Lightning - Lost Studio Album 1969 US Heavy Psych Rock

If you are a fan of rock rarities, this is a very interesting We are talking about Lightning, a band that emerged in 1968 when guitarist Tom “Zippy” Caplan left The Litter and joined bassist Woody Woodrich to form the power trio White Lightning!! Inspired by the groundbreaking sound of Cream, they soon brought in Mickey Stanhope on drums and vocals, completing the original lineup!!

The band’s story is fascinating!! After a few lineup changes and the release of a locally successful single, they changed their name to Lightning and continued to impress with their energy and talent!! Their heavy and engaging sound, blending heavy psych, hard rock and psychedelia, with progressive passages, quickly won them a place on stages across the American Midwest, including memorable appearances in Chicago and Minneapolis!! In 1970, they released an album on PIP Records, but the recordings made before that release remained unreleased until 1996, when they were finally pressed on vinyl!!

This pressing is a true rarity, featuring previously unreleased recordings made before the band’s 1970 debut album!! If you enjoy raw, authentic sounds and want to explore more of the musical path that followed The Litter, this is a great opportunity to dive into the history of a band that left its mark on the underground rock scene!!

1969 is the year these recordings were made, while the LP The Lost Studio Album was only released in 1996.
