00:08but I hope it doesn't take away from the sincerity.
00:12In all humility, Your Honor, our intention in cross-examination
00:16is to test the credibility of the witness among others.
00:19And part of testing that credibility is to confront him,
00:22not just with documents, but with salient provisions of the law
00:26so that we can demonstrate whether or not his interpretation
00:29and application of the law is correct.
00:32So when we read portions of the law during our cross-examination,
00:36it is never our intention to cause intimidation,
00:40especially to the members of this Honorable Impeachment Court,
00:44lalong-lalo na po kay Senator Judge Lapid,
00:46who, if I may say, has been very gracious to us.
