Jalen Lime finds a lost wallet containing $800 at a time when he desperately needs money himself.
His gas tank is almost empty, bills are piling up, and the temptation is real. But the wallet also contains an ID, which means Jalen knows exactly who the money belongs to.
Oliver Orange doesn’t tell him what decision to make. He asks a harder question:
“What would keeping it break?”
Jalen eventually returns the wallet to Walter Melon, who is stunned to discover that every dollar is still there.
When Walter tries to reward him, Jalen refuses.
“I didn’t bring it back for that.”
Doing the right thing doesn’t suddenly make Jalen rich. His problems are still waiting for him.
But he gets to leave knowing they didn’t change who he was.
