00:00You have asked me to review the smallest Jeep.
00:03This one here is the Jeep Avenger
00:04and we have it here in the 85th Anniversary Edition
00:08and also as the 4xe
00:10because, I mean, that proper Jeep
00:12needs some all-wheel drive, doesn't it?
00:14We're going to take a look.
00:15Exterior, interior and driving of the Jeep Avenger
00:19with Thomas Nauticofuel in 4K, full screen, full length.
00:22Let's go here with the front.
00:24Very strong Jeep front and recently also
00:27a little bit updated with the front grille
00:28and the lower bumper and so on.
00:30And the 85th Anniversary Edition
00:32also then has here these accentuations,
00:35like these golden ones actually.
00:37You know, just telling about the whole heritage
00:41about the brand and some off-road features
00:43like, for example, here, this black wrap
00:45on top of the hood that is reducing reflections
00:48when driving off-road and so on.
00:50So yeah, I mean, why not?
00:51And some Easter eggs here, for example,
00:53like this, I'm sure if it's supposed
00:55like a BMX rider here on top of the mountain peak
00:58or something like that, why not?
01:00To spice it up a little bit.
01:01This one here is available as a combustion engine
01:04and also as an all-electric version soon
01:07about all the powertrains.
01:09Then, next to the strong front,
01:11by the way, optional matrix LED.
01:13We can also see them right here.
01:15Side profile.
01:16It's a short vehicle at 4 meters
01:17and 8 or 161 inches.
01:19And we have wheels from 16 to 18 inch.
01:21These are the larger ones, 18 inch.
01:23And once again, again, with these as iterations.
01:26And the Willis MB here, the front grille,
01:30the traditional one as an Easter egg.
01:32And here as well, at the center of the wheel cap.
01:35So why not giving some emotional features there?
01:38Also classic, rather upright building style.
01:40The rear doors are attached right here.
01:42It's a difference also to the platform brother,
01:44the Fiat 600.
01:46And the Alfa Junior is another platform brother.
01:48They're all together built in Poland.
01:51And the Fiat 600 has a normal door handle right here.
01:55And not too bad.
01:56These off-road features here.
01:5822 degrees approaching angle.
02:00Then we have 21 centimeters of ground clearance
02:03and even 35 degrees of descending angle.
02:08Three-dimensional tail lamp here.
02:10And of course, here for towing.
02:13Off-road situations, of course,
02:15it's not like for a trailer or something,
02:17but for being pulled out of that.
02:20Or maybe you pull someone out.
02:22Probably better that way around, right?
02:25So styling works very well, I think.
02:27The 4xe version here.
02:29This one is with an additional electric motor at the rear.
02:33And in this case here,
02:35the 4xe version is only available
02:38for the combustion engine.
02:40That's a little bit peculiar
02:41because in the new Jeep Compass,
02:44the 4xe version is only the all-electric one.
02:48Whereas here, the all-wheel drive version
02:51is the mild hybrid one.
02:53So you have an all-electric version
02:55with 51 kilowatt hours in the battery.
02:57And then you have the 1.2-liter
02:59three-cylinder petrol engine.
03:02And that one is available in different specs.
03:07Mild hybrid.
03:08And then here, this one is also the all-wheel drive spec.
03:12As I said, additional electric motor in the rear.
03:15You're also nicely dampened underneath.
03:18And this is also the quickest spec,
03:21which is then below 10 seconds
03:23in the acceleration figure.
03:25Of course, drive that one here today.
03:27And since we last time drove
03:29the little bit weaker horsepower one
03:31from the Fiat 600,
03:33we also can compare that a little bit.
03:35And you know, we are a channel of details here.
03:38And there was one specific length detail
03:41I've been examining in detail indeed.
03:44So the length is, as I said,
03:474 meters 8, 161 inches.
03:48But there's also,
03:50when you read the all-wheel drive version,
03:524 meters 11 or 162 inches.
03:55And I think, why is that actually?
03:57And well, there is this hook here
03:59that you can pull people out of the sandpit or something.
04:03But then I was measuring like,
04:04wait a minute, it's 6 centimeters.
04:06So is that really the difference
04:07that comes from the hook?
04:09And yes, it is.
04:10And why is that?
04:11Because here, this rear bumper
04:15is a little bit longer in the middle.
04:17So you basically have to put a line here first,
04:20and then it shows that you measure here,
04:24the hook from there.
04:25and this is then about 3 centimeters longer.
04:30And that then explains,
04:32yes, it is the hook,
04:33although it's longer than 3 centimeters.
04:35From this line here,
04:36this part is 3 centimeters longer.
04:38So that means,
04:39when you have this all-wheel drive version
04:41and you have the hook,
04:42this is then the reason it's 3 centimeters longer.
04:45Right.
04:45It's very good to know.
04:46And since we're already in the deep dive
04:48of technology and so on,
04:51you remember, this one here is the mild hybrid one,
04:53and we have the 12 volt starter battery,
04:56the normal one here in the front,
04:58next to the engine block.
05:00Then we have the 48 volt,
05:03so higher voltage battery,
05:05from the mild hybrid system,
05:07underneath the driver's seat.
05:09That's why this cutout is a little bit strange here,
05:12and this is pretty high underneath the driver's seat.
05:15And this footrest area is a little bit smaller,
05:18but you don't realize it that much.
05:19So this and the high voltage battery.
05:22And then, here we also have the all-wheel drive version,
05:26and the electric motor needs like a control unit and so on.
05:31And underneath here, this felt,
05:33this is then where the only mild hybrid version
05:37would have more space underneath.
05:38And you could put this one also,
05:40then, you know, a little bit lower.
05:42Here, this one, then it's different
05:44that we have this additional electric piston underneath.
05:47so, yeah, there you know where you have which in the positioning.
05:51Now to the interiors,
05:53and that's Stellantis key fob,
05:54just with the Jeep badge,
05:56then door closing sound.
05:59Yeah, here, the rear doors are attached here.
06:03Or open there.
06:04Yeah, door closing sound is
06:07nothing to be mentioned.
06:08Let's take it that way.
06:09Some updates here.
06:11In the recent modeling update,
06:12this is now soft touch.
06:14There's also difference to the Fiat 600,
06:16for example, where it's all hard pack.
06:18So here, then, you have a soft leatherette.
06:19And here, that should be softer for your elbow, though.
06:23Standard control for the windows
06:24and also for the side mirrors.
06:26This is all hard pack here.
06:28Then, we have the steering wheel.
06:30It's a soft leatherette.
06:31It's a nice material,
06:32nicely structured,
06:33also a little bit dampened underneath.
06:35And then, you have classic controls
06:37here for the cruise control,
06:38right side for the volume,
06:40wheel buttons at the steering wheel.
06:41And here, this one gets also
06:42proper large digital instruments.
06:45They are larger than with the Fiat 600.
06:47It's also another difference.
06:48Then, this is here,
06:49the 85th anniversary edition.
06:51And that's why we have these
06:54special Clark pattern seats.
06:56And then, here, the logo with the Willis MB.
06:59And this, here, also fabric.
07:01There, of course, different seats available.
07:02Fabric, fabric, leatherette mix, and so on.
07:06Here, we have got a little bit on the outside.
07:08And then, we also have the off-road rubber floor mats.
07:11And the steering wheel up and down,
07:13in and out.
07:14And the seats are nice.
07:15You also find a good seating position
07:17as a tall adult.
07:18That's fine.
07:18Of course, it's not the largest car.
07:20Gotta say that.
07:21You see it here, you know,
07:22with the angle of my knees.
07:23So, gotta put it in perspective.
07:25But for the headroom,
07:27this one is fine with 189 602.
07:29And it also has, here in this edition,
07:32like a special pattern
07:33from the inside of that ceiling.
07:35Then, here to the cockpit.
07:37Interesting is that we have,
07:38here in this platform, this glove box,
07:40which comes down like a tray.
07:43So, this has a huge opening.
07:45It's interesting.
07:46You can maybe use it as a picnic table or something.
07:48And yeah, it goes deep in there.
07:49Then, we have some leatherette here,
07:51also on the dash.
07:53So, that's also nice.
07:55Hard peg, though, on the top part.
07:58Classic manual here for the vents.
08:00Then, we have some hotkeys here.
08:02Home menu.
08:03But here, this is important.
08:05Like, you go to the vehicle system.
08:07But when you press and hold directly,
08:08then the EU speed chime law,
08:11beep, beep, beep, goes directly off.
08:13So, that's actually good.
08:15And you have in the top part here,
08:17horizontal infotainment system,
08:18hotkey then to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto.
08:21And this is what you will be mostly using.
08:24The infotainment system is not the quickest one
08:27from the responsiveness.
08:29Happy to have here manual volume jog
08:31and also manual for the AC.
08:35Right side is then the fan speed, for example.
08:37So, yeah, really happy to have that in that way.
08:40Here with the MF,
08:41the shifting buttons are down there
08:43for reverse, neutral, and drive.
08:46Then, 85th anniversary edition
08:48has the Clark pattern here from underneath.
08:50You can close that one or have it, like, open.
08:53And then, the inductive charging pad
08:55is not ventilated, though.
08:56And then, you have the charging USB-A and USB-C
08:59down there and 12V power supply,
09:01some space, terrain select.
09:03If you want to go off-roading,
09:05outdoor sports, sand, mud, snow mode, and so on.
09:08But yeah, it's not a real off-roader,
09:10although it has all-wheel drive.
09:11And then, here,
09:12you have some adjustments for the cup holders.
09:18But the question is always, like,
09:20does it really fit the exact bottle then?
09:22Some space here underneath with this armrest.
09:24This is also a little bit nicely padded on the top.
09:28And I also have my favorite funny feature
09:31for you here today.
09:33The indicator sound.
09:42It's like the DJ is turning up the bass
09:44or the beat drum.
09:46You've maybe also seen, like,
09:48a short reel from us about this.
09:51It's the hazard lights.
09:53And it's also turning indicators.
09:56At least,
09:59when the, like, the ignition is on.
10:01If the ignition is off,
10:03then there's no sound from the indicators
10:05because it's over the speakers.
10:07It's not standard, like, old-school relay about that.
10:10And the hazard lights,
10:12they always work, though, and give that sound.
10:15And I've just been imagining,
10:16hopefully not,
10:17but should you at some point have an accident
10:19and you roll over and you're, like,
10:21in the car, like, oh,
10:23and then the indicators go on automatically.
10:26You are hanging in the car, you know,
10:29upside down and you're, like,
10:31ah, at least I got the beat.
10:33And then you get rolling again.
10:35Hopefully climb out of the vehicle.
10:36Then the rear seating.
10:38I have no problem with the height here.
10:39With 189, 642, that's okay.
10:42But legroom, it's a short vehicle, you know,
10:45and then when the tall person is driving,
10:47adults can hardly only fit behind here.
10:50Theoretically, you could also use the fifth seat.
10:53USB-C charging is in the front there.
10:56There's a small one,
10:57big metal tunnel,
10:58and everything hardback here.
11:00So yeah, basic, basically,
11:04interesting formulation.
11:05And the seating itself is actually quite comfortable,
11:08you know, and the fabric here and so on.
11:10But it's just the legroom here,
11:11because the car is just too short,
11:13then four tall adults.
11:14To the trunk or the boot,
11:16355 liters in this case,
11:18because this is MHAF and the all-way drive, actually.
11:20So we have a little bit less in liters.
11:22This one still fits vertically.
11:24Then we have,
11:25there's, like, 95 centimeters,
11:2738 inches here in the width.
11:29The normal length is at 27 inches
11:32or almost 70 centimeters.
11:35And underneath,
11:36we cannot put it in lower position,
11:38but here they have, like,
11:39you know, some small storage.
11:41Yeah, that's about it, actually.
11:44And then in height,
11:45we can at least put this one in the way.
11:48I can pair that for you.
11:50And then we're here in the height of 70 centimeters,
11:5428 inches.
11:55And then when this one is removed,
11:56we can also easy fold the seats.
11:59There we go.
12:00And then probably it goes a little,
12:04that must go a little bit lower, I guess, right?
12:08Does it?
12:09Yeah, I mean,
12:10you could put the head restraints out,
12:11then they would go a little bit lower.
12:13But then the front seats also would need
12:16to move forward a little bit.
12:17And here we are in a total length
12:19of about 53 inches or 1 meters 35.
12:23Let's see how much power we have here
12:24with the mild hybrid.
12:259.5 seconds is the acceleration figure,
12:28officially, with the Jeep Avenger.
12:30Mild hybrid, overdrive.
12:32Let's push it.
12:34Maybe sport mode.
12:37Oh, there's a Fiat Topolino coming.
12:39We should not run that one over, right?
12:42So let's make space.
12:43Off-road space.
12:44Yeah, let's go.
12:45Come on.
12:45Let's go a little bit off-roading here.
12:50Oh, and there's now an Alpine A390, I think, electric.
13:00There we go.
13:03Okay.
13:04And now we can do our rally kickstart here
13:07in the sport mode.
13:08Instruments went red.
13:09And let's go.
13:18Nice.
13:19That was 0 to 90 kilometers an hour.
13:22It's actually not too bad, right?
13:25So 9.5 seconds is the official figure, as I said.
13:30But this is decent.
13:32And also quicker than with the
13:34version to the very base version we had
13:36with the Fiat 600 with the manual.
13:39And yeah, we can go back to the normal auto mode here.
13:44So there we go.
13:46And let's go to public roads.
13:48See about the steering and suspension and so on.
13:51So here we have the beat indicators.
13:58They're not that audible here
14:00when also the AC is running and so on.
14:03But you do hear them, you know,
14:04and you definitely feel the beat.
14:07Here in the roundabout,
14:09you already feel it's more like a...
14:12There's the beat again.
14:14So steering is very light.
14:16Is it...
14:17Let's see here.
14:18Maybe a little bit more resistance
14:20in the Sport mode indeed.
14:22Yeah.
14:23But light overall.
14:24Nice material.
14:26It's also a small compact size.
14:28You can well control it.
14:30And when I try to shake up the vehicle,
14:33Yeah.
14:35It gives a little bit Jeep off-road vibes indeed.
14:39So you feel that the suspension setup
14:41should be comfortable.
14:42We do have the 18-inch wheels here.
14:44So the largest wheels.
14:46But it's not that they would be rough
14:48or bumpy or something.
14:50And here we can do some countryside road tests.
14:53So we can now go to 100 kilometers an hour,
14:5560 miles an hour.
14:57Do a first test of the, you know,
14:59insulation and so on.
15:01Yeah.
15:01I mean, the engine sounds
15:03a little bit working.
15:06But only when you really, really push it.
15:08Otherwise, it's smooth.
15:09Also with this MF system.
15:10Here at 100 kilometers an hour,
15:1260 miles an hour.
15:13It drives nice.
15:14It drives smooth.
15:15And it's also not too loud.
15:17It is similar in the driving to the Fiat 600.
15:21I do have the feeling we sit a little bit higher here somehow.
15:23So it has a little bit more Jeep touch to it, definitely.
15:28And I mean, now with the update,
15:30we also have like the soft touch at the inside of the door.
15:32So a little bit more quality feeling.
15:34The rearview camera has a better resolution, for example.
15:39So some small deals, 0.9 kilowatt hour in the battery.
15:43Do we also have from time to time some electric moments?
15:47When I go off the throttle,
15:49it also goes into the charge mode.
15:50So we can regenerate some energy.
15:53We also see how it is then from the consumption
15:56then at the end of our test drive.
15:58It feels nice and light and agile here in the city.
16:01And maybe you think because the interior
16:05is maybe not the most fancy one and so on,
16:07that it's also not so special in driving.
16:09But we realized that already with the Fiat 600,
16:12that this small platform here actually drives very well.
16:16You know, it feels agile and light.
16:19And it is fun to drive.
16:21You know that the other Jeep models,
16:24they always promise you the off-road capabilities
16:26or like this rugged look on the exterior and so on.
16:30This one is more about being a city vehicle, definitely.
16:34But it's not that uncomfortable.
16:35So you can also do some longer journeys with it.
16:38And this one gives you indeed more driving fun
16:41because it is so small, compact and light.
16:45And that's actually a cool thing about it.
16:47Yeah, you feel also when you have some waves
16:51that the suspension is rather soft.
16:53But it's totally fine.
16:54You know, from a Jeep, you expect the suspension
16:56to be a little bit more off-road-ish,
16:58a little bit more forgiving.
17:00And you don't want the sportiest character in driving.
17:04So that's actually fine.
17:06The MF system always helps you a little bit also,
17:10you know, when you push it.
17:11The rear axle is of course most active
17:15when there's slip in the front,
17:17when you are in these off-road modes.
17:18And it always is only active
17:21when you drive up to a speed of 90 kilometers an hour.
17:23Above that is front wheel drive anyway.
17:25And also the majority of the power
17:27will always come from the front wheels.
17:29So it won't change the driving characteristics that much.
17:33But it's there basically when you need it.
17:36So it's mainly something when you say,
17:38hey, maybe in the wintertime,
17:42I live in a region where there's a lot of snow
17:43or the ice and you need to get up at the upper hill
17:46quite often something.
17:47And then it's probably helpful.
17:49For most others, it will not be the crucial factor.
17:53Definitely.
17:54I really like the smooth and fun driving experience here
17:59with the Jeep Avenger.
18:01And it's the same almost what I said with the Fiat 600.
18:05They are also, at least in the entry price,
18:08pretty similar indeed.
18:09This one here, of course, when you get the overdrive as well,
18:12then it goes higher when you are in the higher trim levels
18:16that you definitely pay much more money.
18:18And here, for example, now,
18:20again, goes to charge when we go a little bit downhill.
18:24So I'm looking forward to see also in the comparison
18:26with the same engine with the Fiat 600
18:28with the manual gearbox,
18:29what we end up for the consumption
18:31and at the end of this driving part.
18:34and still to come is also some part of German Autobahn.
18:38And German Autobahn, let's go one more time.
18:40Sport mode, 82.
18:45100.
18:50120.
18:51Yeah, you see that when you are already at speed,
18:54it takes time from zero.
18:56It's nice.
18:57You use the low weight of the vehicle,
18:59then it's actually fine.
19:00But when you're already at speed and go even further,
19:03then the small engine is just as,
19:06yeah, yeah.
19:07Just limited, basically.
19:10Up to 100 kilometers now,
19:11it's actually nice.
19:12Here from 120, 130,
19:14it gets quite loud in here.
19:16So that's not the main focus of that vehicle,
19:19definitely.
19:20Yeah, now we're at 130 kilometers now,
19:2380 miles an hour.
19:24There's significant wind noise here,
19:25like from the A pillar and so on.
19:28maybe it's still not too bad,
19:30but not the most pleasant feeling.
19:32Suspension-wise,
19:33you also feel a different setup here.
19:37So definitely Jeep Avenger is softer in a setup
19:40in comparison to the Fiat 600
19:42and also the Alfa Junior.
19:44They can go from Jeep to Fiat to Alfa,
19:48from like off-road-ish, soft-ish to sportier
19:52in the suspension setup.
19:53And it's astonishing how much difference
19:55that actually makes,
19:57because Leah also told me that
20:00she preferred as a passenger
20:02to be in the Fiat 600
20:05because you don't fly around so much
20:07as a passenger, you know?
20:09So when the suspension here is way softer,
20:12then it really goes like,
20:14more like back and forth,
20:15you know, especially in the corners.
20:17Here in the motorway, it's kind of like,
20:19okay, it's more going straight and so on,
20:21but the more corners there are,
20:24the passenger might feel a little bit irritated
20:26if you drive sporty in this Jeep Avenger then,
20:30because the suspension is definitely softer.
20:32But that's what the brand is also promising,
20:36this softer setup,
20:38more off-road-ish in the feeling and so on.
20:40And I think it's also okay for that.
20:42You can go for the other siblings then,
20:45if you actually prefer that in driving.
20:46But here when I'm going motorway,
20:50changes here like left and right,
20:52the lane changes, that's actually fine.
20:54It's more about when you are in this
20:57tight cornering scenario.
20:59Yeah, but here definitely with,
21:00well, 20 km an hour, 75 miles an hour,
21:03I think it's still okay.
21:04Everything above that gets a little bit unpleasant
21:07then with wind noise and so on.
21:10Systems, by the way, in the Fiat 600,
21:13we just had the basic cruise control.
21:15Here there's already, see here,
21:17the green steering symbol here.
21:21Distance to the front is being kept as well.
21:24But the active lane keeping is not
21:27like a modern active lane keeping
21:28where you can just trust on it and
21:30the car steers you because
21:33sometimes it doesn't hold you so much in the middle.
21:37And sometimes also, at the moment it's okay.
21:40Now here you can see it is steering.
21:43That's okay.
21:44I had moments before where it wasn't doing it properly,
21:48but you know, yeah, that's better.
21:50And I also had moments where the car was complaining.
21:52Yeah, there we go.
21:53Keep your hands on the wheel.
21:56So it's maybe not realizing it with capacitive control.
21:59You sometimes have to push it a little bit.
22:02and then here in this situation,
22:03it's working more or less well,
22:05but we also had situations where it wasn't going that proper.
22:11So yeah, maybe not the most necessary feature than here
22:16with this one, honestly.
22:17So let's go off the motorway once again,
22:20that we can change it back and forth.
22:24Let me show you something more of this sporty driving characteristic.
22:28Leah is looking forward to that.
22:30Very enthusiastic.
22:32So because a roundabout is approaching.
22:35Yeah, also when you are on the brakes
22:36and you feel like it's diving in the front a little bit.
22:40That didn't happen so much with the Fiat 600 with that setup.
22:44I never thought that I mentioned Fiat
22:46as a specially sporty brand.
22:49Yeah, that is astonishing indeed.
22:53So you know, in the roundabout.
22:54Okay, I wasn't pushing it so much,
22:56but yeah, you get the picture.
22:58Leaning more into the corners, softer setup.
23:01If you have some maybe soft off-road situations,
23:04if you want it sporty,
23:05you can go then for the Fiat 600 or the Alfa Junior.
23:09Pure economy, MBG.
23:11So it's 43 MBG US, 51 MBG UK,
23:15and 5.5 liters or more kilometers here with the MF system.
23:18And last time with the Fiat 600 without the MF.
23:22So difference is about 0.5 to 1 liter difference,
23:26which is better than here.
23:28About 5 MBG better than here with the MF system.
23:32Pricing this one here starts with the petrol manual
23:35at 26,000 euros.
23:37That's just, you know,
23:38some 1,500 euros more expensive than the Fiat 600.
23:42But then you get the Jeep badge at least already.
23:44And as it stands here right now,
23:47as the mild hybrid overdrive,
23:50the 4xe version,
23:51then also the top trim.
23:53You have here the 85th anniversary trim,
23:54but you can also go for a normal other different higher trim.
23:59And then you would pay for a highest spec
24:02here in the petrol version around 39,000 euros.
24:07What do you think about it?
24:07is that worth here for the Jeep Avenger?
24:11And you can now compare the Fiat 600
24:14or the bigger Jeep Compass.
24:16let's see you.
24:16Now,
