00:00Let's be honest, King's College needs investment, better facilities, better infrastructure and a
00:05better learning environment are things parents would welcome. Does fixing those problems require
00:09giving a private organization control of a public school for 50 years? This however is not the first
00:14federal government school where private involvement has raised questions. A federal government college
00:20can hold an 8.5 billion naira public-private partnership is being used to provide new
00:25infrastructure and involves about 33 hectares of underutilized school land. The federal government
00:31says King's College will remain publicly owned while the concession is expected to bring investment
00:36and improve the school. But for parents, ownership is only one part of the story. Who decides what
00:42parents pay? What keeps the school accessible? Who protects the interest of students and staff?
00:47And who makes sure the promises made today are still honored 10, 20, and 30 years from now?
00:53And if King's College Old Boys Association is bringing the funding and expertise to transform
00:59the school, could a school receive that investment without giving up long-term management? These are
01:04questions government needs to answer. Because for parents, this is about what the arrangement means
01:10for their children, not just today, but in the years ahead. What would you, as a parent of Casey,
01:15wants the federal government to guarantee before this concession goes ahead?
