Chaos at T1, tyre pressure drama and a new Championship leader! 😲
Transcript
00:00It is light out and we're racing in the sprint end here in Mandelica.
00:04It looks like a really good start from that maiden pole position for Ralph Fernandes,
00:07but Marco Betsecki's got an even better start, trying to be aggressive through the two.
00:11Look at Marquez.
00:11Oh, Marco Marquez squeezed in the middle.
00:14Fabio the Gian Antonio.
00:15Oh, two of Prullis are down.
00:18Oh, drama, high, high drama from pole position.
00:22Ralph Fernandes and second on the grid, Marco Betsecki, are out at the very first corner.
00:28And to what extent was all of that caused by Dijan Antonio and Marc Marquez piling up the inside of
00:34them?
00:34They were going four wide into the first quarter.
00:36And of course, the two of Prullis were on the dirty outside line.
00:39And now they went, it's Jorge Martin who leads the sprint.
00:45Here is then the start.
00:47Marc Marquez was awesome away, wasn't he, from fourth place on the grid.
00:50Look at this Marc going for a precious little gap there.
00:53He just darts to the inside, goes in between Dijan Antonio and Betsecki.
00:56And then what happens thereafter?
00:57Yeah, they just have their own separate accident.
00:59Yeah, Marc has a bit of a win.
01:00Marc Marquez checks up and that in turn leads to a bit of a chain reaction as the Aprilia's checkup
01:04behind him.
01:05I don't think there was any foul play there at all.
01:07Just the Aprilia's having to check up on that dirty outside line and down they went.
01:14Jorge Martin hasn't got this completely.
01:16Sorry, in fact, he's lost the lead.
01:17Look, Marc Marquez has taken the lead from Jorge Martin.
01:20Something went wrong for the world championship leader in that first sector.
01:24And if you put the flag out now, Marc Marquez will be the world championship leader.
01:27Well, I just said, having worked so, so hard to build a 1.5 second lead, expect the unexpected.
01:33More drama potentially coming.
01:34And it has come here in Mandelica.
01:36What here has happened to Jorge Martin?
01:38Well, I saw him looking around.
01:40Has he got tire pressure issues?
01:41Look, he has a good look at Marc Marquez.
01:43Yeah, he's waiting.
01:43And drops it behind him.
01:44So has that front tire pressure.
01:45Just got to be qualified fifth.
01:47Jorge Martin, the last thing he would have been expected is to have no traffic ahead of him.
01:50Yeah, I mean, is that an issue?
01:52Of course, the minimum tire pressure in MotoGP is 1.8 bar.
01:57You have to be above that for 30% of the laps in the spring.
02:00Now, has he got a warning light?
02:02All these MotoGP bikes will be equipped with a warning light to say
02:05that you need to get hot air on that front tire.
02:11It is still Marc Marquez, now world champion leader.
02:14That leads Martin Agoura and Digido coming into play.
02:18And Martin, of course, he'll be having the information he needs on his dashboard.
02:22If it is indeed tire pressure, it feels like it can't be anything else at this stage
02:26to satisfy the required number of laps that he's within the tire pressure parameters.
02:30If he satisfies that at the end of this lap,
02:33then he does potentially still have one more lap to have a go at Marc Marquez.
02:36But how much risk is he prepared to take from here,
02:39given what's on the line and given what his teammates already lost today?
02:43To lose the world championship.
02:44Oh, he's wide.
02:45He's wide.
02:45Well, this happened on the previous lap.
02:47Saw it on the previous lap.
02:48He got in really, really hot.
02:49So from a 1.5 second lead in this sprint,
02:52Jorge Martin isn't even going to potentially finish on the podium.
02:55Late, late drama.
02:58What a swing in the pendulum here unfolding in Lombok.
03:02Marc Marquez now will be four points clear.
03:06Going into tomorrow's main Grand Prix, Ducati striking gold.
03:12Aprilia's hearts are sinking.
03:14He has already won 22 sprints in his Grand Prix career.
03:20He has already taken seven sprint wins so far in 2026.
03:26On course for sprint win number eight so far this season.
03:30And what a massive, massive victory this will be for the world championship.
03:36Two Aprilia's out of contention from the first two places on the grid on the very first corner on lap
03:43one.
03:44Down and out went Ralph Hernandez and Marco Betsechi.
03:47Looked like a pretty good salvage there Saturday as Jorge Martin streaked away at the front.
03:52A 1.5 second lead when he had to roll out of it.
03:55Surely with front tire pressure issues.
03:58But handling the pressure at the top of the world championship quite brilliantly as you knew he would do.
04:04It is the reigning world champion Marc Marquez who breaks his Mandelika jinx.
04:09He shatters his Mandelika curse.
04:11He's victorious here then in the sprint in Indonesia.
04:16How crucial could that victory be?
04:18First time in 2026.
04:20You are now looking at your outright world championship leader Marc Marquez.
04:28Wow, just wow.
04:33But he has struck gold today as Marc Marquez going to the limit of his physical reserves.
04:40His reward on a day of Mandelika pandemonium is the world championship lead.
05:12Soing is what we should have been doing.
05:13Wow, just wow.
