00:00As you know, the radical left communists hate Columbus and they want to abolish Columbus Day.
00:06They call him Mohammed Al-Fayyad.
00:08Some people call him Abdul. I call him Mohammed.
00:11Somebody said, why? I said, I don't know. I feel like it.
00:13I would love to tell you that I fight every day to keep that statue there, but nobody ever, all
00:19they do is say, I love that statue.
00:22So, but I shouldn't do that. I'd make it too easy.
00:25But it's true. We're very proud to have it.
00:27But I've had more people comment the other way.
00:30No people the bad way.
00:32By the way, four or five years ago it would have been maybe different.
00:37But they say, thank you so much for putting that statue there.
00:41No, he's been rehabbed 100 percent.
00:46And he's been resurrected in the true sense.
00:49And he's a great, he's back to where he should be.
00:52And that was a great affront to the Itlo-American and the Italian community.
00:58But the Itlo-American community was incensed and nobody did anything for them.
01:03And they realized what we all did.
01:05We did it.
01:05This room, largely this room, did it.
01:07But American patriots have always revered and respected this great Italian explorer, perhaps the first ever Italian-American.
01:16If you look at it, probably he was the first Italian-American.
01:21Early settlers called the 13 colonies Colombia.
01:25And eventually we named the District of Colombia in his honor.
01:31And that, there's a lot of people who don't put them together, but that's how it all happened.
01:35Yet, as you know, the radical left communists hate Columbus and they want to abolish Columbus Day.
01:42They're still trying very hard.
01:43You know this guy, I call him Mohammed Al-Fayed.
01:47Some people call him Abdul.
01:49I call him Mohammed.
01:50Somebody said, why?
01:51I said, I don't know.
01:52I feel like it.
01:54But he wants to abolish Columbus Day.
01:57He wants to, no reference to, can you believe it?
02:02So, we have people that, these lunatics that are running, they're all against Christopher Columbus.
02:09But I'll tell you what, we're going to be here almost two and a half years.
02:12He's going to be so, he's going to be so protected like nobody's ever been protected before.
02:17Or, because they want to tear down the history and heritage that makes us who we are.
02:23Not only Columbus.
02:24I mean, we had a time when they wanted to rip down the statue of Abraham Lincoln.
02:28That was about the end.
02:29That was when I said, now we've had pay dirt, you know.
02:32They wanted to, because they thought he was a racist.
02:34But he's the one that freed the country.
02:37He's the one, when you talk slavery, you talk about Lincoln, the job he did.
02:44George Washington, they've taken the name of George Washington off schools.
02:48Many schools, they Washington, George Washington High.
02:51They take the name of George Washington off.
02:54But these are different days now.
02:56Now, we don't do that anymore.
02:58We do that, you go, you get your, yourself in big trouble, you play those games.
03:02So, we protect Lincoln, we protect Washington, we protect Thomas Jefferson.
03:08They wanted to rip down Thomas Jefferson's memorial.
03:11I was there, actually, and I signed a law that was a very powerful law.
03:15It was in 1900 when we had really strong laws.
03:18You know, today, if you get two days in jail, today you can do almost anything, nothing happens.
03:24But we're changing that.
03:25You see that.
03:26In fact, we're giving a man the death penalty who killed 14 soldiers a couple of years ago.
03:36Death penalty through firing squad.
03:39And he deserves it.
03:41Killed and wounded many, many people.
03:42A maniac.
03:43And you probably saw that.
03:45But, no, we have things going.
03:47But they were going to rip down the statue of the whole thing.
03:50The beautiful, you know, one of the three greatest in terms of monuments.
03:55And they were marching over there.
03:57And somebody said, sir, in around 1900, we had a law that it views so much as touch any monument
04:05in Washington, C.C., but any federal monument.
04:08You go to jail for 10 years.
04:12No probation.
04:13No early release.
04:14Like, you're getting 10 years, you can go home next week.
04:17It's 10 years, you're not allowed.
04:18I say, you've got to be kidding me.
04:20Where's this law?
04:21I want to see this law, Chris Wright.
04:23Christopher Wright, I want to see this law.
04:26Use something like that in the oil industry.
04:29And they brought it in.
04:30It was an old, I think it was maybe never even used.
04:34It was so harsh.
04:35But I took it.
04:37I waved it up in the air.
04:39People were getting very frisky.
04:42They had on, right alongside of us, a beautiful statue of great people that had ropes around
04:49the neck.
04:50They were getting ready to pull it down.
04:53And Jackson, it was Andrew Jackson.
04:55And I said, these people are crazy.
04:57So I invoked the law.
04:59I then got up and spoke right here.
05:01I said, ladies and gentlemen, anybody, I've just invoked this law from, like, 1901.
05:08And it was basically the Monuments Acts, to save the Monuments Acts.
05:13And 10 years in jail, I said, anybody that so much as touches a monument is going to jail
05:19for 10 years.
05:20Everybody just, it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
05:23They all turned around and left the city.
05:27And I saw thousands of backs.
05:30I didn't see any faces.
05:31They just left.
05:33And it's what we need.
05:35We need law and order.
05:38And we are doing great.
05:40You know, Washington now went from one of the most unsafe cities in the country, probably
05:44in the world, to a totally safe city now.
05:47It's considered one of the safest cities.
05:48We did that, and when I came in, they were having murders approximately three a week.
05:55Can you believe our nation's capital?
05:57Kids would come in from Iowa to watch, look at the Washington Monument or the Lincoln Memorial,
06:03and they'd be killed.
06:06They'd die.
06:07They'd be shot.
06:08They'd be mugged.
06:09If they had a car, their car would be taken away.
06:12They'd be beat to hell.
06:14But we're losing three, and I came in, and I heard about it.
06:18People were afraid to walk to the White House.
06:20Young ladies and men, they were afraid they couldn't walk to the White House.
06:24They'd take Uber, and they'd be robbed in the Uber.
06:26That was no guarantee, because they'd say, get over, you know, they'd steal the Ubers.
06:30It was terrible.
06:32And now it's the exact opposite.
06:34We have a totally safe city.
06:37You can walk to the White House.
06:38I get it all the time.
06:39Young ladies saying, thank you so much, sir.
06:41And I don't even have to ask them.
06:43I know exactly what they're talking about.
06:45What they're talking about is this city is really safe.
06:48So we went, crime is down 87%.
06:51Think of that.
06:52And we're not, we'll have it down almost.
