00:00Mr. Speaker, today on the 10th annual Latin American and Hispanic Day on the Hill,
00:05I rise to recognize the millions of Canadians of Latin American and Hispanic heritage
00:10from coast to coast to coast.
00:12From music and the arts to public service to professional sports,
00:15Latin American Canadians make vital contributions to our communities every single day.
00:20As co-chair of the Canada-Dominican Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group,
00:24I wish to specifically recognize the long-standing relationship between our two countries.
00:30As the second most populous country in the Caribbean,
00:34the Dominican Republic has been a key regional partner for Canada for more than 70 years
00:38on issues including trade, tourism, investment, and a shared commitment to democracy and open markets.
00:45That's why, later this month, we will have the privilege to welcome to Ottawa
00:48His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic,
00:52and this visit promises to further strengthen the partnership between our two countries.
