00:04Getting lost amongst the crop for the first time in four years.
00:08Louie Smith's property has already recorded 350 millimetres of rain, more than doubling
00:14the 2025 total.
00:16We're literally like kids in a lolly factory again, we're just running around playing
00:19in the mud, I'm like wow, might take us back, we're now three year olds.
00:24While signs of the drought remain, almost 700 livestock now fill her paddocks.
00:29It's absolute chalk and cheese.
00:31Cattle are fat, sheep are fat, lambs are already sold, we basically haven't fed much through
00:37at all.
00:38Down the road in Bugle Hut, Kiara Fisher's three year old runs through healthy crops for the
00:42first time.
00:43It's a different picture to last year.
00:46It's crazy that my mind has just blocked it out.
00:49It's like childbirth, like let's not remember it so that we do it again.
00:54It's expected to be a bumper harvest across the state.
00:57Our average is around 9 million tonnes and at the moment we're estimating that it could
01:03reach more than 13 million tonnes, which would be a record in South Australia.
01:08As long as these locusts don't interfere.
01:10The drought has broken but input costs are still high.
01:14Diesel prices have soared with many farmers still rebuilding from consecutive dry years.
01:20They say they're not out of the woods yet.
01:23We're in the situation where we're going to have to sell most of our saleable grain that
01:30we're not holding onto for feed just to pay the bills from the last three years.
01:35We're going four or five years in between selling loads of grain.
01:39It's going to be a good feeling to see a truck pull in and actually take a load of grain
01:42to
01:42the silo system.
01:43A harvest helping to rebuild hope.
01:46Weee!!
01:47Weeeee!
