00:00New details are emerging following the death of Breaking Bad star RJ Mitty
00:04as friends and former co-stars remember the actor and share insight into some of the challenges he was facing
00:09before his death at 34.
00:12Mitty's ex-girlfriend Saint Sasha paid tribute to the actor in an emotional Instagram post
00:17sharing throwback photos of the pair together.
00:20Sasha, who dated Mitty when they were teenagers,
00:22remembered him as one of the kindest and rarest hearts she had ever known.
00:27She also credited Mitty with showing her how a partner should treat her,
00:30writing that he was the first person to make her feel unstoppable.
00:33She ended her tribute by thanking him and expressing her love for him.
00:37The actor had gotten engaged to his girlfriend of five years, Kennedy Suarez, in October 2025.
00:43He proposed at a charity event benefiting United's Cerebral Palsy of San Diego,
00:48where he served as an ambassador.
00:50Meanwhile, Mitty's Breaking Bad co-star Luis Moncada is opening up about their final days together.
00:55Moncada, who played Marco Salamanca on the AMC series,
00:59said he reunited with Mitty at a charity golf tournament more than a week before his death.
01:04Moncada noticed that something seemed different about his friend,
01:07describing him as unusually tired and sad.
01:10He invited Mitty to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta the following day
01:14in the hopes of lifting his spirits.
01:17Moncada said Mitty seemed to be struggling with the pressures of life
01:20and feeling pulled in different directions.
01:22He became emotional while recalling their final conversation,
01:26revealing that he had invited Mitty to stay with him and his son for a few days.
01:30Mitty declined, but Moncada asked him to promise to call when he got home.
01:35He said that call never came.
01:37Mitty's death has also renewed attention to the professional challenges
01:40he faced as an actor with Cerebral Palsy.
01:43In text messages obtained by the Daily Mail,
01:46Mitty expressed frustration over being offered roles that gave his characters little depth
01:50or treated disability as their defining characteristic.
01:53In 2022, he wrote that he was receiving scripts in which his character would essentially be a prop,
01:59adding that he had started writing his own material.
02:01He also spoke about casting directors overlooking him for roles
02:04that weren't specifically written for disabled characters.
02:07Despite those frustrations, Mitty continued advocating for greater representation
02:11and opportunity for people with disabilities.
02:14Just weeks before his death, he told Page Six he was cautiously optimistic
02:18that Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan might have plans for a spinoff.
02:22I'm cautiously optimistic that Vince has something in mind.
02:28I'm not entirely sure.
02:30At the end of the day, any chance I can work with Vince and his team is a dream come
02:36true.
02:36Mitty's cause of death was confirmed as suicide, according to his representative.
02:41An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death was ongoing,
02:45and a medical examiner was expected to determine the manner of death following an autopsy.
02:50His former on-screen father, Bryan Cranston, shared his devastation in a tribute,
02:55recalling that the two had been texting just weeks earlier to arrange lunch.
02:59Cranston said he would miss Mitty and remembered him for his determination,
03:02noting that he never allowed cerebral palsy to become an excuse for not meeting the demands of the job.
03:08Aaron Paul also paid tribute to his co-star,
03:11saying he was heartbroken by the news and reminding others that they are loved and not alone.
03:16Mitty leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond his role as Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad,
