00:30Then the two ahead of him, Mark Marquez and Jorge Martin.
00:33Slim hopes, I think, Lewis for his title chances,
00:36but you feel that this is a massive spell in the championship.
00:39He was awesome here in Mandelica last year,
00:41didn't get the job done on Sunday.
00:43We know how frightening fast he was in Fulip Island as well.
00:46So you feel if Bez is going to figure probably
00:48in the final outcome of this year's world title
00:51this weekend in Mandelica, next time out in Fulip Island,
00:54he's going to have to get back.
00:55Indeed, Luka Marini, not the only person
00:57talking up the chances of Aprilia yesterday.
01:00Pedro Acosta said that Marco Veccechi's pace last year was scary.
01:04Mark Marquez says that he expects the Aprilia
01:07to be a class apart this weekend.
01:09So simply put, Paolo, Aprilia have to win this weekend, right?
01:17This is the goal.
01:18We've got all the races that we have already done, for sure.
01:23To be honest, to be very pragmatic, we love this track.
01:29But I think it is more related to the approach of our riders on this track.
01:36Yeah, I'm sure it is a fluent track layout.
01:41Last year, we did quite a good job.
01:44Yeah, at the end, on the longer distance race,
01:48we didn't achieve both of them can do something very good.
01:53I don't want to see, to be polite with you,
01:57what the result is, but you are smart enough to understand.
02:01But, yeah, mathematically, they are fighting both for the championship.
02:05It is 49 points, I think, the gap between him and Mark.
02:12So at the moment, part of the season, where something happened,
02:17and to avoid this, we thought that it was already clear, the message.
02:22I think that everybody are smart enough, as you,
02:27to understand that all the four riders can come.
02:34And understand what's at stake here.
02:36It would be interesting to see just what point,
02:40and indeed, what response Aprilea gets.
02:42Surely, Ayagura and Ralph Fernandes,
02:44particularly Ralph Fernandes, who's staying at track as next season,
02:46will be more than happy to follow that instruction.
02:49Because Aprilea know that they may not get an opportunity,
02:52as good as this again,
02:53to beat Marc Marquez and Ducati to a world championship.
02:57Liding third in the sprint,
02:58and then being probably one lap away from a podium in the Grand Prix.
03:02Have you ever had a rider be so unfortunate
03:06not to get at least one podium during a weekend?
03:08It was a brilliant effort from Ineo,
03:10but sadly, nothing to show for him.
03:13Yeah, no, it's true.
03:14In the end, we've missed both podiums.
03:17But I want to keep the positive of that situation.
03:19I mean, any...
03:20First time in the sprint.
03:22Very, very good memory.
03:23There's actually a Mandelica for Barrera.
03:25He won the 2023 Moto3 race from pole position.
03:28That was his career first victory.
03:30He's only an actual win as a Moto3 rider,
03:33and a crucial victory here in Moto2 here last year,
03:37also from pole position.
03:39This is one of the big overtaking spots around the circuit here.
03:41As Benseki about to take top spot in this session on a 1.30.1,
03:45he does four tenths clear of Ralph Fernandes.
03:48If you stray off line here at this Mandelica circuit
03:50and get off the racing line,
03:52and Ayagura has now become our second baller of the weekend.
03:56He's down at the fast sweepers of 7, 8, and 9,
03:59where, of course, we saw Benseki and Marc Marquez clash last year.
04:02But if you go an inch off that narrow racing line where the rubber's been laid down,
04:07this track can really catch you out.
04:12And that is this track catching out Ayagura on that real rapid fast chain direction.
04:18It's a big one.
04:18There's fourth gear through here.
04:24Yeah, all the way through when you snake through turn 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
04:29It's all super fast.
04:31And just finally on Alex, it's been a difficult couple of weekends.
04:35Austria didn't go to plan a couple of crashes in Japan.
04:38And actually, I think Fermin Aldergera has just gone down out on track.
04:42Up on his feet and OK.
04:43Turn one for Fermin.
04:44So he is OK, Maseeli.
04:46Just very quickly, on Alex.
04:48Has he just lost that feeling, lost his way over so slightly over the past couple of weekends?
04:54And how important is this one for him to try and get back on track?
04:58Yeah, it's true that the last two GP was not the best for him and for us.
05:04Of course, a couple of bad circumstances, bad luck, and some little mistakes.
05:09This isn't the same rear tyre that they ran in Mettegi.
05:12It's another version of it.
05:13And it's a version that Ducati haven't particularly fared well on when they've run it this year.
05:19It was this entire in Thailand and Brazil here on this year.
05:22Marco Vesecki was untouchable.
05:24He ran away with the Sunday Grand Prix.
05:28A little bit further back here.
05:30This is Banyarin.
05:31It's Razgatlioglu.
05:32That was a scary one, wasn't it, for Beko?
05:34On the gravel there at high speeds.
05:36And he's going to be angry.
05:38Let's have a listen up to this one.
05:39Pff!
05:45Through Turn 12 there.
05:46Third gear you're motoring through there.
05:48At just over 130 kilometers an hour.
05:51Letting top-ranked Razgatlioglu know exactly what he thinks of him cruising online.
05:56Yeah, around about 160km, 100 miles an hour, when Banyarin had to take avoiding action and went over to the
06:04right-hand side.
06:04Just had to make a quick reaction.
06:06Just down the years, will notch 300 Grand Prix starts here this weekend.
06:11So congratulations to that quartet on incoming career milestones.
06:17Yeah, and will Marc Marquez be able to mark it by finally finishing the Indonesian Grand Prix?
06:22Happy fifth time of asking.
06:24Update on the world champion.
06:25Just if you're interested in where he is, he's eighth at the moment in this session.
06:30Yet to do a lap in the 130s.
06:32He's just under nine-tenths of a second off the pace.
06:35And, of course, Marc Marquez will never go into any Grand Prix weekend.
06:38The home Grand Prix for the water factory was another pretty painful experience.
06:42The Amars are going half-decent so far this morning, though, in fairness to them.
06:46And we've got Alex Rins, who's on screen now, getting a face full of Pedro Acosta now.
06:52As Alex Rins is already making a signal there, I think, to the team there.
06:55We're watching him on the screens to tell him that he's coming into the pits.
06:59Rins up in seventh place at the moment.
07:01Of course, he's to forget.
07:02And all the mayhem we had here last year, at one stage, Alex Rins was running as high as P2
07:06before his soft rear tyre turned to mush in the latter stages.
07:10And he fell out.
07:11The contention as Peko Banyarin nearly falls altogether there.
07:14The front end tucking underneath Banyarin there to the left-hander of turn three.
07:20And Banyarin needing all of his cat-like reflexes to keep this one on its rubber.
07:24It looked like he just clicked the kerb there.
07:25Maybe trying to squeeze a little bit too much space on the inside.
07:29You could just see there the left-hand side of that front tyre just on that kerb on the inside.
07:36Maybe just catching a little bit of groove there, a little bit of a lip.
07:38And, yeah, he's done well to stay sunny side up there.
07:41There's Peko going through that left-hander of turn three,
07:45which was a pretty dramatic pinch point in the Grand Prix a couple of years ago
07:49when Jack Miller, St. Alex Marquez, Alexis Fargo and Luka Marini
07:53are tumbling through the gravel trap.
07:56So still up right then is Banyarin.
07:58Still out there on his back to Nukati in 12th place.
08:02On board with the world champion who is improving at the moment
08:06on the same tyre as he started the session with,
08:09the medium option rear Michelin.
08:12Soft front tyre, though, for Mark Marquez.
08:15Race distance on Sunday, three o'clock local time for the Indonesian Grand Prix.
08:21He's 27 laps.
08:22Of course, 27 laps.
08:24Mark Marquez jets complete consecutively around this Mandur-Lika circuit.
08:28He's trying to cut the gap at the moment to the Aprilias up the sharp end,
08:31which are still one, two, and three.
08:34Mark is into the heart of this final sequence.
08:36So important to get that consecutive sequence of right-handers right,
08:39but then you need to be on the right-hand side
08:41to get your best run through the left of the final corner.
08:43The finish line is right on the exit of the final corner.
08:46So it does lend itself to Zouma late dives at the inside into turn 17.
08:52Mark Marquez unable to improve on his best so far this morning with a 30.7.
08:56I'm sure there's maybe a small mistake from Bez in that third sector
08:59because you can see on the graphics there
09:01he was absolutely flying through splits one and two,
09:05trying to hammer him what is already a rather considerable advantage
09:08in favour of the Italian.
09:09He now negotiates this tricky left-hander of turn 17.
09:14Harden the power, just look how low the Aprilia squats
09:18with the rear ride height device engaged.
09:20Over the line Bez goes, that was a 1.30.661.
09:24Second place at the moment because it's been a bit of a growing trend
09:27in recent races of Martine growing into the weekend.
09:31Perhaps under the radar a little bit on Fridays,
09:33but then all over the radar when we get to the business end
09:36of qualifying on a Saturday.
09:38So the fact that Martine's already up there in P2
09:40at a circuit of the course, as we mentioned,
09:42he's also won at before.
09:44I think the current World Championship leader
09:46will be pretty happy with life.
09:47Yeah, but Seki said last week, and I asked him
09:50post-race in Japan, what he feels like
09:52is that small difference right now
09:54between him, Jorge Martine, and Mark Marquez
09:56is in there, title fight.
09:59There's Bagnac there, you can just see, yeah,
10:01maybe just a little bit too much curve on the inside of three.
10:05A little listen.
10:08Second gear there, just under 90 kilometers an hour.
10:10Cat-like rapid reflexes to make sure he wasn't
10:14eating gravel on the outside.
10:17A bit frustrated there once again.
10:18Yeah, don't keep the screen intact, Eko.
10:21This just are signs of what has been
10:23a real frustrating 18 months or so, isn't it?
10:28Maybe it was, just him tucking the front
10:30going through that turn three.
10:31Yeah, just lucky on the telemetry there,
10:32it was just as he went that for that initial grab
10:34of gas of the throttle, the Ducati steps out of line
10:38and it looked like Bagnac was more angry with his bike
10:41than with himself there as he...
10:43Always sort of first, second or third
10:45in those opening sessions.
10:46He just feels like it's taken him
10:47with a bit of lost confidence,
10:49a little bit too long to really get going.
10:52So he's always behind the eight ball.
10:53He's always playing that little bit of catch-up.
10:55It just seems that Marquez and Martín
10:57are able to get into their stride,
10:59get into their rhythm that a little bit quicker
11:01and you can't give those two any kind of advantage,
11:04can you?
11:05But Marquez is playing catch-up
11:07both in this session and in the championship
11:08and in both he is catching up.
11:10The world champion has just taken second place
11:13on a 130.369.
11:15He's got to within a quarter of a second now
11:17of Marco Mazzetti.
11:18Is Martín about to restore that Aprilia 1-2?
11:20Answer no as he takes the checker flag.
11:23In fact, he's into the fourth sector now,
11:24so he's a third of a second down.
11:25It's Bez who's taken the checker flag
11:26and he will not improve on his 30.1.
11:29House split two going for the world champion.
11:31He's lost three tenths of a second.
11:33So it's going to be another impressive
11:3518th lap this in the session.
11:37As Fabio Quattro, that's one for the cameras.
11:40That nice little stopping
11:41on the brakes into that first corner.
11:44So at best, Quattro Raro will end the session
11:46eighth fastest way.
11:48Martín takes the checkered flag.
11:50Well, it was a bit like the theme already emerging,
11:53the pattern emerging in Japan last weekend
11:54where the top three felt like throughout.
11:56It was pretty much a combination of
11:59Betsechi, Marc Marquez and Jorge Martín.
12:01And that looks like it's going to be the state of play
12:04to kick off this crucial Grand Prix of Indonesia.
12:07Betsechi will have the advantage,
12:09nigh on a quarter of a second clear of 93.
12:12Marc Marquez, who we ride on board with now,
12:15powering his back to Ducati out of that final call.
12:17And that shot there is indication
12:18just how short that run to the finish line is
12:21coming out of turn 17.
12:24So, Betse, third in the world championship.
12:26Fastest this morning.
12:27Marc Marquez, second in the world championship.
12:30P2 in that session.
12:32P2, of course, Marc,
12:33and the last four qualifying sessions in by the GP.
12:36And the world championship leader,
12:38P1 in the rank,
12:39he mostly coming in here
12:40for Fabio Quattro,
12:41because as you can just see there,
12:42he had just taken the chequered flag.
12:45So this is one for our camera operators
12:47and one for the photographers
12:48gathered at the first corner.
12:50Brilliant.
12:52Oh, that's some skill.
12:53That's some talent, isn't it?
12:55He won't be doing that.
12:56Well, he hopefully won't be doing that
12:57on a hot lap
12:58because that will be costing him time.
13:00But yeah, Fabio after the...
13:01...
13:05...
13:06...
13:07You
