams make the playoff.
01:10:06I'm sorry.
01:10:06Where 14 through 17 all make the playoff.
01:10:08Can I throw one out?
01:10:09Mm-hmm.
01:10:10I see one that's not in the top 25 in a major conference that is not dead.
01:10:15Ooh.
01:10:16Let me think.
01:10:17Uh-oh.
01:10:17I mean, technically you could say Michigan, but I don't think it's Michigan.
01:10:21JMU?
01:10:22Nope.
01:10:23What are you doing?
01:10:23Oregon?
01:10:24Oregon.
01:10:25They're getting injured Ohio State in a couple of weeks.
01:10:28Yeah.
01:10:29Assuming Dante Moore is back.
01:10:30Yeah.
01:10:30If Dante Moore comes back, they're not dead.
01:10:33That's all.
01:10:34Just, just, just, just...
01:10:35I can't.
01:10:35It's true.
01:10:36It's hard to imagine, but they're not dead.
01:10:38I don't know what they...
01:10:39I don't know if you guys stayed up to watch that Nebraska-Oregon game.
01:10:42I actually didn't.
01:10:43I was so exhausted after the day I forgot about it.
01:10:46The fact they did not play Rayola the whole game is so embarrassing.
01:10:50Like, he was so far ahead of the other guy.
01:10:54Okay, but time out.
01:10:55The, the, the previous week, Rayola had the worst game I've ever seen in my life.
01:10:58He had one body, he had one bad body of work, but I think the body of work of his
01:11:01entire
01:11:02career is at least worth taking a shot.
01:11:03I, I guess I'm just saying that, well, I don't know if it is one bad body of work.
01:11:07He's had one good body of work.
01:11:09Sure.
01:11:09Which is at odds with the rest of his career.
01:11:11But beyond that, if Lanny was making that choice, they're seeing some of that practice
01:11:15where Rayola's not like ripping this job off.
01:11:16I'm not the ultimate Rayola guy.
01:11:18I think he's been overrated for a good portion of his career, but I still think if you saw
01:11:22it, I don't know what that other guy could have shown you in practice to be like, he's
01:11:25worth starting in the Big Ten because he did not have it.
01:11:27I mean, why is Nebraska so cursed, though?
01:11:30It's, it really is.
01:11:31They're not cursed.
01:11:32They're just not a good program anymore.
01:11:33They're not cursed.
01:11:34They're just...
01:11:35No, no, no.
01:11:35Brandon, no.
01:11:35Whatever Osborne had.
01:11:36But it goes beyond that because I'm not saying they're not, of course they're not Nebraska
01:11:39of old.
01:11:40You have to mathematically trip and stumble into winning one of these moments at a certain
01:11:46point.
01:11:46You have to.
01:11:47Sometimes you are who you are.
01:11:49Speaking of, confidence level that Mississippi State will win more than two games for the
01:11:53rest of the season.
01:11:57What kind of question is that?
01:11:59Before I answer this...
01:12:00Shut up!
01:12:01Once, once Kamario gets healthy, that game against LSU doesn't count.
01:12:05If Kamario's healthy, we're beating Oklahoma this week.
01:12:07If not, we won't.
01:12:08Fine.
01:12:08Um, Texas, okay, but we're beating Vanderbilt, we're beating Auburn, we're beating Tennessee
01:12:12Tech, no problem.
01:12:13What are we even talking about?
01:12:15We said more than two games, so Vandy and Tennessee Tech, you gotta get one.
01:12:18At Auburn!
01:12:18Yeah, yeah, maybe.
01:12:19At home?
01:12:20Are you kidding me?
01:12:21No crabs.
01:12:22When is Kamario getting back?
01:12:24It's turf tone.
01:12:25Never quite goes away.
01:12:25I believe he could play this week.
01:12:28I would put my confidence at 51% he plays this week.
01:12:31Alright, my confidence at 51% that Mississippi State will win more than two games.
01:12:35What's the line on Oklahoma this week?
01:12:38For sure he will be, let's say it's turf, for sure he'll be back by Vanderbilt, Auburn,
01:12:42and Tennessee Tech.
01:12:42If Kamario Taylor and Fluff Bothwell play, we're winning those three, no problem.
01:12:46I'm giving you Vandy and Tennessee Tech for sure, and I think you probably win Auburn,
01:12:49that's why I'm at a five.
01:12:50Okay, so it's Oklahoma by three.
01:12:52Three and a half.
01:12:53Pick them.
01:12:54What kind of question is this?
01:12:55Okay, that's .5 wins, .5 wins.
01:12:57It was a personal attack question.
01:12:58You're all stupid.
01:12:59They're going after.
01:13:00I'm cussing.
01:13:01I'm cussing next segment.
01:13:02Guys, now you're going to make them curse producers.
01:13:04Yeah, that's an average of three wins.
01:13:09Your expected value is three wins.
01:13:10How long is this segment, by the way?
01:13:12I've been having to pee for a while.
01:13:14Well, guess what?
01:13:15Go hit the John.
01:13:16Don't touch it.
01:13:17Because coming up next, it's time to hit the ball.
01:13:19With a little World Series preview, Ebo's going to tell you who has the edge
01:13:23and the most important facets of the game.
01:13:25Coming up next, we're live from Chicago.
01:13:27This is Whoop.
01:13:33It's time to play ball with Ebo's baseball bonanza.
01:13:39This camera is so tight on my face.
01:13:40It makes me feel like I have a Facebook video, which I probably do.
01:13:42This is real TV, Ebo.
01:13:43I know.
01:13:44It's really intimidating.
01:13:46The producers asked me this morning to kind of sort out who has an edge
01:13:50somewhere in the series.
01:13:52And it was very difficult.
01:13:53I would say these two teams are the same, two different sides of the same coin.
01:13:58They are very similar how they are constructed.
01:14:02And if you were to rank them based off all of these things,
01:14:04I think it's very tight.
01:14:05So if you disagree with me, that's fine.
01:14:08Go ahead.
01:14:08Ebo, we were texting about this.
01:14:10These are two teams that are very analytically driven, obviously,
01:14:13and probably at the forefront.
01:14:15But they're also the most complete teams in how they play, right?
01:14:21They're not all about the absolute outcomes.
01:14:24They're willing to engage in the various forms that make baseball wonderful.
01:14:29Yeah, and that comes to fruition.
01:14:31You see that in the data when you look at ISO slugging.
01:14:33ISO slugging is basically your slugging percentage minus your average.
01:14:36So basically, what are your bases worth, you know?
01:14:38What are we talking about?
01:14:39And they're about 26, 27.
01:14:40It's basically how much are you boom or bust.
01:14:42They're 26, 27.
01:14:44The only one I can look at and say I definitely know which one is going to lean
01:14:48is power, right?
01:14:49Like power is the only one.
01:14:50The Rays definitely have more power.
01:14:52I'm going to give the edge and starting pitcher to the Brewers.
01:14:54Okay.
01:14:54This is simply a Mizorowski thing where I think if you have the number one guy
01:14:58at such an elite level going into a series like this,
01:15:01you have the advantage.
01:15:02I think, obviously, you think of Yamamoto last year in the World Series.
01:15:06Madison Bumgarner obviously had the run he had in the World Series.
01:15:09But this is still very close.
01:15:10I was going to say, is Peralta, is he maybe a revenge game type thing?
01:15:15Yeah.
01:15:16So it's Rasmussen is obviously very good.
01:15:18So I don't think that Brewers buy a hair here.
01:15:22Okay.
01:15:22Brewers buy a hair here.
01:15:23I'm also going to give it a bullpen to the Brewers.
01:15:26They've been so good in this postseason.
01:15:28What was it?
01:15:29Six perfect innings or was it five perfect innings in that game?
01:15:33MLB postseason history.
01:15:34Ashby throws bowling balls deal.
01:15:36Hall throws gas out of the pen.
01:15:38Uribe is a monster.
01:15:39McGill is a monster.
01:15:40So you have depth in the bullpen, too.
01:15:42The Rays obviously have a ton of guys that can get you out as well.
01:15:46I just think that the way the Brewers have been pitching,
01:15:48I would give the edge here, slight nod to the Brewers.
01:15:51All right.
01:15:51Any disagreement?
01:15:52Any issue?
01:15:53No.
01:15:54I'm with you.
01:15:54No, but again, we have to be clear because it's going to look.
01:15:57It's going to look like I'm going to look lopsided.
01:15:59It's going to look like zero-sum, but yes, these are very close.
01:16:02If I had a scale here, I would put it like here and here.
01:16:07Yeah.
01:16:07It'd be 51-49.
01:16:09Yeah.
01:16:09Yeah.
01:16:09How about that?
01:16:11Power.
01:16:12So this is purely a junior coming RO category.
01:16:18I don't think either of these teams is very power-driven.
01:16:20They don't rely on the home run a ton.
01:16:23He's still rounding the bases.
01:16:24But if you're thinking of, like, who's got the puncher,
01:16:26who's got the knockout punch guy in this series,
01:16:29I think it's the Rays, even though Contreras has been good,
01:16:32Terang is good.
01:16:33You've got guys that can – Jake Bowers, obviously, in the NLCS
01:16:36was thinking for a lot of power.
01:16:37Garrett Mitchell swings the bat hard.
01:16:39Like, this is just a junior coming RO stat, essentially,
01:16:43or category here for me.
01:16:45Literal fastest bat in the majors, right?
01:16:47I just noticed because all the focus is on this home run trot.
01:16:52It's absurd he hit that ball out of the park.
01:16:54Yes.
01:16:54Did you see where that pitch was?
01:16:56Super inside.
01:16:58Also, I know we can't play with audio,
01:17:01but their schmack on the foul pole is pretty sweet.
01:17:05Very reminiscent of the Judge Homer, if you remember,
01:17:07from last year.
01:17:10So, defense, this is, again, one where it depends on how you want to look at it.
01:17:15If you want to go by baseball savant, outs above average,
01:17:18you'd probably give it to the Brewers.
01:17:19They had a better outs above average this year than the Rays did.
01:17:23They have very good defenders all over the field.
01:17:24Every outfielder in this series is a 90th percentile baseball savant defender.
01:17:28But you need to give it to the Rays for the traffic.
01:17:29So, why are we giving it to the Rays?
01:17:32But, if you go by defensive runs saved, Tampa Bay Rays blow them out of the water.
01:17:36It's really, I think with defensive metrics, it's kind of whatever you want to taste.
01:17:40You know, like some people like steak, some people like chicken.
01:17:42Okay.
01:17:42But these teams are the Spider-Man meme, right?
01:17:44Yeah, it's like two sides, yeah, like I said, two sides of the same coin.
01:17:47They're very similar teams.
01:17:49Again, this is a very thin margin to the Rays in terms of defense,
01:17:52just based off, you know, they make the plays.
01:17:55And I will say, it's been the hardest outfield to get a base hit against
01:17:59in the entire major leagues.
01:18:00They cover so much ground.
01:18:01Zaluca, Simpson, and Victor Mace has been a speed demon.
01:18:03I think this is also very tight, but I will give it to the Rays.
01:18:07I was going to say, was there any consideration to having a speed category?
01:18:12Because I think I...
01:18:13Great question.
01:18:13I feel like watching Chandler Simpson this postseason has been
01:18:15one of the most delightful aspects of it.
01:18:18Our graphics makers only do it in fives.
01:18:20Oh, yeah, that makes sense.
01:18:22Last one, manager.
01:18:25I'm of the belief that manager is not really that impactful in Major League Baseball.
01:18:29I think it's a network, it's a chain of command of multiple decision makers
01:18:33who help put a manager in a good spot.
01:18:35And I'm not sure how much the manager actually impacted the game.
01:18:38But Pat Murphy did have the moment after they've sweeped the Dodgers
01:18:42where he talked about how he set up David Hamilton.
01:18:44Yeah.
01:18:44And I think that's...
01:18:45Yeah, that was pretty cool.
01:18:45That's very intriguing.
01:18:46And I think that sort of, you know, chess play a little bit could come into their favor.
01:18:51And I think Kevin Cash is a little more robotic, I think people would say.
01:18:54You look back at the other World Series where he took Blake Snell out of the game
01:18:57because that was the philosophy of the Rays.
01:18:59I think if you're looking for an edge here, it might be in the gamesmanship
01:19:02and a guy like Pat Murphy.
01:19:03So, the Murphy story that you are alluded to, if people don't know it,
01:19:09he basically, like, accepted a bunt out to create better pitches for him in the future.
01:19:15How'd it work?
01:19:16Yes.
01:19:16He said he basically took him to bat, said go bunt it.
01:19:19They won't treat you with respect if they think you're going up there
01:19:22not to be competitive in at-bats.
01:19:23And then the rest of the game hits the big home run.
01:19:26Yeah.
01:19:26But yeah, I think, like, the little minute things like that,
01:19:30he does have the college baseball fingerprints all over this team at times.
01:19:34Benching guys, not hustling out doubles.
01:19:36So, we'll see how it comes to fruition in this series.
01:19:39But yeah, I would give a slight edge.
01:19:41And again, this looks like it's close.
01:19:45I didn't do it just for the graphic to make it close.
01:19:48But it is close.
01:19:48Like, I think you could literally flip a coin in any of these categories
01:19:51and give it to either team based off how you view the game.
01:19:55Evo, World Series X factor.
01:19:58What is it?
01:20:01Put the X's up, boys.
01:20:02It's got to be Kevin Kelly, the raised set-up guy who I play Little League Baseball with.
01:20:07Former Burke Bulldog.
01:20:08First JMU Major League Baseball player to ever reach a World Series.
01:20:12Kevin Kelly is my X factor.
01:20:13Okay.
01:20:14What about the home fields?
01:20:17It is a little wonky, huh?
01:20:19Yeah, like, the Brewers is going to be absolutely crazy.
01:20:24They haven't seen a World Series in 44 years.
01:20:26It's going to be, you know, is that something that could throw the Rays off?
01:20:29I'm not saying, maybe.
01:20:31I mean, they're both, I mean, we don't know.
01:20:33No idea.
01:20:34The Trouf was finally rocking the other night.
01:20:36The Trouf was rocking the other night.
01:20:37This does kind of remind me of a college football game from, like, 2011, I want to say, where
01:20:44two teams that had unbelievable skill met in the game of the century, and it was 6-3.
01:20:49Because they were so evenly matched.
01:20:519-6.
01:20:51But I like that you chose that one, not the National Championship match.
01:20:54No, but it reminds me of that.
01:20:55I thought you were doing bits here.
01:20:57It felt like two teams that were so evenly matched, what they did, that they couldn't get anything going.
01:21:00I feel like that could be what we see in this.
01:21:02I love this because I don't think I've ever seen such a disparity between, like, these
01:21:07are not big brands.
01:21:08The MLB doesn't want this, but these are objectively the two best teams in baseball all year long.
01:21:13Yeah, by record and by, yeah.
01:21:15Yeah, there's nobody.
01:21:15Nobody got hot.
01:21:16It's not a Cinderella run.
01:21:18These are two big dogs going at it.
01:21:20And so let's get to some picks.
01:21:21Chody, who wins the World Series?
01:21:23Did you call him Chody?
01:21:25No, I said Cody.
01:21:27Ebo, you go first.
01:21:28I think I'll go Brewers here.
01:21:29I think they get their first World Series.
01:21:32Yeah, I, my problem with my perception of the Rays, and this is only unique to me,
01:21:38is that whenever the Orioles play the Rays, and obviously I'm biased, we win.
01:21:43Like, we have a winning record against the Rays for the last three years.
01:21:45So, like, to me, like, the Rays are beatable, but then you see they go out.
01:21:48They win close to 100 games this year.
01:21:50They kind of roll through the playoffs soon, except.
01:21:53So, but I think the Brewers are so complete.
01:21:56They do everything right, top to bottom.
01:21:58There's not really a hole anywhere, so I think I'll be Brewers.
01:22:00Connor Griffin.
01:22:01David, I'm rolling with the Brew Crew as well.
01:22:03I love beer, cheese.
01:22:05I love cheese curds.
01:22:06I love beer just in general.
01:22:08I like beer and cheese, essentially, is my best thing.
01:22:09Yeah, okay.
01:22:10I'm rolling with the Brew Crew.
01:22:11I hope they win.
01:22:12I like beer and cheese, too.
01:22:13And I don't know what to think.
01:22:14Brandon, what do you got?
01:22:15Come on.
01:22:15You already know.
01:22:16Come on.
01:22:17Braves.
01:22:19I'm a Braves fan.
01:22:19Don't do it.
01:22:20They have zero ties to Milwaukee.
01:22:22I got the Brewers.
01:22:23Because I don't know Ebo, I'm, like, freed from actual analysis.
01:22:28And like I said, Chandler Simpson's so fast.
01:22:30I'm going Rays.
01:22:32I mean, let's go.
01:22:33Video for everyone to go watch at home.
01:22:35Go look up Chandler Simpson scoring from second on a sack fly.
01:22:38Speed kills.
01:22:39Oh, I got to see that right now.
01:22:40I'm going to love that.
01:22:41Chody, what do you got?
01:22:42When it comes to giving the beer makers more money, that's Brewers Rays, I'm going Tampa Bay.
01:22:50What did I miss?
01:22:51Tampa Bay's the pick.
01:22:53Giving the Brewers a raise.
01:22:54Oh, my God.
01:22:55Okay.
