Sal Capaccio shared some insight on what we could see James Cook do differently this week to prevent his fumbling problem.
Transcript
00:00This James Cook fumbling story is by far, to me, the narrative of this week in sort of Bill's land.
00:07And I'm very curious how Brady approaches that, considering the opponent, because of what you just laid out there,
00:14they are really, really, really struggling against the run.
00:17And I wonder if Brady might think, well, hey, this is an opportunity for me to give James Cook the
00:22ball 25 times
00:23and let him just run wild, disprove this sort of narrative that's built up over the last few weeks
00:30and just break that off, make himself look good because he's talked about not, you know,
00:36I'm not going to take carries away from Cook, blah, like that sort of story has been a thing this
00:41week.
00:41And I wonder how you think Brady might handle that going into Sunday.
00:46Well, it's really interesting how it's kind of ebbed and flowed this week, guys,
00:49because Brady said on the Zoom call on Tuesday, there's got to be, you know,
00:53consequences, you know, and our two best players turned the ball over,
00:56and that's, you know, obviously James has had this issue,
00:58and at some point there's got to be consequences, but he's great, and we love giving him the ball,
01:01but, you know, something's got to change.
01:03You know, whatever, paraphrasing the way he said that.
01:05Sure.
01:05Then you get to his media availability with us on Wednesday,
01:10and he basically said, I don't want you guys to think that it means,
01:12I'm saying I'm benching James Cook.
01:14He was kind of, he was very quick to kind of protect him and walk it back a little bit
01:18to make sure he's saying, like, no, no, I'm not, he's still great.
01:21We trust him.
01:22We're going to give him the ball.
01:23I don't want you to think that, but obviously it's been addressed.
01:27Now, I said to James Cook when we met with them, the players on Wednesday after practice,
01:32I said, James, since you're a little kid running the football, you are taught you got to hold on to
01:38the ball.
01:39You can't fumble.
01:39We are, we're all taught that.
01:40That's just the number one thing.
01:42You have everything, the whole game is in your hands right there.
01:45It's not like you don't do drills.
01:46Guys, I'm at practice every day for years and years.
01:49They do ball security drills.
01:50Every single day they do ball security drills.
01:52It's not like they're not doing it.
01:53It's not like they're not taught it.
01:55They're always working on technique.
01:56They're always preaching it.
01:57They do the gauntlet, everything, but it's still happening.
01:59So I said, James, we all know that.
02:01So how do you fix it?
02:02Do you change a technique on how you carry the ball?
02:06And he got quiet and he looked at me and he said, you'll see on Sunday.
02:10So I wonder if he's going to have some new way that he's carrying the ball.
02:16I'm not really sure, honestly, what that means.
02:18A little Tiki Barber action?
02:19Is that what we're talking about here?
02:19Yeah, I don't know, right?
02:20You remember Tiki changed his routine and how he carried the ball?
02:24Like, it could have been nothing.
02:25It could have just been he didn't want to continue talking about it.
02:27So he said that to me.
02:28I don't know.
02:29You know, but I just wonder, guys, if that's the case.
