The video captures terrifying highway conditions during the rapidly escalating Hawk Fire as a fast-moving wildfire engulfs the road during a frantic evacuation.
In the harrowing clip, dark, towering plumes of smoke completely choke US 395 North between Red Rock and Stead, dropping visibility to near zero for fleeing drivers.
Bright orange flames surge through the dry brush right up to the pavement before suddenly jumping directly across the multi-lane highway.
Fleeing residents navigate a wall of fire and blinding embers along the highway corridor as the wildfire transforms a routine drive into a desperate escape.
