00:00We've been really clear, the Prime Minister has been very clear that there will not be a referendum.
00:04It was very clearly in our manifesto in the 2024 general election that there wouldn't be another referendum on Scottish
00:10independence.
00:12And people in Scotland voted resoundingly for the Labour government.
00:15So that's really clear. There is no question about that.
00:18I know that the SNP, partly because it's their conference and John Swinney has to manage his own party, obviously
00:24is talking about this.
00:25In fact, the SNP tends to talk of nothing other than independence most of the time.
00:30The reality is that there is no consensus amongst the people of Scotland that that should take place.
00:35And we're very clear that there will not be another referendum on that.
00:37And we want to get on and focus actually on how to do things that make a difference to people
00:42in Scotland.
00:44Today, Andy will be speaking close to the site of Ravenscraig, which became emblematic in the past of the de
00:50-industrialisation of Scotland.
00:52And at a time when there are massive opportunities here around defence, around energy, opportunities that can bring better jobs
01:00to lots of parts of Scotland and put more money in people's pockets.
01:03We want that to work well for people here.
01:06That's why Andy wants to work with the Scottish government on making these changes, because it's to our benefit of
01:11people here on the ground.
01:12That's why Andy wants to work with the Scottish government on making these changes.
