00:00Michael Venom Page, who we actually had a video of the week, I think it was last week or a
00:05couple of weeks ago.
00:06It might have been last week of Venom Page beating somebody up with his shoe outside of a bar.
00:12Some dude got in Mike's face and Michael Venom Page didn't want to really mess him up and get arrested
00:20or anything like that and do something crazy.
00:22So he basically like took the guy's shoe and started like smashing him with his shoe, which was super funny.
00:29And we kidded at the time that it was more entertaining than his UFC fights were.
00:33So Michael Venom Page went five and one in the UFC, which is super impressive.
00:38He went five and one. I mean, what do you want?
00:41Well, they don't really care whether you win or lose. That's the thing.
00:44They just want you to be entertaining. Right.
00:46It used to, you know, used to in the old days, if you won, they didn't really have a choice.
00:50You climbed the ladder and it is what it is. Now they have a choice and they don't care.
00:53Like the UFC might as well be the WWE. Right.
00:56They're going to put who they want in in matches and kind of justifiably so as they know what people
01:04want to watch.
01:05Say what you will about them, but they do do a lot of, you know, behind the scenes market research.
01:09They know what people want. And hell, I like Michael Venom Page.
01:14We used to be a regular on the show in the old days when he was in Bellator.
01:18I like him. I think he's a badass fighter, but you can't deny that his fights basically sucked in the
01:26UFC for whatever reason.
01:29Like he didn't unleash it. I mean, he threw like six punches in the last fight.
01:32He didn't unleash it. And he's his whole thing with him is he's super entertaining.
01:38And he fights like a video game character that like doesn't really, you know, that is so, you know, over
01:45the top that it just like freaks the opponent out.
01:48Because you're like, dude, this guy's like a video game.
01:50Like it's not like a real fight, except he could get taken down easily.
01:55So when he got to the UFC, he was worried about getting taken down and he kept his distance, but
02:00he ended up going five and one anyway.
02:02So he won his fights. We talked about it a couple of weeks ago.
02:05He won his fight and they let him go immediately after his contract was over.
02:09They didn't care. They're like, bye bye. See you later.
02:12And it didn't take him long to sign a new deal.
02:16Now, he signed a deal with Misfits Boxing.
02:20Now, at first I thought, oh, really? Like, all right.
02:23I mean, OK, yes. Kind of strange.
02:27But if you want to box, you want to box. It is what it is.
02:29But the thing is, OK, so Misfits Boxing, you know, Tony Ferguson is one of their champions.
02:37And the thing is with Misfits, it's a British company.
02:41All right. So Michael Vettepage obviously is a British dude, so he knows the people there.
02:46There was a relationship already.
02:50But this is, and many will say, oh, what, you know, Michael Vettepage, oh, whatever.
02:54He's in Misfits now.
02:56Well, yeah, he might be in Misfits now, but Michael Vettepage is getting paid more
03:04for three fights in Misfits than he got in six fights in the UFC.
03:12He's reportedly getting over a million dollars a fight in Misfits.
03:17So it's it's funny how the UFC wanted to punish him and sort of kicked him to the curb.
03:23And he turns around and he ends up making way more money.
03:27Now, he is very fortunate that he is that he is British, number one, because like I said,
03:33Misfits are British. They like the British names and stuff like that.
03:36They love the fight game. And evidently, Misfits does have money.
03:41So what's interesting about this, though, is Misfits boxing is going to have MMA events now as well.
03:48They're getting into MMA and Michael Vettepage will be one of the faces of it.
03:54And he's already calling people out.
03:56So they're already sort of setting up the the big name, the big name fights of sort of older dudes
04:03like like Vettepage called out Nate Diaz.
04:08Like, basically, they asked him, so who are you going to fight?
04:10And he went through the list. He goes, well, you know, I could fight Tony Ferguson for the Misfits boxing
04:16championship.
04:16But, you know, they want to start MMA, Misfits MMA as well.
04:21So he called out Darren Till. He called out Nate Diaz.
04:28He's basically just calling out a bunch of fighters and hoping that something is something is going to stick and
04:34they can get like, you know, they get a little buzz going.
04:37But not a lot of people like Francis DeGan, who was able to get out of the UFC and really
04:44cash in after the fact.
04:46And it's funny because Sean Strickland right now is complaining about the UFC and Strickland.
04:54And, you know, it's not true. Whatever.
04:56All these fighters do that all the time.
04:58They get drunk. They go online.
05:00They go on Twitter.
05:02They post how the UFC sucks and they don't even like it.
05:04And they get ripped off and the UFC are greedy and they're not going to do this anymore.
05:09And then they always grovel after.
05:12Right. Oh, well, you know, no, it's OK.
05:14I got taken care of.
05:16And like, so whatever, you got to take it with a whole.
05:19A whole, you know, I mean, you just got to sort of whatever when when they talk.
05:24But Sean Strickland is basically like, you know, I want to get out of here and do what everyone else
05:28does and just make real money in boxing to get out of the to get out of the UFC.
05:34The thing is, not everybody has that avenue.
05:37Michael Venn and Page's popularity in England.
05:40Like basically cashed in this deal.
05:43The thing with Misfits is, though, and good for them.
05:46Listen, I think the UFC underpay some fighters, but they overpay others.
05:50Like it's not as black and white and as simple as people think with the UFC pay structure.
05:56But at the same point in time, this is why these other companies don't last ever.
