00:02Quit Tasmania is making smokers an offer.
00:04Give up cigarettes and vapes and it will cover the cost of nicotine replacement products like patches, gum and lozenges.
00:12We've heard from Tasmanians that there are barriers to getting free support to quit smoking and quitting products.
00:20So there is generally a cost involved.
00:23I definitely think it's going to help because obviously price plays a big factor into that stuff, especially in this
00:28day.
00:29Tasmanians aged over 12 will be eligible to get the free products, but they'll need to call the quit line
00:35to sign up or be referred by a health professional.
00:38So once they call through, they'll talk to one of our counsellors.
00:41They'll do a pre-assessment questionnaire to see if there's any contraindications or precautions we need to be aware of.
00:47And then they'll get some behavioural support.
00:51Depending on what kind of medication that they're on, any heart problems that we need to know about, anything that
00:58is a red flag that pops up, then we'll send it to the GP to make sure that it's confirmed
01:04that it's able to be used.
01:06People who are approved to take part in the program will receive free nicotine replacement therapy products for 12 weeks.
01:13Quit Tasmania says it has $140,000 worth of state government funding to pay for the products, so it can
01:20support around 400 people.
01:22The scheme will run until next June, or until the funding runs out.
01:26A while at the end of the program is not changing, but it's not changing.
01:27The scheme will be used as an allocation for all the way.
01:27At the end of the program will be used for the treatment of the Joaquin.
01:29The club has been used for the pilot program, so thank you for the aim to have the pilot program.
01:29The care that you ought to be used for the pilot program is to conduct the pilot program.
01:29And it's very important to me about to read the pilot program.
