01:28though ross i think you'd agree with this way you know you have those friends and you're like i just
01:30i couldn't possibly ever say this to his face they say a bunch of really nice things
01:34it's basically what that's basically what me and ross did for like seven minutes while you were gone
01:38and we're never going to say them again well that's good well i don't deserve them a second time
01:45it is funny by the way that the people that matter the most in life are the people that when

01:51else is praising you they're making fun of you and when you're really down your dumps and other
01:58people are ignoring you they're the ones that are like there to support you it's a thousand percent

02:08the three and one browns obviously this is surprising some people uh do do you think
02:15this is closer to a nice start to the season or maybe a nice start to something real uh for

02:20browns well define real meaning like they could be like an eight nine nine and eight very competitive
02:28team this year yeah i think that's a i think that's a real possibility and because primarily i would
02:37say because they've gotten off to such a good start you know when you have a new head coach a
02:43new
02:44d coordinator and i would say on some level a new quarterback or a revitalized quarterback let's call
02:51them i do think it really does matter how you start because that's how you get the buy-in and
02:59so now
03:00the things that ruttenberg has been preaching the things obviously that munkin's been telling these
03:07guys that these guys are all bought in now like they're all in they love i'm assuming they love
03:13munkin they believe what these guys are telling them and that really gives them a chance that gives
03:20them a chance now do i think watson will have you know this many games in a row where he
03:27has the
03:27game-winning drive in the fourth quarter probably not you know i think that'll probably even out and
03:32he won't be able to get it done but i do think there's a pretty good chance that they're in
03:37the mix
03:38now for a while because he's moving around well he's clutch and probably the biggest thing is just
03:47the defense is really playing at a pretty high level you know i was a little bit worried about
03:51that after the jaguars game but it was the first game and the jags are super good uh can you
03:57take
03:57us into any concerns you'd have coming off a long really extended a couple days off here a few days
04:03off after playing on thursday night football you're three and one to start the season maybe you go back
04:07home and everybody's telling you how awesome you are and then you have the jet staring in your face
04:10and a game that shouldn't really at least on the surface seem like the hardest game in the world
04:16staring you down yeah so that's a real thing i believe you know and it's kind of a crazy thing
04:24to be talking about with the browns but how you handle prosperity how you handle success a lot of
04:30those guys went back to their hometowns or maybe they went to their college everybody said oh you guys
04:36were up to a great start you guys are awesome and then you know they know the jets are one
04:41and three
04:41the jets actually that game against chicago wasn't nearly as close as the score indicates
04:49so i don't think that the browns are looking past an opponent but we see it all the time i
04:56mean it
04:56happens in college football every week nfl not quite as much but i don't know i've been doing this long
05:03enough and so have you guys right when you think oh the browns are good and the jets are bad
05:08that's
05:09exactly when the jets would win this game and obviously a lot of people think they're going to
05:14because the browns are underdogs which is super interesting ross it was interesting to hear some
05:19of the criticisms coming from uh browns fans and just the media in general about the way amazon handled
05:26the deshaun conversation in it and i think you're in a great position for this because of of your
05:32prevalence on the cbs calls sit next to a living legend like iron eagle because like i understand
05:40that deshaun's camp wants him to be seen as a comeback story but you can't really tell that
05:46comeback story in a impartial incomplete way right like if you're going to tell if you're going to paint
05:53him as a comeback story you can't just make it about football the way it seemed like amazon was trying
05:58to make it right so i called that game on the radio i was on the call i was in
06:06cleveland while
06:07you were you know out and about i was in cleveland i was i was boots on the ground okay
06:12covering the
06:13browns while you were gallivanting around and uh as a result i literally did not hear one word
06:21of the amazon broadcast so i can't even begin to comment on that in any way without hearing it and
06:28to be honest with you even if i had heard every word i probably still wouldn't but um certainly not
06:34going to say anything having not heard one word because i was giving one of the greatest radio
06:41broadcasts in football history and i believe that uh because you're fantastic at it so tell me what was
06:46your approach then as you were doing your game what was your approach to and how did you guys talk
06:50about it even leading up to the game like do you do you touch on it a lot do you
06:54just kind of
06:55make a sweeping comment remark on it or do you just give football fans the benefit of the doubt that

08:03has the most to be concerned about outside of cleveland it's a really good question um
08:12you know it's one where i feel like i would love to have access to one more game each and

08:17you like see how this weekend goes for all of them uh you know when lamar jackson gets injured it

08:24seems to be a little bit weird and it doesn't seem like anybody ever really knows when he's going to
08:30play so that jumps out i will say the ravens seem to be pretty confident in what they can accomplish
08:38this season trading a second round pick for cam jurgens you know to get the eagle center for the
08:45rest of the year today uh that signals to me like the the ravens now look he's on a contract
08:51for several
08:51more years and it's a position where they have an issue now because they've had all these injuries but
08:56that's a pretty aggressive move you don't see a lot of second round picks get traded in season
09:03like that so i thought that was noteworthy um super critical game for the bangles after losing back
09:10to back that they've got to bounce back you know they can't lose to the dolphins and the stealers
09:17i actually give them some credit for the resiliency they showed the other night i thought they were done
09:23i mean i thought it was just a bad night for them and they came all the way back and

09:28you know being in the stadium it it was so unique when the stealers scored to tie the game
09:38because you could just feel you could feel browns fans thinking here we go again i mean that place was
09:46so quiet and yet unlike probably so many times before for them the browns came through to sean
09:54watson and the offense came through got the field goal they got to stop it was pretty cool because
10:00you could tell that like from all their past bad experiences that the fans certainly thought
10:09after the stealers tied it up that they were probably going to win the game
10:13yeah no you're right about that uh let me ask and this is not just brown specific we asked albert
10:17breer this question yesterday and i thought he gave a really insightful answer i'll tell you his
10:20answer it was basically uh off the question of how long before you believe a surprise team is
10:24actually good he said you have to see them go up against a really good team and how they measure
10:29first so whether that's the raiders whether that is uh minnesota or the giants or any of these teams
10:35that off to good starts or the browns how long before you believe a surprise team is actually good
10:43no i'd say right about now i'd say after after a month you start to have a pretty good feel
10:49the reality though is if you look at like even just look at last year okay the best teams the
10:55teams that
10:56were in the conference championship even the divisional round a lot of them stumbled in the first half of
11:03the year and then november and december they just went on these runs you know like the the patriots
11:10were one and two and then they finished 14 and three the the texans were oh and three and finished
11:18with 12 wins you know on the nfc side the seahawks went on that run in the second half of
11:24the year
11:25um you know certainly the broncos as well i can't remember if they were one and two or what their
11:29record was so you know it's funny even josh mcdaniel's northeast ohio native by the way was saying that
11:37with these guys not playing at all in preseason games september everybody's still trying to kind
11:42of put it together figure out the best way to use this year's group of guys make sure this year's
11:49group has the best feel for what they're doing schematically and then it's the teams that in
11:54october start to ascend and then take the next step november december what i would tell you is
12:02you know i think the panthers are a pretty decent team they got a couple wins steelers pretty decent
12:06team they got a couple wins and the browns beat them both it's not like they've just been beaten
12:10up on bad teams i mean the panthers and steelers i think are both in the top 20 of the

12:28retirement sudden retirement after four games has generated a lot of silly takes but there is the
12:34fact that him retiring when he does accelerates his dead cap hit and i know the eagles have a
12:39a cap armageddon kind of brewing in the future here and it's been interesting to hear the capologist
12:46surmise that they think this probably leads with howie roseman becoming a short basically leaving on
12:53his own so he doesn't have to clean up the mess of the the salary cap putting off here what

12:58what how what is your take on the internet theory that the salary cap armageddon coming for the
13:03eagles in the next two years well we'll see howie roseman maybe duck out early on this franchise
13:11uh that would be one of the biggest surprises of my entire time following the nfl that would really
13:23really surprise me i don't think he's trading cam jurgens today if he feels like he's going to bounce
13:32in a year or two why would you do that i mean let's let's let's use some logic here if
13:37he's planning to
13:38bounce because of quote unquote salary cap armageddon which i highly doubt the eagles look at it that way
13:45why would he be trading for a 2028 second round pick there's no logic there and i would say there's
13:52almost no logic to you reading conspiracy theories on the internet nicholas there's plenty of uh logic
13:59behind that it's i have a lot of time my kids are getting older they don't need dad as much
