00:02Air quality in Singapore worsened on Friday, securing the top spot as the world's most polluted major city on Swiss
00:10air quality monitoring website, IQ Air.
00:13The transboundary pollution, also called haze, has been blamed on fires that are burning across vast stretches of forest and
00:22peatland across the Indonesian archipelago and has caused unhealthy air conditions in neighboring Malaysia and Singapore with a rise in
00:31respiratory illnesses.
00:33The haze has come ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, with the motorsports governing FIA addressing concerns, saying restrictions on
00:42entertainment and other outdoor activities at this weekend's Grand Prix may take place, but the race itself will not be
00:50affected.
00:51Because the F1 is such a special event, and I know that I would only be outdoors for a couple
00:56of hours, because I am such a big fan, I probably would care less about my health.
01:02And think, oh well, it's just a few hours, how bad could it be? And then just enjoy the F1
01:06anyway, and then carry on.
01:09It doesn't have to do with the haze, to be honest. It's so much warmer than what I'm used to,
01:13so it would be difficult for me. But in this haze, it's not ideal to work out, yes.
01:18As of 12 p.m. on Friday, the air quality reading for Singapore stood at 216, within the very unhealthy
01:26range on IQ Air's website.
