00:00Hey, it's Meltdown here with Randy Wolfman. Adam, the Wolfman. Randy, how are you, man?
00:04Doing great, Meltdown. Thanks for having me on. I appreciate it, man.
00:07Yeah, you're welcome. This weekend, a big weekend out there at Vibe Credit Union
00:10with the Shiny Rust Hot Rod Spectacular. So tell us about that.
00:15Yeah, it's going to be a Saturday, Sunday two-door indoor show over here at the Vibe Credit Union
00:20show place right in Novi, which used to be Suburban Showplace. And I'm very honored and
00:25humbled that I got a bunch of hot rodders that are going to bring their cars out. And it's going
00:29to be everything from rat rods to drag cars to classics and more.
00:34Yeah, and have you been scouring the car scene, picking out some of your favorites? Or have
00:38people just been submitting on websites and they're going to all show up? How does this
00:42work?
00:44Believe it or not, I am right back in the room for about 230 vehicles, and I've got over
00:50300 submissions. Not ready to make it to the show, but I have been at Frankenmuth, obviously
00:56scouring out there for my buddies to bring cars. Also, this is past weekend at the M1
01:01concourse for the American Speed Festival, and out there, and I had a few cars jump on
01:06board. So yeah, I've been all over, plus the shows I do, my Shiny Rust Hot Rod shows I do
01:11all over. I've been, again, kind of choice picking. So it's going to be pretty cool. A little bit
01:15of everything there. Classics, hot rods, customs, drag cars, rat rods, you name it, we got it.
01:21And you got music entertainment as well, right?
01:25This year, no. I'm not doing a band. This year is just going to be kind of background
01:29party music, you know, hot rod music, and it's, you know, testing out the water. It's the first
01:35time doing a bigger show here at the Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi. I just want to make sure
01:40I can get the first one done and then kind of go back to the drawing board and fine tune.
01:44But
01:44entertainment-wise, we are going to have a guest panel on Saturday and Sunday of Hot Rodders,
01:50Car Builders, and that. And then on Sunday, after one of the Q&As, it's going to be the Vehicle
01:56City
01:57Vixens doing a Pin-Up Girl contest that's at 1.30. And then after that, we go into the awards
02:01presentation, and I got over, gosh, 40 to 50 awards that are going to be handed out. Everything from
02:06Best of Show, Top 25, and Legacy Award that I'm going to be presenting to a person of my choice.
02:12Oh, okay. And somebody, obviously, who's been around for a long time that has the car culture all
02:18wrapped up? Yes. And, you know, that's the thing, and you said it great, the car culture and that,
02:24because it is like a family. And I know that you're a hot rodder and, you know, biker and that.
02:28It's
02:28awesome that that family, that motorsports family, that gearhead family, you know, they all are on
02:34the same level. And there's other shows that might have a little bit more of the, you know,
02:38checkbook behind them. But this is pretty much my motto has always been grassroots built, not bought.
02:42And that's kind of what you're going to see at the Shiny Rest Hot Rod Spectacular.
02:46Yeah. You know what? You know, it's funny, like, you probably don't know this, but when I came here
02:50to Detroit in 1995, my first thought in my head was that's where they build all the cars, because
02:55I'm a big three guy and I'm a hot rod guy. I love to go to the car shows and
02:59whatnot. And when you have
03:01a, when you have a car show in Detroit, I think it carries a little bit more water than it
03:06does when
03:06you're in like, you know, Omaha or somewhere. Yeah. Or even any, you know, whether you say New York,
03:12California, California, of course, they got the weather, but it, you're absolutely right. Meltdown
03:16with the big three being here. And that's how it started. If you talk to most people,
03:20their father, grandparents, their great grandparents, somewhere down the line,
03:24worked at a machine shop, worked at an auto shop, a dealership. So it's kind of, you know,
03:28the motor city is, you know, Detroit. And then just a little North here is vehicle city,
03:32you know, Flint. And that's, you know, we're the heartbeat. We're the ones that started it up,
03:36man. You know, and no pun intended with the car culture and that, and then California picked it up
03:41because they had the weather so they could do the cool stuff. And that's where all the customs,
03:44you know, started, but you know, like you just said, Autorama, uh, being that is an awesome show.
03:51They do the Riddler award and that does not happen at any other show. And that's a very
03:54prestigious award and that, and so just talking with your touch on what you just said, uh, yeah,
04:00people know when you say Detroit, they think cars, hot rods. That's right. Exactly. And of course,
04:07I mean, the, you know, the dream cruise and everything that we do. So, uh, tell me about
04:10the website where people can get tickets, all of that kind of stuff.
04:14Absolutely. It is, um, shiny rust show.com or.net. Both of those will take you to the same place.
04:21And we got tickets that are very affordable. It's going to be in advance. You can get tickets for
04:26five bucks for Sunday. And, uh, you know, I don't know anybody else doing that, but, uh, also
04:31on Saturday, if you want to come Saturday, it's $15 at the door and on Sunday, it's $10 at the
04:37door
04:37and they have $10 parking here. So for 25 bucks on a Saturday, you can come in, see all these
04:42hot
04:42rods, see all these classics. And we are going to have a simulated, you know, that simulated, uh,
04:47Sims racing. We have the trailer coming in and it's going to be free to the patrons to get in
04:52and
04:52you can race with your buddies. The kids can do it. There's, uh, people are going to be, you know,
04:56we have vendors that are going to be here giving away stuff and selling stuff as well. And then, um,
05:00um, with the pinup girl contest, you know, that's, that's, and it's a throwback. It's not a,
05:04you know, it's not a bikini contest or anything like that. It is a cool pinup girl contest,
05:10you know, where that hot rod culture came from, you know, the world war two and guys,
05:14when they were picking up those pictures, uh, you know, for their girlfriends come back home.
05:18Yeah, no doubt. Well, listen, Wolfman, good to talk to you. We'll send everybody your way
05:22coming up on a Saturday and Sunday vibe credit union, uh, for the shiny rust hot rod. Spectacular
05:26sounds like it's going to be a great time. And of course, uh, probably one of the,
05:30I'd have to say probably one of the last big car shows of the year, correct?
05:35You're absolutely right. And that's why we did it at, or why I did it at the end of the
05:38year
05:39was because to get all, you know, the Frank moved and all the other big shows kind of out of
05:43the
05:44way. And this is, uh, the show that you have before you put them away in the garage and get
05:48them ready for, you know, the shows that are happening next year and meltdown. I do want to say
05:51one thing, and this is not necessarily about the cars and that, but I always say that my events and
05:55that
05:55I want to thank the veterans and active military personnel and first responders, including record
05:59drivers that never really get recognized to thank them because if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be
06:03doing stuff like we're doing, man.
