Australia's oldest person turns 113 today. Ken Weeks is officially the second oldest man on the planet. He still makes his own bed and swears by a simple meal of steak and veggies.

00:06He has a set routine every day. He continues to do his exercises.
00:11It's this fierce independence that his family believes keeps him going.

00:51But Australians should start stockpiling the candles, with more and more of us tipped to reach this milestone.
00:58In 2019 there were more than 4,000 people over the age of 100.
01:03That's now risen to more than 8,000.
01:06By 2070 that figure is expected to be close to 60,000.
