All schools in Johor will be closed for two days on Thursday and Friday (Oct 8 and 9) due to the worsening haze and deteriorating air quality across the state.

Johor education and information committee chairman Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali said the decision was made following the directive of Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, as a precautionary measure to safeguard the health and safety of students.

00:34parents and guardians and urged employers to provide reasonable flexibility and suitable

00:43Schools involved in the Year 4 Learning Matrix, MPT4, and other assessments will postpone the
00:50exercises, with new dates to be determined by the Johor Education Department and relevant
00:56parties.
00:56Home-based teaching and learning, PDPR, will be conducted during the two-day closure
01:03to ensure lessons continue.
01:05Dr Mohamed Naqib said the state government and relevant agencies would continue monitoring
01:11Air Pollutant Index, API, readings.
01:15He also advised parents and guardians to monitor their children's health, limit outdoor activities,
01:22and ensure they stay hydrated.
01:24He said the state government hoped the haze situation would improve soon and thanked all
01:30parties for their cooperation in safeguarding the well-being of children in Johor.
