02:49Микфолк set to kick this off as
02:51Atlanta won the toss to defer the
02:52option to the second half.
02:55Baltimore has got Chris Moore
02:56and Rasheen Ali back deep to
02:59receive.
03:01Falcons all that offense those
03:03two games away from Atlanta after
03:05the 0-2 start coming at 500 and
03:08Baltimore 3-1 in what looks like
03:11a good AFC North.
03:15Glad you're with us.
03:16It's been a great day of
03:17football so far.
03:18Off we go on this Sunday night
03:19in primetime from Atlanta.
03:21Ali three deep takes a knee and
03:23here is the Ravens offense.
03:26Tyler Huntley, Utah.
03:27Derrick Henry, Alabama.
03:29Rashad Bateman, Tiffin, Georgia.
03:31Zay Flowers, Boston College.
03:33Mark Andrews, Oklahoma.
03:35Matt Hibner, Southern Methodist.
03:37Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame.
03:39John Simpson, Clemson.
03:40Olavar Venga, you want it?
03:42Penn State.
03:43Emory Jones, LSU.
03:44Roger Ovengarden, Washington.
03:45They have had so many injuries up
03:48front.
03:49Venga Ioane is their rookie out of
03:51Penn State.
03:52He's the fourth different center
03:53who's played for them.
03:54They traded for Cam Juergens this
03:56week from Philadelphia.
03:57Juergens inactive.
03:59Probably get to him next week.
04:00It gets to Zay Flowers to start
04:02this game using his speed on the
04:03edge.
04:04A gain of 13.
04:05Flowers gets out to shy midfield
04:07on the game's first play with
04:09Xavier Watts on the tackle.
04:11And the number one thing you want
04:13to do is sort of distract a little
04:15attention away from Derrick Henry
04:17and how to do it.
04:18Zay Flowers, who has just been
04:20electric for the Ravens from
04:22opening day on this year.
04:24Usually he does it as a receiver
04:25down the field, but get him the
04:27ball any way you can.
04:29Second run on the season.
04:32As Tyler Huntley gets set to get
04:34this Ravens offense rolling.
04:36Make it that time inside to
04:38Henry gets the handoff off to the
04:40big pack and he gets the 45-yard
04:42line.
04:43So a gain of seven for Henry.
04:45Just the opposite on that one,
04:47right, Mike?
04:48That time they're going to fake it
04:49to Zay Flowers, but this handoff
04:51almost didn't work.
04:53And luckily, Henry able to hang
04:55on to that one, but nice sequence
04:57of plays there.
04:59I'm not sure he knew it was
05:00coming.
05:00Yeah.
05:01Trap door was closed there for a
05:03second.
05:04Hey, back to back to.
05:06Here it comes to the sideline,
05:07Justice Hill is next to the
05:09quarterback.
05:10Huntley for second and three.
05:12And Hill's got it.
05:15Incomplete.
05:16Never secured it as he was
05:18fumbling it.
05:18Goes out of bounds.
05:19It'll set up third down.
05:21Well, Huntley's been around a
05:22bunch.
05:22Seventh season in the league.
05:23It's the sixth straight year.
05:25He started a game with
05:27Baltimore all but one of those
05:28seasons in the league.
05:29One, both of his starts last
05:31year, including a must-win in
05:33Green Bay on a Saturday night,
05:35week 17, as Lamar Jackson out
05:37with that ankle that he
05:38injured right before halftime
05:40in the win over Tennessee in
05:42Maryland last Sunday.
05:48Hill remains the back third and
05:50three.
05:53Got it inside.
05:55And Hill accelerates into the
05:57secondary, brought down the
05:5824-yard line.
05:59Big game for Hill before Mike
06:01Hughes, the veteran corner,
06:03brings him down.
06:04Tell you what, good work inside
06:06by Venga Ioane, the center.
06:08He plays guard usually, but
06:10watch him reach out and around.
06:12And, Mike, we have to remember
06:13that this is the best rushing
06:16defense in the league so far,
06:18allowing just 2.7 yards per
06:20carry.
06:20But we have not seen that so far.
06:23A definite upgrade in
06:25competition here with the
06:26Ravens running.
06:27Yeah, they've given up an
06:28average of 48 per game.
06:29They've given up 41 on the first
06:31three runs so far tonight.
06:35Run four.
06:37He's got more than the 18-yard
06:40line as he stumbles forward.
06:42And Kendall Jack Daniels, the
06:44rookie linebacker, brought him
06:45down.
06:48Yeah, we have seen a lot of
06:50things out of this Atlanta
06:51football team this year.
06:54But I think maybe the most
06:56surprising is a team really with
06:57not a lot of stars on it.
06:59A lot of free agents, a lot of
07:00people that kind of came over
07:02here.
07:03Jeff Ulbrich put them all
07:04together.
07:05But they have been very, very
07:07good so far.
07:07But we'll see tonight.
07:10Jeff, the defensive coordinator
07:12for this Falcons team, a hold
07:13over from the last staff.
07:16Huntley, chase, throws,
07:17complete.
07:18Kay Flowers stays inbounds,
07:20dancing at the 10th.
07:21Down to the 8-yard line,
07:22gate of 11.
07:23Flowers on a roll early on.
07:25First and goal, Baltimore.
07:27And you're going to see it.
07:28You'll see a lot of the same
07:30Lamar Jackson kind of plays,
07:31bootleg action here.
07:34And Huntley's about a 4-5
07:36runner himself.
07:37Just barely
07:39hopscotched his way right down
07:41there.
07:44Guy who came in with a foot
07:45injury, looks just fine right
07:47now.
07:47Flowers.
07:49First and goal here for the
07:50Ravens.
07:51They've moved it quickly down the
07:52field, 57 yards on six plays.
07:58Henry.
07:59To the outside, Henry, to the
08:01goal line, down just short.
08:04At the 1.
08:05He is brought down.
08:07Mark Andrews wanted the
08:08touchdown.
08:10But another good game for Henry
08:12on the ground.
08:13Let's look at it.
08:13And Mike Hughes, let's give him
08:15credit.
08:15that most cornerbacks are not
08:19opting to do that.
08:25Elbow down.
08:26Yep.
08:27Down and out.
08:28Just inside the 1.
08:30So it'll be second and goal.
08:32Extra lineman comes in.
08:33Carson Vincent.
08:37Derrick Henry, Wildcat.
08:39He's got it.
08:41And the Falcons with a push up
08:43front.
08:43Penalty marker down on the far
08:44side.
08:46They come up with a stop to
08:47check the flag.
08:49Brad Allen, who's worked a
08:50wild card game five in the
08:52last six years, referee
08:53tonight.
08:56I wonder if this is formation
08:57with that extra lineman in
08:59there, 76.
09:00Vincent.
09:05Illegal formation.
09:06Offense number 76, who had
09:08reported it's eligible, was
09:10covered.
09:10That penalty has declined.
09:13Or down.
09:13I also want to point out, you
09:14see his shirt moving and hear
09:16the wind with this open roof.
09:17There is a little bit of a win
09:18factor down there.
09:19Back to the flag.
09:20Yeah, there is.
09:21And as a wide receiver, you're
09:22used to, if there's an
09:24offensive lineman down inside
09:26you, you have to be on the line
09:28of scrimmage.
09:28But when he declares himself
09:30eligible, you have to be off the
09:32line of scrimmage.
09:44Huntley spins, fires, incomplete
09:46through the hands of Mark
09:48Andrews.
09:49So taking the play with the loss
09:50of a couple, keeping it at third
09:52and goal, it's incomplete and the
09:54Ravens will try to get points in
09:56this opening drive and they'll get
09:57the field goal.
10:00Yeah, we've got the brand new
10:01center playing guard his whole
10:03life and this snap was a little
10:05bit off.
10:06And so many times, Mike, in these
10:08goal line and short yardage
10:09situations, you've got to make a
10:11quick move, right?
10:12And so those shotgun snaps,
10:13especially don't have a lot of
10:15experience for y'all.
10:17But what a stand there by the
10:18Atlanta Falcons.
10:19They needed that.
10:20Yeah, looks like the Ravens
10:21is going to walk right in.
10:22Tyler Luef has had a couple of
10:24big field goals already this
10:26season, knocks this one through
10:28from 21 yards.
10:31And the Ravens promising opening
10:33drive into three.
10:35And Stefanski's offense on the
10:36field when we come back.
10:39Features of this stadium, the
10:40helmets representing all the
10:41high school football teams and
10:43the flags representing all the
10:44flag football teams in Georgia.
10:46It's a great football state and
10:47these three guys get ready to
10:49come on the field.
10:50Nate Wiggins, Roquan Snow,
10:51about 100 miles away from here.
10:53And Kyle Hamilton that went to
10:54high school about 15 miles from
10:56here.
10:57Bunch of tickets bought by a
10:58bunch of Ravens for a homecoming
11:00for a lot of them here tonight.
11:02Tyler Luef picks it.
11:03Olamide Zaccheaus, nice return
11:05to the 33.
11:06There is a flag down.
11:08So that will impact the starting
11:11field position for Michael
11:12Pennix Jr. and the Falcons in all
11:14likelihood.
11:15Here's Brad Allen.
11:17During the return, holding,
11:19receiving team, number 34,
11:2110-yard penalty from the spot of the
11:23foul.
11:24It's first down, Atlanta.
11:26And here's their offense.
11:28Michael Pennix, Washington.
11:30B.J. Robinson, Texas.
11:32Drake Linden, USC.
11:33Jahan Dodson, Nazareth Area High
11:35School.
11:36Carl Fitzsinger, Florida.
11:37Charlie Warner, Raven County High
11:39School.
11:39Jake Matthews, Texas A&M.
11:42Matthew Bergeron, Syracuse.
11:43Brian Neuzel, Appalachia State.
11:45Chris Lindstrom, Boston College.
11:47Juwan Taylor, Florida.
11:50Very good offensive line, this group.
11:52Averaging almost 460 yards per game
11:55in the back-to-back wins that they
11:56had at Green Bay and New Orleans.
11:59Compel to back them up to the 17-yard
12:02line for this opening drive.
12:11Here's the Ravens fans making noise
12:13right away.
12:13The fake to Dijon and Pennix.
12:15First throw in the middle.
12:16Nearly intercepted by Wiggins.
12:19The intended receiver was Drake
12:20London.
12:26Oh, baby.
12:28That one was a little behind right
12:30there, but we have seen Michael
12:32Pennix in this return be red hot,
12:35but you can see what they're trying
12:37to do, all these guys.
12:38They want to establish that they
12:40will throw the ball, right?
12:42So you get all those guys up around
12:44the line of scrimmage, but we will
12:45throw it.
12:48And they run it.
12:49Robinson, 4 yards to the 21-yard line.
12:52Pennix comes back for the third game
12:55after coming back from his third ACL
12:58surgery.
12:58He taught his lefty ACL in November,
13:00eighth overall pick in the draft in
13:022024.
13:03He played at Indiana where he had
13:04a couple of those ACL injuries on
13:06the right side.
13:07Then started at Washington, had a
13:09terrific end to his college career.
13:10He was the Heisman runner-up to
13:12Jaden Daniels before being a part of
13:14that big draft class.
13:15Pressure up the middle.
13:16Got rid of it, and it's right into
13:18the helmet of one of the Ravens.
13:20And incomplete.
13:21Tavius Robinson took the ball off
13:23the helmet, because Trenton Simpson
13:24was making a freeway feline to the
13:27quarterback.
13:28He sure was.
13:29Straight up the gut here.
13:30Just nobody picked him up.
13:31Kind of went in Chris Lindstrom's
13:34space as he was trying to help and
13:35maybe pass off.
13:37But man, that was not the way this
13:40offense has looked the last couple
13:41of weeks.
13:43Doink saved him.
13:46That drive was quick.
13:4946 seconds.
13:50It felt like it was shorter than that.
13:52Jake Bailey getting this one away.
13:54Good kick.
13:5556 yards, and it's fielded with a fair
13:57catch.
13:58Back around the 23-yard line by
14:00LaJounte Western.
14:02The Ravens defense announces its
14:04presence early on.
14:06Gives the ball back to their
14:07offense.
14:09Skycam coverage is delivered by
14:12Walmart+.
14:14Beautiful building.
14:16Tenth year since its opening in
14:182017.
14:19Saw the arena where the Hawks play
14:21right next door.
14:22The World Congress Center.
14:23Just a really cool part on the west
14:26side of downtown Atlanta.
14:27Drive number two for Snoop, as he's
14:30called.
14:30Because he looked like Snoop Dogg
14:31when he was a kid.
14:32Tyler Huntley, and that nickname
14:34Snoop has hung on forever in his
14:36seventh year in the league out of
14:37Utah.
14:38And Chris, they're really comfortable
14:39with him as their backup quarterback.
14:41He and Lamar Jackson are real
14:43buddies, too.
14:44Same neighborhood, hang out all the
14:46time.
14:47There are some similarities.
14:49He's driving starts at the 23.
14:54Derrick Henry Wright.
14:57Four-ten.
14:58And a first down against this
15:00Atlanta defense.
15:02Brandon Gordon, Oregon.
15:03Mason Smith, LSU.
15:05Javron Detson, senior.
15:06Florida.
15:07Cameron Thomas, San Diego State.
15:09Devon Diablo, Virginia Tech.
15:11Kendall Daniels, Oklahoma.
15:13Samson, able to come east in
15:15Washington.
15:15Mike Hughes, UCF.
15:17Jesse Bates III, Wake Forest.
15:19Xavier Watts, Notre Dame.
15:21CJ Henderson, University of
15:22Florida.
15:23They're the coordinators with the
15:25balls with the Ravens.
15:2630-year-old Declan Doyle calling
15:27the plays.
15:28Jeff Ulbrich on the Atlanta side.
15:30Hundley pressured.
15:32And he's brought down.
15:34This group up front, Jared Ivey
15:37coming in to get the sack.
15:40The second year in the league.
15:42I spent a couple of his college
15:43years at Georgia Tech.
15:45Yeah, Mike, the amazing thing
15:47about this team is that they have
15:48not been finishing those sacks.
15:51You'll see the pressure coming
15:52around from the outside here.
15:53But they lead the NFL with 115
15:56pressures, 33 quarterback hits.
15:58But they're tied for 22nd in sacks
16:01with that just being their eighth.
16:03But they desperately needed a play.
16:05They were getting romped in that
16:08first drive.
16:09That 51-on-51 crime was Emory
16:12Jones, the right guard, in tonight
16:14for Andrew Voorhees, who was beat
16:16for the sack.
16:17This is Andrews.
16:18Lost the ball on the way down.
16:20No whistle.
16:21It's ruled a live ball as it's taken
16:23back to the end zone for the moment
16:26for a Jesse Bates touchdown.
16:42Not down.
16:44Look at it again, and it is punched
16:47out by Sidney Brown.
16:51Unbelievable.
16:52This game has been like an optical
16:55illusion so far.
16:56We're seeing the Ravens have
16:58everything go right, and all of a
17:00sudden they fumble the football,
17:01and there it goes the other way.
17:04Wow.
17:05What a turn of events that is.
17:08And for Sidney Brown, that was a
17:11very accurate punch.
17:14That's back-to-back plays after
17:16Baltimore was walking the ball up
17:18and down the field.
17:19The sack and then the knockout by
17:22Brown returned by Bates.
17:24Extra point added by Nick Falk,
17:27and just like that, the Atlanta
17:29Falcons outplayed the first seven
17:31minutes of change.
17:32Take the lead.
17:33One of their best in the back end,
17:35Jesse Bates.
17:37Brings it to the house on the
17:38turnover by Andrews.
17:42Great press for Atlanta.
17:44He's cutting out the GM on the
17:45left, and they have Josh Blank,
17:46son of Arthur Blank, on the far
17:48right.
17:48And, of course, Matt Ryan, who
17:50is taking over running the
17:51football operations here for the
17:53Falcons.
17:54Great quarterback during his days
17:55with Atlanta.
17:57Worked in TV, and then Matt has
17:58come here talking to Matt to
18:00practice Friday, Chris.
18:02He wasn't looking to do this job
18:04necessarily, but he said Arthur
18:05Blank, who drafted him, came to
18:07him with the opportunity.
18:08He said it was a one-of-one
18:09opportunity, and Matt's presence
18:12in the building has really
18:13jump-started so many things in a
18:15positive vein for this
18:16franchise.
18:17Well, he was here for a long
18:18time, and you've got to have
18:19people you trust making
18:21decisions, and clearly Arthur
18:22Blank wanted somebody that he
18:24knew he could trust, somebody
18:25that was the right kind of
18:27person, and so far so good
18:29putting these teams together.
18:32Second time, Ravens take over the
18:3435.
18:34Derrick Henry chokes her yards
18:36tonight.
18:37Almost 10 there for the first
18:39down.
18:39More on the Ravens with Melissa.
18:41Yeah, Mike.
18:41Lamar Jackson down here with tape
18:43on that left ankle.
18:44Very active with both the offense
18:46and the defense.
18:46He's wearing a near piece,
18:48listening to the play calls.
18:49Has an armband with all the
18:50plays, and after the Ravens'
18:52turnover, he went right up to
18:53Tyler Huntley, gave him the pat on
18:54the back.
18:55He grabbed a tablet and started
18:57coaching him up again.
18:59Love seeing that, and that jives
19:01with everything we've heard from
19:02the Ravens, how Lamar has been
19:03just terrific in his involvement
19:05with his team.
19:06The snap direct to Henry.
19:09Get the first down, even though
19:11he's pulled down by LaCale
19:13London.
19:14We have seen a little bit of
19:16everything tonight out of
19:17Declan Doyle, and why not, you
19:19know?
19:20That's not good for Baltimore.
19:21Roger Rosengarten is down and
19:24hurt.
19:24This is a Ravens offensive line
19:26that has had a ton of problems
19:28so far this year.
19:31Many different combinations.
19:34As we mentioned earlier, through
19:36several centers, already nine
19:38offensive line combinations tied
19:39for second most in the league.
19:42Carson Vinson, who was out earlier
19:45near the goal line as an extra
19:47lineman.
19:47He's the swing tackle and comes in.
19:50But there you get a look.
19:51They had Tyler Linderbaum,
19:53terrific center.
19:54He signed a really big free agency
19:56contract with the Raiders, so they
19:59had to go in the offseason and
20:01plan.
20:01They brought in those three centers.
20:02They're all on IR.
20:03They all got hurt.
20:04Jesse Minter, a lot of balls to
20:06juggle early on up front.
20:10One of the few guys who's taking
20:12all the snaps up front, Roger
20:13Rosengarten there.
20:15Lamar Jackson welcoming him back to
20:17the sideline.
20:17Here's what happened on that play.
20:21See, LaCale London's going to whip
20:23around and really hit his own guy
20:24first, and then the ricochet almost
20:27got Roger Rosengarten, and he is a
20:29very important part of this
20:32offensive line.
20:33No sacks, no hits given up so far
20:35this year.
20:36And to Carson Vinson over there at
20:39the left tackle spot.
20:41Right tackle spot.
20:43Got the starting left tackle in Rio.
20:45They played the Cowboys in Brazil.
20:47Third and short, and Humbley just
20:49keeps it, and he'll have the first
20:51down across the 45-yard line.
20:56Significant, significant.
20:58Need to get him back on the field.
21:00He looks like he's doing better.
21:02It's a good sign when they hand you
21:03your helmet, Bass.
21:05But this really has been one of the
21:08most one-sided leads for the other
21:11team that I've seen in a while.
21:13I mean, it really looks like the
21:15Baltimore Ravens are the much stronger
21:17unit right now, but the scoreboard
21:20does not say that.
21:23Fake to Derrick Henry.
21:26Trying to get it to Henry.
21:27Pass is broken up and incomplete.
21:29Bring up second down.
21:31Hand up from Kendall Daniels, the
21:32rookie for the Falcons.
21:34Declan Doyle is the offensive
21:36coordinator for this Atlanta team.
21:37Youngest coordinator in the NFL at
21:4030 years old.
21:41You've watched this offense now.
21:42Is it drastically different?
21:44Slight adjustment?
21:45What do you feel for it?
21:46Yeah, and I feel like the personnel
21:49has changed a little bit as well.
21:51You know, no Patrick Ricard.
21:53No Isaiah Likely.
21:55Some of the big fullbacks, big tight
21:56ends.
21:58Derms might not available.
21:59So some of the power stuff, not
22:02nearly as much and a little bit
22:04more of the razzle-dazzle that we
22:06see.
22:08Justice Hill getting to the outside.
22:10Good cut up the field.
22:11He trips.
22:12It comes down right around midfield.
22:14He had more room to run.
22:16Some of that razzle-dazzle comes
22:17from Doyle's pedigree as he was in
22:19Chicago over the last season as the
22:22offensive coordinator there with the Bears.
22:24Yeah, and you definitely are going to
22:25get a little bit of that, right?
22:27Sean Payton, one of the guys that
22:29developed him.
22:29Ben Johnson, the other.
22:31So a very creative mind.
22:33He's going to want to show it off a
22:35bit.
22:36But the Atlanta Falcons, this has
22:37kind of been the way their year has
22:39gone.
22:40It's not always pretty, but they tend
22:42to make plays like this one right
22:44here that they're going to need.
22:46Rosengarten back in at right tackle.
22:48Third and five.
22:49Hill.
22:49Nowhere to go.
22:52Brandon Gorlis inside helping to
22:53make the play.
22:55I mean, it really is sort of nameless,
22:58faceless on a lot of fronts, but they
23:01have a lot of guys, and Dorlis is the
23:03one here that's going to be able to
23:04make the spin and the move.
23:06And this is a guy that had eight and a
23:08half sacks a season ago, so a lot of
23:10quickness inside.
23:12And you see it across the board.
23:14Bilcom is one of the guys, Mason
23:16Smith, Cameron Thomas, Javon Dexter.
23:19They have good athletes in there, but
23:21it is, it has been, that was an
23:25impressive stop.
23:25Let's give them credit.
23:27The puncher out of Michigan State,
23:28Ryan Eckley kicked it.
23:30It was fair caught back around the
23:3111-yard line by Alameda Zaccheaus.
23:34I think for the Falcons, we'll take
23:36over.
23:37The soggy weekend finally dried out
23:38here in Atlanta.
23:39Their home team's up four.
23:44A couple of neat stories tonight.
23:46Veterans in the league, Jake
23:47Matthews on the left, the Atlanta
23:48tackle, his 200th consecutive start,
23:51even playing through a little bit of
23:53a groin injury from last week.
23:55And on the right side, Baltimore's
23:56defensive lineman, used to be a
23:57Falcon, Calais Campbell, age 40.
24:00This is game number 283 as a
24:02defensive lineman.
24:03It's the most games played by a
24:05defensive lineman in the history of
24:07the NFL.
24:08Passing Jim Marshall with his play
24:10here tonight.
24:11Extraordinary stuff.
24:12Those are stories he could tell.
24:17Simeline for the moment.
24:18Matthews.
24:20Sixth pick all the way back in 2014.
24:22Out there protecting and blocking
24:24for Bijan Robinson who cuts up the
24:26middle.
24:26And Robinson on the run to the
24:2932-yard line.
24:30Gain of 20.
24:31First big hit for Bijan tonight.
24:34And you know, Mike, you sit around
24:36and you wait for big plays in an
24:37offense.
24:38But the big plays in this offense
24:41come from their running game.
24:43And so many times people want to
24:45overplay that outside zone.
24:46They run that play maybe 55, 56% of the
24:50time.
24:50But Bijan with that patience, able to
24:52cut back.
24:53And then the first on this guy has
24:55been spectacular.
24:56Thank you.
25:01After the Falcons' first first down of the
25:03night, right back to him.
25:05Makes a man miss.
25:06Matabike up front.
25:07Gained a three.
25:08Here is the rest of the Baltimore
25:09defense.
25:10Nambi Matabike.
25:11Texas A&M.
25:12Travis Jones, UConn.
25:14Calais Campbell.
25:15The U.
25:15Mike Green.
25:16Marshall.
25:17Trent Simpson.
25:18Clemson.
25:19Brooke Warren Smith.
25:20LBU.
25:21Georgia.
25:21Marlon Humphrey.
25:23Alabama.
25:23Kyle Hamilton.
25:24Notre Dame.
25:25Jalen Harden's.
25:26Carroll.
25:27Malachi Starks.
25:28Georgia.
25:28Nate Wiggins.
25:29Clemson.
25:30See all those Georgia natives in the
25:32secondary.
25:33No Trey Hendrickson, top pass rusher
25:34on this team.
25:36Former Bengal missing his second game
25:38after finger surgery.
25:40Second and seven.
25:41Hamilton nosing around the line.
25:43Panics.
25:43Nothing open with London.
25:45Got rid of it.
25:46Incomplete.
25:47To the sideline.
25:48Melissa.
25:49Mike, you mentioned Jake Matthews'
25:51streak was in question this week.
25:52He was dealing with that groin injury.
25:54When I talked to him pregame, though,
25:55he said he was good to go.
25:57He is not the only Ironman in his family.
25:59How about this list?
26:01His Hall of Fame father, uncle, cousin,
26:03and grandfather.
26:04I asked him how he's been able to do it.
26:06He said, I'd love to say, I have it all figured out,
26:08but I'm just blessed with a body that can take a beating
26:11and recover quickly.
26:12And he said, it's really cool because my dad was the same way.
26:16Amazing family.
26:17Uncle Clay Jr.
26:18Saw him in a brown uniform.
26:19He also played for the Falcons for three years
26:21at the end of his career as well.
26:22Third and seven, Matthews protecting Pennix,
26:25who's scrambling on the run.
26:27Doesn't do this much.
26:28Then gets hit right around the 40.
26:31Kyle Hamilton, 14 in white and purple,
26:33shows up everywhere on this Baltimore defense
26:37and ends the Atlanta drive.
26:40When Michael Pennix can get back and sit there
26:43like a Joe Montana, hit that back foot,
26:46throw the ball, great things happen.
26:47If defensively, you can take away this first look,
26:52whatever his first look,
26:53see when he pulls that ball back
26:55because he can't really run.
26:56He's had all the knee surgeries.
26:58He's had the physical issues.
26:59And you could tell that really wasn't
27:02what he wanted to be doing there.
27:05Jake Bailey kicks to Lajonte Wester.
27:11Pitch, 48 yards.
27:14It's tough to catch.
27:14That wind is a little bit of a factor
27:17as that one was brought in by Wester.
27:20Ravens will take over right around their own 10.
27:22We're back in 30 seconds.
27:23After this, from AWS.
27:28Got that halo board inside the retractable pinwheel roof.
27:32Last time the roof was open here
27:34at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, week 11 last year.
27:38So far, Baltimore has controlled the game.
27:41Falcons come up with the turnover for six.
27:44And they are on top 7-3.
27:52They'll snap back to Huntley.
27:54Jumps in the middle.
27:55Goes into Zay Flowers.
27:57Stumbling down there at the 20,
27:59getting of about six.
28:02Zay Flowers in this offense,
28:04they have a way, Mike,
28:06of getting him inside as that slot receiver
28:09and letting him work on linebackers or nickelbacks.
28:13Very seldom do they have him matched up
28:15against the primary corners on the outside.
28:18So you'll see a lot of motion
28:20or other people motioning away.
28:22Whatever it takes to make number four
28:23the inside receiver
28:25and work on some of those lesser defenders.
28:30He's the motion man now
28:32as Henry gets it the other way.
28:34Run of two.
28:35Instead of third and a couple.
28:37Melissa?
28:37Mike Zay Flowers told me right now
28:39he's having the most fun playing football
28:41since his days at Boston College.
28:42Why?
28:43Because new offensive coordinator,
28:45Declan Doyle, moves him everywhere around the field.
28:47Zay said,
28:48you never know where I'll line up
28:50or what I'll do next.
28:51And he said,
28:52Zach has so much energy,
28:53makes sure everyone is always fired up.
28:55Even goes around asking guys,
28:57who invented electricity?
28:59The answer?
29:00The 2026 Ravens.
29:03It's a time around Ben Johnson's got that energy, too.
29:06Third and a couple.
29:06This pass is caught.
29:07Let's see if the forward progress is marked
29:09on the catch by Devontae Walker.
29:11It is past the 24.
29:12That's enough for the first down.
29:14You see the signal.
29:16Walter Flowers, the line judge,
29:18to move the chains.
29:21And neither one of these offenses
29:23have really been able to stretch it down
29:25to feel good call, though.
29:26Clearly,
29:27was beyond Devontae Walker,
29:29the speed element on this offense,
29:31but
29:32time held on.
29:34Caught it.
29:35We're contacted.
29:36Forward progress there.
29:37Throw it right down on the 24.
29:38And the Ravens
29:39have their sixth first down
29:41to this opening quarter
29:42compared to just one
29:44for the home team.
29:47And he's in motion.
29:49Henry running up the middle.
29:50It feels like that is there
29:51all night already.
29:53For Henry.
29:55He's got 49 yards
29:56in this opening quarter.
29:59Yeah.
30:00When they can get a double team
30:02and they can get any kind
30:03of movement inside,
30:05it's a great thing
30:05about this Ravens running game
30:07that I always enjoy watching
30:09is that they're,
30:11for the most part,
30:11those outside zone
30:12and wide plays
30:13and let Derrick Henry cut back.
30:15But they also have the beef inside
30:18to just take it
30:19and move people.
30:20And then, of course,
30:20you've got quarterbacks here
30:22that can keep it themselves.
30:24Try the hard count.
30:25Almost got a little lean there,
30:27but everybody stays on their side.
30:29And we've hit the end
30:30of the first quarter.
30:31Big play for the Falcons.
30:32Defense has Atlanta up 7-3.
30:35Sunday Night Football continues
30:37after these messages.
30:43Tonight's SNF sites
30:45are provided by Nationwide.
30:48And Plains, Georgia,
30:4939th President of the United States.
30:51Jimmy Carter is President's
30:52Library and Museum
30:54right here in Atlanta.
30:57Oval Office circa the Carter days.
30:59The President from 77 to 81.
31:04And back here inside,
31:06the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
31:09The Mercedes-Benz Stadium,
31:10I should say.
31:11Second quarter,
31:12Mike Tirico,
31:12Chris Collinsworth,
31:13Melissa Stark down the sideline.
31:157-3.
31:16Falcons on top
31:17by virtue of the fumble return
31:19in the opening quarter.
31:22Derek Henry.
31:23Already more yards for Henry
31:25than the Falcons gave up
31:26per game
31:27in their first four.
31:29And it's been coming
31:30pretty easily thus far.
31:32Yeah, and the good news
31:33for the Ravens fans,
31:34Roger Rosengarten
31:35back in at that tackle position.
31:37And they are going to work
31:39there as well.
31:40So, a lot of work
31:41with these tight ends.
31:42It doesn't have the same
31:44big-bodied guys
31:45that the Ravens
31:47have had in the past.
31:47But some new tight ends,
31:49Mark Andrews,
31:50who has been here forever,
31:52Matthew Hibner,
31:52Josh Cuevas.
31:54And those guys are starting
31:56to fit right into this
31:57run game now.
31:58The rookie Hibner
31:59entered his hand
32:00in the first quarter,
32:01and he is questionable
32:02to return.
32:03So, we'll keep an eye
32:03on his status.
32:05Meantime, the movement
32:05up front.
32:06Let's see who got caught.
32:17Neutral zone infraction.
32:19Defense, no tackle.
32:20Five-yard penalty.
32:22First down.
32:24Mason Smith up inside there.
32:26The third-year man
32:27out of LSU.
32:28Good athlete.
32:29He's got ten pressures
32:31as well.
32:32They have six guys
32:33with ten pressures.
32:34And Rosencard
32:35hasn't lost any
32:37reaction time.
32:38He might have won
32:39100 meters there.
32:41You mentioned, Chris,
32:42a bunch of guys
32:43from different places
32:44in this Falcon defense.
32:45Smith was with Jacksonville.
32:47Cameron Thomas
32:48was drafted by Arizona
32:50with several teams.
32:51Devon Dexter trade
32:52came over from the Bears.
32:54They have put pieces together
32:57so far.
32:58First and five.
32:59Hundley.
32:59Tries to step up.
33:01Red shirts are waiting.
33:03And rookie Kendall Daniels
33:04been around the ball
33:04a lot tonight.
33:06Joins LaCale London
33:07on the stop.
33:09Yeah, it's an interesting
33:10linebacker situation
33:11for this Atlanta Falcons team.
33:14It really is.
33:14They've got Kendall Daniels,
33:16one of the rookies.
33:17He was drafted
33:18in the fourth round.
33:19And he is much more
33:20the every down
33:21kind of player
33:22and probably going to play
33:23a lot tonight
33:23because of the running
33:25of Derrick Henry.
33:26but they also have
33:27a linebacker named
33:28Harold Perkins
33:28who runs a 4-3 something.
33:31So a very fast
33:32but a lot smaller guy
33:34but they rotate
33:35those guys in
33:36on pass run situations.
33:39Second and five.
33:40Henry.
33:41And Divine Diablo,
33:43the veteran steady presence
33:45of the linebacking court.
33:47stops it after a game
33:48of a couple.
33:49He should be third
33:50and we'll call it three.
33:52Yeah, and I think that
33:54the Atlanta Falcons
33:55have had enough
33:56of just letting people
33:57run over them.
33:58This is a team
33:58that does a lot of blitzing.
34:00They do a lot of stunts.
34:02They're very creative
34:03on what they're able to do.
34:05So I think that
34:06they know now
34:08we're not going to just line up
34:09and stop Derrick Henry, right?
34:11Let's go to work.
34:12Let's get on the move here.
34:13And so far,
34:14that's been the formula.
34:17You see Diablo
34:20calls the signals
34:21on this defense.
34:22Third and three.
34:24Bring in five
34:24incomplete Flowers
34:27with Mike Hughes
34:29working.
34:30Zay couldn't bring it in.
34:31And the Ravens
34:32will have to punch it away.
34:35That is something
34:36we have not seen
34:37very much of at all
34:38out of Zay Flowers.
34:39Tremendous route.
34:40You can see Divine Diablo
34:42coming in on another
34:43one of those stunts
34:44another one of those blitzes.
34:46That was a first down
34:48and so far
34:49the Atlanta Falcons
34:51kind of just hanging in there.
34:58Rookie Eckley.
35:00Lombo Zaccheaus
35:01back down there waiting.
35:09The whole play clock.
35:12Nobody jumped.
35:13Delay a game.
35:15Offense.
35:15Five-yard penalty.
35:17Fourth down.
35:18Worth a shot.
35:19See if we can get that
35:21free first down.
35:23Saw a man in motion.
35:24There is Eckley.
35:25Six-round pick out of
35:26Michigan State.
35:27One of the two punters
35:28drafted this year.
35:30Big ten punter of the year
35:31for the Spartans
35:32season to go.
35:37The experienced return man
35:38Zaccheaus usually as a home team
35:39you understand wind patterns
35:41in your own stadium.
35:42But they don't have the roof
35:43open very often.
35:44So it's not like
35:45they've got a great read on it.
35:48Space here for Zaccheaus
35:50from the five.
35:51A couple of blocks here.
35:53Upfield.
35:54Flag is down.
35:54Well away from the play
35:56on the opposite side
35:57as he's down
35:59at the 17-yard line
36:00is where they will mark it.
36:03Well covered.
36:04The snapper.
36:05Nick Moore back in Georgia.
36:06Another one with local roots.
36:09Played his college football
36:11between the hedges and Athens.
36:14We kind of talked to Nick
36:15as we were walking on the field
36:16before the game.
36:17He said it's been an interesting
36:18day for the long snappers.
36:19Yeah, long snappers
36:20in the news today.
36:21That's right.
36:21Saw everything that happened
36:23in the Jacksonville-Philly game
36:24in London.
36:25Nick makes a play
36:26and it comes back home.
36:27During the kick.
36:28Holding.
36:29Receiving team.
36:31Ten-yard penalty
36:32from the end of the kick.
36:33It's first down.
36:35Atlanta.
36:36Timeout.
36:37You mentioned Nick Moore.
36:38Georgia Bulldog.
36:39I give the Yellow Jackets
36:40an illegal time.
36:41Oldest stadium in the FBS.
36:44Bobby Dodd Stadium
36:45right on the edge
36:46of downtown Atlanta.
36:47Home of Georgia Tech.
36:50This look at the Falcons
36:52offense is brought to you
36:53by American Express.
36:55So the varsity
36:56famous food joint
36:58here in Atlanta.
36:59It was junior varsity
37:00for the Falcons offense
37:01the first two games.
37:02No Michael Penix.
37:03Only 16 points
37:04in total
37:05in those two games.
37:06Then the Chili Dogs
37:07start showing up.
37:08The good stuff.
37:0980 points
37:10the last two games.
37:11A couple of road victories
37:12for the Falcons.
37:13and Michael Penix Jr.
37:15serving it up.
37:16459 yards per game.
37:18Only one turnover.
37:19Really energized.
37:21Big stars they have
37:23on this team.
37:23Brian Robinson Jr.
37:25is the running back
37:25to start this drive
37:27from their own three.
37:28Some power to him.
37:30Only a couple of yards.
37:31If that.
37:32Bijan is the star.
37:33Brian Robinson.
37:34Terrific compliment
37:35in that backfield.
37:37He is.
37:38And he's much more
37:39the power kind of runner.
37:40You'll see him
37:41trying to establish
37:42something inside.
37:42Makes sense.
37:43Down here coming
37:44off the goal line.
37:45But really what
37:46the Atlanta Falcons
37:47need to do
37:48is establish anything
37:50in the passing game.
37:51They just need
37:52to hit something.
37:53Because right now
37:54the Ravens are all
37:55over this defensive line
37:57and just moving forward.
37:59They just know
37:59where to run.
38:01Eight plays.
38:02Three of them passes.
38:03Penix is 0 for 3.
38:06Right back to Robinson.
38:08Right.
38:09That is to the left.
38:11Two or three.
38:12More Roquan Smith
38:13over there for the tackle.
38:14Heartbeat of that defense.
38:16Four-time pro bowler.
38:17Two-time all pro.
38:19At every level.
38:20Matt Abike on the line.
38:22Roquan Smith linebacker.
38:23Hamilton the secondary.
38:24Making it harder.
38:25This Atlanta offense.
38:26Yeah.
38:27Nominee.
38:27Matt Abike right now
38:28is the guy number 92
38:30right there.
38:31That typically is the nightmare
38:33to try to block one-on-one.
38:34Everything the Falcons will do
38:36is be to make sure that
38:38a couple of bodies on him.
38:40Don't let him have that
38:41one-on-one pass rush opportunity.
38:43But they are loaded up there now.
38:493-5.
38:51Ravens changed the look
38:53and nothing.
38:53London over there.
38:54Roquan Smith was buzzing over.
38:57Penix got rid of it.
38:59And with 10 minutes left
39:00in the second quarter,
39:01Atlanta's run 10 plays
39:02and only has one first down.
39:05Yeah.
39:05And this is not the Michael Penix
39:07that we've seen.
39:07But you'll see.
39:08They've got everybody loaded up
39:10and bringing immediate pressure.
39:12He saw it.
39:13Caught it.
39:14Didn't want to take any chances.
39:16Snaps a little rough here.
39:17But didn't make the catch.
39:19But so far,
39:20nothing to talk this Ravens defense
39:23out of playing the run.
39:24We'll take Jake Bailey.
39:2656 yards.
39:28Dancing is LeJounte Wester
39:31across the 45
39:32to the 46-yard line.
39:34Best field position
39:35of the night for Baltimore.
39:37All right.
39:38The Atlanta Falcons
39:39so far on the defensive side.
39:41That was a big one.
39:42Mike Hughes making that tackle
39:44and ultimately held him
39:45to a field goal there.
39:46And they came up
39:47with a sack from Jared Ivey.
39:49That was a monster play.
39:51And then here came the turnover
39:53and touchdown.
39:54Brilliant play done
39:56by Sidney Brown
39:57to get it out.
39:57Jesse Bates scored it.
39:59And that has pretty much
40:01been the story
40:02of this game so far
40:03for the Atlanta Falcons
40:05that their defense
40:06is hanging in there
40:07pretty tough.
40:09And they're waiting
40:09on the offense
40:10to get it going.
40:15From the 47,
40:16Ravens begin at Huntley.
40:18Wide open space.
40:19Josh Wevis
40:21into Falcon territory
40:22inside the 40.
40:23A mark of around
40:24the 37-yard line.
40:26Second catch
40:27of the rookie season
40:29for the fifth-round pick
40:30out of Alabama.
40:31And the Ravens
40:32do so much stuff
40:33with their tight ends
40:34blocking,
40:35in particular,
40:36in the run game.
40:37And now they're going to
40:38accelerate the pace here a bit.
40:54There's a game to try in the
41:0818-yard line.
41:10Here we go.
