Up 10-0 at halftime, and then total silence. The Ravens offense managed a measly 62 yards in the second half while a late Derrick Henry fumble and a missed FG sealed a 13-10 loss to the Browns. Who gets the blame, the offense, defense, or play-calling?

00:00A game in which the Ravens led by 10 points, up 10-zip at halftime.
00:05Since 2018, this is their 17th 10-point lead blown.
00:13They've had three of them this year, even though they came back to win the Dallas game.
00:18They blew a 10-point lead in that game.
00:20Dallas took the lead, and the Ravens came back to win it.
00:23We know about the New Orleans debacle in the home opener, and then again yesterday.
00:29So Kyle Hamilton, who hasn't been here since 2018, he hasn't had to live through all of that pain,
00:37but he's pained and frustrated by the results of it.
00:42Also heard Derek Henry, or Tyler Huntley, rather, talking about the offense bogging down
00:49after the first two drives of the game.
00:51And we were talking, it's Vinny Haney, Nolan McGraw, it's Vinny Haney here on this lovely Monday.
00:56It's not a victory Monday, unfortunately, but it is what it is.
01:00You know, you just have to improvise and adapt, overcome.
01:03Clint Eastwood said in Heartbreak Ridge, Bob Haney, B. Serato, and Quickdraw over there.
01:09I thought after the first two drives, which were a touchdown where they converted on fourth and one,
01:14and they kicked a field goal on the second one.
01:19smooth, Huntley looked confident, in control.
01:23Henry was running the ball, getting big chunk plays.
01:27Jacoby Lane was part of the equation.
01:29Yep.
01:30I was like, we're going to put 30 on these guys.
01:33That's exactly what I thought, Bob.
01:34And that was all she wrote.
01:37They want, what, pretty much 40 minutes without scoring.
01:42Looper missed another field goal.
01:44We'll get into that.
01:45There's so many things to address.
01:48And then the Derek Henry fumble, which put Cleveland in a position to tie the game.
01:55But let's start with Kyle Hamilton's comments, where he doesn't really have an answer for what's going on here.
02:03The faces have changed.
02:06The coaches have changed.
02:08But the results remain the same.
02:12Jerry Judy, how in the hell does he get that wide open?
02:15That I was hawking.
02:16On third down.
02:18So we're seeing yet again, Vinny, a defense that played great for the most part.
02:25I mean, they dominated the game until a couple of series there late.
02:30But how does it continually become an issue when you have a defensive-oriented head coach, Jesse Minter,
02:38who's calling the plays, and Anthony Weaver, who has been a play caller,
02:44and is familiar with a lot of the personnel,
02:46and it's not exactly the most explosive offense in the National Football League.
02:53How does it happen?
02:54And so do we blame the defense first, then we'll get to the other stuff second?
02:59I was going to blame the offense first.
03:03Yeah, but we just heard Kyle Hamilton going,
03:05I don't know why we can't finish these things off.
03:08So we'll start with that.
03:09The biggest thing, when I look at the defense, Bob, is, all right, in the second half,
03:17well, in the first half, Cleveland had the ball 11 minutes, first half, 11 minutes.
03:23Second half, Bob, they had it for 20 minutes.
03:26That is an issue there is, like that first drive was seven minutes and some seconds in the third quarter.
03:35And they were, well, the biggest difference was first down.
03:41They were second and two, second and three, which the first half, they were third and long, a bunch,
03:50and they were just teeing off.
03:52I felt bad for Watson.
03:53I mean, he was.
03:54I did not.
03:55Yeah, he was getting pummeled.
03:57I mean, Bob, in the first half, let me get that, because in the first half, what, like,
04:05they were embarrassing offensively, 46 yards.
04:09They had 46 total yards, and Watson was three and nine for 24 yards, Bob, with three sacks
04:17and a quarterback rating of 42.
04:19And Huntley's 14 to 21 for 107, sacked twice, all right?
04:25And the Ravens had 163 yards.
04:29Second half, Bob, Watson's 13 of 17 for 140.
04:35Snoop's five of 10 for 58 yards.
04:38They had a total of six.
04:40The Ravens had a total of 62 yards the second half, 62.
04:45So I thought defensively, I thought the Brown, I thought Todd, he came out, you know,
04:52they started running Watson on that boot, but when they ran the boot in the first half,
04:59he was holding it, holding it, holding it, and guys would be covered.
05:04What he did in the second half was, as soon as he booted out, boom, dumped it to the tight
05:10end,
05:10and he had room to run.
05:11I thought that was one of the differences.
05:13And then they were making some yards in the run game on first down.
05:18They weren't getting off of blocks as much.
05:20Did they crease him at all?
05:22No, but it was seven, eight yards, which made it a lot easier for Watson after that.
05:28Because, I mean, all of a sudden, you know, Watson's 13 of 17 for 140,
05:32got 101 quarterback rating compared to 42.
05:35Come on.
05:36Come on.
05:37And then the Henry fumble.
05:39That was the killer.
05:40The Looper missed field goal, 49 yards.
05:43That was to put you up two scores.
05:44You know, I mean, that was, Bob, when he missed it, I'm saying, uh-oh.
05:50You know, you just kind of feel like something bad's happening.
05:54And then, you know, with Henry, Schlesinger, whoever pulled it, they made a hell of a play
06:00because he had it.
06:01Yeah, it was him.
06:01He had it high and tight.
06:02Who was questionable to even play in the game.
06:05Yeah.
06:06With an angle.
06:07Modern medicine.
06:08Well, he's a good dude, too.
06:09Good player.
06:10Made his presence felt for sure.
06:1213 tackles he had.
06:13Yeah, he was amazing.
06:15But there's a lot of blame to go around, Bob, but I blame more on the offense than I do
06:23the defense.
06:23Because how do you go from two great drives, and then you can't do anything, nothing after that?
06:36I mean, it was hard to watch after that.
06:39I'm going, and one of the biggest reasons was I thought they had eight in a box most of the
06:48time,
06:49and they're playing man coverage.
06:51And theirs is a penetrating defense.
06:54And what does that mean?
06:55That means that they're going up the field all the time.
06:59On the snap, bam, they're trying to get up the field.
07:03And they were getting there, and what is that?
07:06Like, Derrick Henry, when they lined up under center, I mean, there was somebody in the backfield before he even
07:12got going.
07:13Yep.
07:14And the tight ends, you know, I mean, on the one, Bob, on the one, and they even talked about
07:20it on TV.
07:21They didn't motion Vanette across on the one.
07:24They run a boot right into the guy.
07:25And, you know, I didn't think, you know, like last week I thought Declan was awesome calling plays.
07:32This week after the second drive, I was kind of extremely disappointed in the play call.
07:38And the receivers couldn't get open.
07:39And we said that's one of my keys is receivers got to get open and man-to-man coverage.
07:44Who did we see, you know, running a route that had total, every time we saw Jacoby Lane, it was
07:53making, it was an awesome catch because there was somebody right on him.
07:57And even the only one was Zay was when it was a scramble play is that one.
08:04But he wasn't that open either.
08:06I thought their secondary did a phenomenal job because everybody said, oh, Huntley's holding the ball, holding the ball.
08:11Well, hell, he's holding the ball because there's nobody open.
08:16And on the one, Bob, the one that he completed, the Jacoby Lane, when they were backed up, oh, man,
08:21I thought that was pick six.
08:22Oh, yeah.
08:23Oh, my God.
08:24Oh, no doubt.
08:25It was Manos DiPietro by the DB.
08:28But, yeah, the offense, you scored 10 points in the first quarter and then donut the rest of the way.
08:33Yeah.
08:33And then Looper misses the field goal.
08:36The defense, you gave up your 13th point on literally the last play.
08:41Of the game.
08:42But the narrative is, and I don't think it's unfair, you're up 10 again.
08:46Yeah.
08:47But you only scored 10.
08:49The offense didn't really give them much assistance at all.
08:53So, Lamar Jackson did not play.
08:56So, they showed him after the final field goal, he just kind of head to the tunnel.
09:00That's Cincinnati coming up, then Buffalo and Jacksonville.
09:03I mean, the Browns were in first place, which is kind of an insane thing to get into.
09:08But if you want to vent, we're here for you.
