00:00Evelyn, take the fall for me. You're the financial director. They'll only give you three to five years max.
00:04When you get out, $50 million. Cash straight your account. David and Lily, I'll support them for life.
00:07I was making $100,000 a year back then. A few years in prisons in exchange for my husband and
00:11daughter's lifetime of luxury,
00:13plus saving the family business, I said yes. I ended up with 10 years.
00:18Good behavior got me two months off. I actually served 3,592 days.
00:24I went from being a sharp corporate executive to a woman with dark, haunted eyes.
00:31The day I got out, no one came to pick me up. I took a cab straight to what used
00:35to be home.
00:37That house in the upscale neighborhood. I imagined pushing the door open, with David holding me in tears and Lily
00:44shyly calling me mom.
00:47Before I could even react, I heard a clear whinnying sound from the living room.
00:53Giddy up! Run! The dragon's coming!
00:56Strange boy riding my daughter like a horse, yanking her collar.
00:59This little trap was bullying my girl.
01:02Ten years in hell had turned my reflex as razor sharp as a wild wolf's.
01:07He let out a blood-killing scream.
01:09Lily turned her head and looked at me like I was a monster.
01:11She was so scared she forgot to even scream.
01:14Lily, are you okay?
01:16Who are you?
01:18Those words cut deeper than any knife.
01:29The woman stood frozen, staring at me, and I looked back at her.
01:33Tommy!
01:34Everything about her screamed money and privilege.
01:37Tommy, sweetie, where does it hurt? Let mommy see.
01:43Mommy?
01:43Mommy?
01:44My own daughter, whom I carried for nine months, was calling another woman mommy?
01:48My brain just exploded.
01:50You crazy woman! Why did you hit my son?
01:52David, get out here! Some beggar broke into our house!
01:55David, just hearing that name made my blood run cold.
01:58What's all the yelling about?
02:03Evelyn.
02:05How come you're out today?
02:07Ten years. My husband had gotten softer, better maintained.
02:09He didn't rush to hug me.
02:11His eyes held only panic and barely disguised disgust.
02:15David, I'm asking you,
02:16who is this woman?
02:18And whose bastard is that boy?
02:19Wash your mouth!
02:20I'm David's legal wife.
02:21Tommy is our biological son, born after we got married.
02:24Legal wife, biological son,
02:26like poisoned nails hammered right into my skull.
02:29I went to prison for my family,
02:31and my husband married someone else,
02:32had a son,
02:33and made my daughter play horse for his bastard.
02:40David, I went to prison for Richard.
02:42You took the 50 million I earned for this family.
02:44This is how you waited for me?
02:45Evelyn, don't be crazy.
02:46We divorced three years ago.
02:47You signed the papers in prison.
02:48I signed the divorce papers
02:49because you said Lily needed a clean family background for school.
02:52You swear you'd wait for me.
02:53People have to move on.
03:02David, get this convicted crazy woman out of here right now.
03:05She's scaring the children.
03:06David pulled out his phone and dialed.
03:08Richard?
03:09Yeah, she got out early.
03:11She's here making a scene.
03:12You better come over.
03:13Half an hour later,
03:14a black Maybach pulled up outside.
03:16Richard walked in,
03:17wearing an expensive Italian suit.
03:19God, Evelyn!
03:20You got out early?
03:21Why didn't you tell me
03:22I'd have sent a private chopper to pick you up?
03:24A helicopter?
03:25To see my husband's new wife
03:27or to see you living the high life on my blood money?
03:29Ten years.
03:30My own brother didn't show a sled of guilt.
03:32He looked healthier than ever,
03:33wearing that fake Wall Street arrogance.
03:35Look, Evelyn,
03:36David remarrying is unfortunate,
03:37but Chloe's a good mother.
03:39Lily's at the best private school in New York now.
03:40Save it.
03:41Where's my 50 million money you promised me?
03:42Where did it go?
03:43Evelyn, you just got out.
03:44You don't understand.
03:45Aurora's expanded a lot now.
03:46Cash flow is tight.
03:4750 million isn't pocket change.
03:48Cash flow tight?
03:49That was ten years of my life and freedom.
03:51Enough, Evelyn!
03:52Take this 2,000.
03:53Buy yourself some decent clothes,
03:55find a cheap apartment.
03:56As for the 50 million,
03:57once the company's cash flow improves,
03:58I'll pay you the installments.
03:59$2,000?
04:01Richard, do I look like a homeless beggar to you?
04:02Evelyn, you're a convicted felon on parole.
04:04The only reason you can stand here
04:05yelling at me is my generosity.
04:06Take the money and don't cause trouble.
04:08Family?
04:08Promises?
04:09To him,
04:10I was just a pawn to be discarded once used.
04:14Richard, you better hope I'm just a crazy troublemaker.
04:17Because once I get my head straight,
04:18I'm sending every single one of you to hell.
04:28That night, it poured.
04:30I didn't even have a coat,
04:32just the thin one I left prison in.
04:34David was smiling so gently in that photo.
04:36It was from our second year of marriage.
04:39For that smile,
04:40I gladly became Richard's scapegoat.
04:42Pathetic.
04:43So pathetic.
04:44I lost my marriage,
04:46my freedom,
04:46and even my own daughter didn't recognize me.
04:49My whole life was a complete joke.
04:54Evelyn, get in.
04:56Demon.
04:57My college classmate,
04:58my old rival from mock trial
05:00who always one-upped me.
05:01Now he's one of New York's
05:02highest-paid criminal defense lawyers.
05:16How did you know I was getting out today?
05:18I've been waiting.
05:19For ten years,
05:20I never stopped investigating the Aurora case.
05:22The car's heat was on full blows,
05:24but my hands were still like ice.
05:30Come to my place.
05:31I've got a guest room ready.
05:32You need rest,
05:33and you need to know what really happened
05:34out here for ten years.
05:35David got remarried.
05:36Richard became a billionaire.
05:38What else is there to know?
05:39You think Richard making you his scapegoat
05:41was just on a whim?
05:42Look at this.
05:43Under the reading light,
05:45I opened the file.
05:46The papers inside hit me
05:47like a sledgehammer to the chest.
05:49This...
05:50This can't be real.
05:58It was a document from ten years ago,
06:01a month before Richard begged me
06:02to take the fall.
06:03An internal Aurora Pharmaceuticals
06:05equity transfer agreement
06:06and liability waiver.
06:07It clearly showed that
06:09all the offshore accounts involved
06:10in the money laundering
06:11had been transferred to my name.
06:13He'd set me up to take the fall
06:15without me even knowing.
06:17The tears and begging that night,
06:18it was all an act.
06:25Exactly.
06:26He needed someone who knew
06:26finance inside out
06:27and would never betray him
06:28to take the bullet.
06:29You were the perfect target
06:30because you were his sister.
06:31My last thread of fantasy,
06:33hoping to get the 50 million
06:34and run away with Lily,
06:35shattered in that moment.
06:36Damon, why are you helping me?
06:37Because I hate watching smart people
06:39get destroyed by idiots.
06:41And because I want to help you
06:43bring down Aurora Pharmaceuticals.
07:10going after that 50 million today,
07:12that's walking right into a trap.
07:14Getting your money back,
07:16that'd be too easy on him.
07:23Ten years.
07:24I wasted ten whole years
07:26in this fake family scam.
07:30Damon, I'm not giving up
07:33a single penny of that 50 million.
07:35Oh.
07:36You still trust him?
07:39No.
07:40I'm going to use that 50 million
07:42as the rope to hang him with.
07:51From this moment on,
07:53the Evelyn who sacrificed everything
07:55for her family died
07:56in that women's prison.
08:01I'm taking back everything that's mine.
08:19Ten years apart,
08:21I just wanted to see Lily
08:22from a distance.
08:29Lily, why are you walking so slowly?
08:31Tommy's about to fall
08:32because of you.
08:38Sorry, Mommy.
08:40Don't call me Mommy.
08:41That's gross.
08:42Pick it up and throw it in the trash.
08:43Don't get my car seat dirty.
08:46Seeing that, my blood boiled.
08:48David swore he'd treat Lily
08:49like a princess.
08:51This was his idea
08:52of princess treatment.
08:53If you go out there now,
08:54you'll never get visitation rights.
08:56Calm down, Evelyn.
09:18You think David's been suffering all these years?
09:21Take a look at this.
09:23I opened the file.
09:24It was a long list of offshore trust account transactions.
09:32Aurora Pharmaceuticals?
09:34Richard's been sending money
09:35to David's shell company every year?
09:37Yep.
09:37Not only is he not broke,
09:38he's been bleeding your family's
09:40pharmaceutical empire dry
09:41and has become a millionaire.
09:43I did 10 years for Richard
09:44and David traded me
09:46for 10 years of luxury.
09:53He told me to take the fall
09:54to save this family,
09:55but he'd already made a deal
09:57with Richard selling me
09:58like a piece of merchandise.
09:59Right before you went in,
10:01David transferred a huge sum
10:02to Chloe's personal account
10:03with the note,
10:04medical compensation.
10:06Medical compensation?
10:06That money didn't stay with Chloe.
10:08It ended up at a notorious
10:09underground fertility clinic
10:10in New York.
10:12Evelyn, 10 years ago,
10:13what happened there?
10:15Underground fertility clinic.
10:16The words hit the most painful nerve I had.
10:19Back then,
10:20I had trouble conceiving naturally
10:21because of all the overtime
10:22I pulled doing Aurora's books.
10:24David knelt by the bed
10:25begging me to try IVF.
10:26He said he'd do anything
10:27to have a child with me.
10:28David found that clinic.
10:29I went through painful egg retrieval
10:31and hormone shots
10:31and the doctor implanted
10:32the embryos into my womb.
10:33I carried her for nine months
10:34through morning sickness and swelling
10:36and nearly bled to death
10:36in the delivery room.
10:37I gave birth to Lily
10:38and raised her until she was two
10:39right before I went to prison.
10:40What does David paying
10:41Coey medical compensation
10:42have to do with my IVF?
10:45That clinic was shut down
10:46by the FBI three years ago
10:48for illegal operations.
10:49David paid Chloe
10:50and Chloe paid the clinic.
10:52Doesn't that trail
10:52look dirty to you?
10:53What are you saying?
10:55I got a hacker friend
10:56to break into their
10:57seized database last night.
10:58Watching Damon's grim expression,
11:00a sick feeling twisted
11:01around my heart like a snake.
11:15This is your complete medical record
11:17from that clinic.
11:18David thought these were
11:19destroyed long ago.
11:23Evelyn,
11:24you'd better come see this yourself.
11:29I stared at those
11:30cold medical terms
11:31on the screen,
11:32my head buzzing.
11:36Cultivation failed.
11:37Egg viability,
11:39zero percent.
11:41No, that's not right.
11:45The doctor showed me
11:46the report back then
11:47and said three healthy embryos
11:49were successfully cultivated.
11:50David was right there
11:52and he cried with joy.
11:54The doctor took bribes
11:56from David and Chloe
11:56and fabricated
11:57the medical report
11:58given to you.
12:03If all my eggs died
12:04on day one,
12:05then what did the doctor
12:06implant in my uterus?
12:11Who the hell is Lily?
12:13The daughter I carried
12:14for nine months.
12:22If the embryo planted in me
12:23had none of my DNA,
12:24then what was all
12:24that pain for?
12:25The nine months of pregnancy,
12:26the near-death delivery,
12:27and then ten years in prison
12:28on top of it all,
12:29what was it all for?
12:30David and Richard
12:30had this plan from the start.
12:31Full truth,
12:32we need Lily's DNA
12:32for comparison with yours.
12:33Only hard proof
12:34will finally set you free.
12:37There are follicles on this.
12:40Good.
12:40I'll get this to the most
12:41reputable forensic lab,
12:43expedited.
12:46The 48 hours waiting
12:47for the results
12:48were worse than
12:49ten years in prison.
12:50David's tenderness
12:51during those prenatal checkups,
12:53his joy as my belly grew.
12:54I thought he loved me.
12:55He was just relieved
12:56someone else was carrying
12:57his child.
12:58They lifted me up,
12:58made me believe
12:59we had a happy family,
13:00just so they could use
13:01saving the family
13:02as an excuse
13:02to make me take the fall
13:03when the money laundering
13:04came to light.
13:07Evelyn,
13:08the expedited results
13:09are in.
