Jumbo Crowds Watch Elephant Soccer in Nepal

They're not as quick as Ronaldo or as skilful as David Beckham, but they certainly know how to tackle.

But then these young elephant calves have been practicing their soccer skills for many months.

With the help of their mahouts, they've been learning how to dribble, pass and of course score just like human soccer players.

The soccer match was one of the events at the annual Chitwan Elephant Festival in Nepal.

It attracts thousands of locals and tourists from around the world.

"It was good to watch, it was definitely a good small goalkeeper, it did a good job."

There are numerous other sporting challenges for elephants during the three-day event.

But the soccer match is the highlight.

The goals may be a little bigger but the rules are strictly enforced.

And the referee has no problems with wild goal celebrations or handball.
