00:03This video was recently captured as part of an archaeological dig in the UK and this is what
00:09experts say is an ancient tool one dating back over 3,000 years. The tool is a spade and its
00:16dating suggests it would have been from the Bronze Age. Experts now say it's the oldest Bronze Age
00:20object ever discovered in England. The small shovel is made of oak with experts saying that
00:25radiocarbon dating has revealed it is from between approximately 34 to 3,500 years ago.
00:31Archaeologists have yet to find any evidence of a permanent settlement in the area but rather they
00:36suspect people came here seasonally. For what reason they might come to these moors? Experts are still
00:41unsure. However this oaken tool might provide clues with one of the researchers saying about it. The
00:46spade is a fascinating part of the story and as research continues we're looking forward to
00:50exploring the relationship between the spade and the ditch where it was found and what else they
00:54can tell us about life here 3,000 years ago. They add that this could shed light on humanity's
00:59current climate crisis. Better understanding how humans have historically dealt with changing
01:03coastal regions. This is only the second Bronze Age object to have ever been unearthed in the UK.
01:08The previous one found in 1875.
