00:00Being predominantly a drummer and then going from that to being a lead guitarist,
00:05I've actually found playing really, really difficult over the years.
00:09Hi, I'm Sarah.
00:10And I'm Josephine.
00:11And we are in Los Pichos.
00:13And we're coming to you today from Palm Tree Island Studios in Soho
00:17and we're here to talk to you guys about our favourite instruments.
00:24So this is my favourite bass.
00:27I call it Geddy because it's a Fender Jazz Geddy Lee signature bass.
00:32I got this on eBay randomly in 2011.
00:37And it's been my go-to workhorse bass since then.
00:43It's extremely reliable, very versatile.
00:46I actually got it because I went to music school here
00:50and I had this like Aria semi hollow bodied bass,
00:56which was my first bass, which I love.
00:58But my teachers at the music school absolutely hated it.
01:02They just thought it didn't sound good.
01:04And it was quite awkward to play.
01:06It was quite big.
01:07And they were like, please, for the love of God,
01:10get like a more all-rounded bass.
01:12And one of my schoolmates had this Geddy Lee one.
01:15I tried it and I was like, oh my God, that's the one I want
01:18because it's so, so playable.
01:20It's like got a slightly skinnier than usual neck.
01:24It's a C-shaped neck.
01:25This really nice, comfortable maple fretboard.
01:28And it's quite light, which I really like.
01:30It's good for your back and it's very comfortable to play.
01:33This is my Italia Marinello Speedster.
01:36I got it in Nottingham about 10 years ago.
01:39I was definitely not even in the market to buy a guitar at the time
01:43because I was playing drums.
01:43But I saw these two stripes and I fell in love with this guitar.
01:48I have actually never modified it since the day I bought it either.
01:53And you can even see I haven't even replaced the volume knob
01:56because I feel like your guitar tells a story,
01:59whether it's your workhorse or whether it's your recording horse.
02:05But I feel like every single little nick
02:08and every little scrape tells a story.
02:12And I really don't want to, yeah,
02:15I wouldn't want to interfere with the journey
02:17that this guitar has been on.
02:19And I love this guitar because it feels really easy for me to play.
02:23Being predominantly a drummer
02:25and then going from that to being a lead guitarist,
02:29I've actually found playing really, really difficult over the years.
02:32So having something that feels really comfortable
02:35and really easy and familiar
02:38definitely helps me to play live.
02:41And it just makes me feel good.
02:43And mostly it looks awesome.
02:46And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:53And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:53And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:54And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:54And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:55And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:55And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:55And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:56And that's how I want a guitar to be.
02:57And that's how I want a guitar to be.
