An Australian Defence Force member has been identified as a person of interest, after a recording device was found in the women's bathroom of a navy ship. The device was discovered on Sunday, on HMAS Leeuwin, while it was docked in Cairns. Natalie Colbert from the Women's Veterans Network says she's disappointed and disgusted by the discovery.

00:02I am one of those fortunate ones who enjoy the respect and trust with my military fighting
00:09teams but I do know that like anywhere in defence and society there are issues of sexual
00:16violence and sexual assault. I think at this moment there's a level of disappointment
00:22and potentially concern about what's going on in their workplaces and they'd certainly
00:28be looking a little bit more carefully in their private bathrooms and shower facilities right
00:34now. We get a wide ranging response to issues that have occurred when they've served in the
00:39Defence Force. It's a small military and we have a low percentage of women in comparison
00:46to male in a very male dominated environment so there are issues that always come to the
00:52fore in a lot of conversations but overall there's a lot of positives and that's the biggest
00:58shame is that we lose sight of those positives.
