00:03Gracias por ver el video.
00:41Gracias por ver el video.
01:21Gracias por ver el video.
06:28Gracias.
06:31As,
06:32when you announced the team,
06:34you said that you,
06:34the squad,
06:35you said you'd have to look at the style,
06:37the identity.
06:38We saw the style of the Premier League out there.
06:41Brilliant front four,
06:43brilliant support from the full backs.
06:45You've called it a brand of the Premier League, that it was a player's wish,
06:49but that you wanted that security from them if they're going man-on-man.
06:53Was that the agreement?
06:54Go out and play Premier League brand football, but secure your teammates too?
06:59Is that what you elaborate on?
07:00That's a nice summary, trying to summarise in one question
07:05what we're trying to build in months and months and months and weeks.
07:08Maybe it's like this.
07:10It's always an agreement.
07:11No, I never coached any team to follow my ideas.
07:16When you feel it's not the strength of the players, it's not the personality of the players,
07:21it's not the style of the club or the nature of the team itself.
07:27So it always needs to match and we tried to implement this since we arrived.
07:36I think we always played with a high energy off the ball.
07:38We always played with a kind of very aggressive style of the ball into high press
07:46and going into ball wins.
07:48Now we added another layer.
07:50The intensity was very high while we were on the ball.
07:53We did a lot of runs, a lot of counter movements,
07:55and a lot of high-intensity runs and invested a lot in counter-pressing when we had the ball.
08:06So it was a next step and it's always the same.
08:09The next match is the most important, not the last one.
08:12It's always the next proof of concept and the next proof of everything.
08:18So you need to be ready for the next one and not get carried away in what you did before.
08:24I found it interesting, post-match, you talked about in the second half there was no arrogance
08:29and there was a lot of humbleness.
08:30I think a lot of people think England don't carry enough swagger into World Cups,
08:35into European tournaments.
08:36But is it that balance of confidence, arrogance and being humble at the right time?
08:42Yeah, I like that we just kept pushing and we didn't care about the result
08:47and we just did what we did the whole first half.
08:50That made it a complete performance, that was what I meant.
08:54And not to make the opponent look silly and not to change our behaviour
09:02just because we were 4-0 or 5-0 ahead.
09:04That was very, very serious and that's what I liked.
09:07I think that's also part of Premier League and it's also part of style
09:11and it's part of English culture to just leave everything on the pitch,
09:16no matter what the result is.
09:17And I think the team does that, they did it in the World Cup and we did it in this
09:22camp.
09:23We had a lot of new players in camp, so it was not a given
09:27that we can install this kind of mentality and spirit straight away,
09:34but the players deserve full, full credit,
09:37especially the ones that were with us in the World Cup,
09:40took care that we straight away find the same kind of spirit.
09:44And the last match was proof of that.
09:47John?
09:47Thomas, Harry Kane equals the record to me.
09:51Well, presuming he does.
09:54Can you just talk about his importance to you,
09:56not just as a striker, but also as in...?
09:59I'm not sure if I have any more words because I feel like he scores all the time
10:04and he plays fantastic, he's in the shortlist for Ballon d'Or,
10:08so we spoke so often about him and then I tried to find new words
10:13which then make no sense and it's just like, yeah, it's just everything he does,
10:21he does it on the highest level and he does it consecutively and I think I told you,
10:27maybe not in a press conference, but I am very sure that this is an open training session today.
10:32I am very sure that he will be the one leading the team out on the pitch
10:36and he will be the one leading the team in the warm-up
10:38and not do one step less or one step slower,
10:44that's just the level that he shows.
10:47And in-game I think he had a fantastic game for us
10:52and he stepped up in intensity in his game and the effort in his game,
10:58since he takes this major role for Bayern Munich he found a new level
11:04and it's on and off the pitch highest level.
11:06It feels as if in every game that he plays he breaks a record at the moment.
11:10Yeah.
11:11I mean, he's equally won tomorrow, but is it his desire and determination
11:15and that you talked about that basically is leading the group?
11:18You know, I think all these No. 9s in the world,
11:24no matter in which league or in youth football,
11:28they are built a little bit different and they not only do it that their team wins,
11:35they do it, but they also do it for themselves, they do it for the records,
11:38how many can I score, how many can I assist,
11:41who is the best goal scorer in the league, whom do I have to overtake,
11:46where is the next record, that's just what drives them.
11:48And it's good that it drives them and you will not find any goal scorer of this calibre
11:55who has not these individual goals set up and pushing him to the limit.
12:03So that is totally... that is just what drives him.
12:07That is also what drives him and that's just how they are built and how Harry is built.
12:12Andy?
12:12Thomas, nice to see you. Obviously without giving too much away, are you looking to rotate your squad tomorrow night
12:19or is it all about keeping up that momentum? Because that was such an impressive performance, wasn't it?
12:23Yeah, both, both. I think, unfortunately, we talked about this, it's the second time we play Saturday, Tuesday.
12:30If the game was on Wednesday, I think there would be no need for a rotation at all.
12:36Tomorrow, my feeling is a little bit different because it's one day less and we had a flight in between.
12:44But it was an early kick-off, so it will be a mix, I guess. It will be a mix.
12:48And how keen are you to produce a similar kind of performance, I'm not just saying a 7-0, but
12:53in front of your own fans?
12:54Because it was brilliant to do that away from home, but I guess the next step is...
12:58Yeah, it's a good point. If a similar performance means 6-0 or 8-0, I just have to tell
13:03everyone we have the wrong expectations.
13:06We should not expect a result. If we expect a similar performance in terms of humbleness, attitude, intensity on and
13:15off the ball,
13:16yeah, that's what we want. That's the standard. It can look totally different and it will look totally different
13:22because it's a totally different set-up. And Czechia, by the way, gave Spain a lot of headache,
13:28so we see a clear improvement from the first to the third match in the Czech team.
13:34They asked a lot of questions. The statistics, the result, does not speak the language that we saw in improvement
13:43in their team.
13:44So, yeah, if we have the right expectations, we expect the same, but we should not over-expect now in
13:52terms of results
13:53and creating chances. It was what it was and it was very, very good.
14:00And, yeah, the things we can influence, we want to influence on the same level, but it can look different.
14:09Your explanation about Alex is perfectly plausible and understandable, etc.
14:13But on a human level, do you feel a bit bad about it in terms of Alex now goes back
14:20to Bournemouth as an injured player for a couple of months?
14:23On a human level, I feel bad that he has not the next cap tomorrow. That's how I feel bad
14:29about it.
14:29I feel just sad for him because we were in exchange all the time. And like I told you, even
14:35when he went out,
14:36like even on the day after, he didn't feel injured. So in my mind, he started tomorrow.
14:41So clear conscience from that point of view in terms of Bournemouth and all the rest of it?
14:44Yeah, 100%. I would not have taken any risk, even if it was like a big opportunity for him and
14:50even we wanted him to start.
14:52If I had the slightest idea that I take a risk, I would not have taken it. We never do
14:57this.
14:57In terms of the wider view of the four-game break, I believe, unless I'm wrong, that this is set
15:04in stone now with FIFA for, I think, until 2030.
15:08This is going to be a thing. It's got to be a contribution to things like this. The fact that
15:14you're in camp for longer, the players are longer,
15:18there are going to be more of these decisions to be made. It feels to me as if the whole,
15:22although results have gone OK,
15:23that the four-game thing has not been that satisfactory. I'm sure the clubs will be viewing it that way.
15:29For sure the clubs who suffer from injuries, but this is not always the case, even in shorter windows.
15:37We need to get the numbers right before we start making a case.
15:42Is it really more or was it the same amount of numbers in combined two little windows?
15:47I don't have the answer to that. I think the two-week window is not guilty for everything that you
15:58see.
15:58Every case is normally an individual case. If it is a thing, we will adapt to the thing and make
16:07the most out of it, like always.
16:08You sat here a fortnight ago, whenever it was, saying pretty confidently that you didn't like it,
16:15you didn't like the idea, you didn't like the idea. Now we're at the end of it. Have you changed
16:19your view?
16:19I think that, no, I didn't like the start of it after a long tournament to have again a long
16:27window.
16:27I think that was quite demanding on a level how to organise the travelling to be abroad
16:37and to be in camp for so long after a long, long tournament. There are also positives to it.
16:44I think what we see now in the performance against Croatia, having three matches together and hopefully see it tomorrow
16:50again,
16:51and we see it when we analyse Czech here, you see that the team is together for a longer period
16:56of time,
16:57more consecutive training sessions, more meetings about the same subjects, more of the same language.
17:02So you see, of course, improvements and you see the automatisms clicking in.
17:10This is clearly a positive and I think until now we made it a very, very good camp.
17:16So no complaints from that. If you ask me if I would have liked three camps
17:20to give even more players also the chance to impress in between the camps
17:24and then come and get a nomination, I would have liked three camps more.
17:29But yeah, it is just what it is. And like I said, we made the absolute most of it until
17:35today.
17:35It's not finished. But so far, it's a very positive camp.
17:40OK, Henry Wintour.
17:42We've got quite a few stacked up, so if you can keep it to one question per person ideally, that
17:45would be great.
17:47Hi Thomas, good luck. Good luck tomorrow.
17:49Thank you.
17:50In your experience, what makes a great player? Is it individual contribution?
17:54Is it trophies? Is it longevity? Thank you.
17:57Yeah, all of that, all of that in a mixed attitude, how good a teammate is he,
18:04how does he make his teammates around him better, more comfortable and then better.
18:09So all these things contribute and is he available, is he decisive?
18:17Hi Thomas, just going back to Alex, there's been some suggestion this morning of Bournemouth for unhappy,
18:24that he played against Croatia. Can I just check what your communication with the club's been since Saturday
18:30and if you do sense any unhappiness?
18:32We're in contact, we meaning not me, but the medical and physical department
18:37is always in contact with all the players who are with us.
18:43So we're sharing information, this is a totally open process.
18:46I can 100 per cent understand that Bournemouth is not happy and sad
18:51because they lose a key player, but I can just say from the moment when we took the decision
18:59to let him play, there was absolutely no risk whatsoever apparent to me
19:06or to our physical staff that we have a risk of an injury.
19:12He finished both training sessions, he did individual work after the training session.
19:17Yeah, it's a one-off.
19:20Thanks to James Holly.
19:21Hi Thomas, just following on from that.
19:23Has this been maybe the hardest camp for you to manage the relations with the clubs
19:28about how you use the players?
19:31No, because I'm not involved in that. I'm not involved in these discussions.
19:35I'm not involved in discussions with clubs, how to use them.
19:39I think the players are for two and a half weeks our players
19:43and as much as we trust the clubs to put the players' health first,
19:50I think the clubs have to trust and trust us that we put the players' health first.
19:55And you can see it in our team selections and that will never change.
19:59But two clubs asking for advice because then it would be an empty camp by now.
20:05It's four matches for us and this is the most important thing for these two and a half weeks.
20:10These four matches matter more than anything else.
20:13It's an honour, it's a pride, it's to play for your country.
20:18And this is where the focus is. So the players are top professional.
20:22For the players it means very, very much.
20:25You can see it in the way we play and in the way the group behaves.
20:29And this is the spirit that we want to have.
20:32Players are happy to stay and make themselves available.
20:35Players are desperate to come into camp.
20:37This is exactly what we want.
20:39This is the only way. It's the only way forward.
20:42Thank you.
20:50Hello, Janos Bartosz from Czech Media.
20:53I would like to ask you about the Czech team.
20:56You were spoken a little bit about our team.
20:59But in which skills do you see there or some weaknesses in the opposite side?
21:07And if you see there some like Spanish style after Santidenia came to the team?
21:12Yeah, we see a lot of Spanish style.
21:14I will not openly talk about any weaknesses and we try to finding always gaps
21:21if we analyse opponents and we try always to find advantages for us.
21:27But I think there is a lot of development within your squad.
21:31I feel them getting stronger and stronger, especially in their own half,
21:35in the deep build-up involving the goalkeeper,
21:38using players as wall players and escaping high pressure
21:43and going then into a fast attack.
21:45We see clear patterns of play, very flexible, very fluid.
21:51And yeah, it is quite demanding to take the ball off of them.
21:55You could even see it when they were playing with ten men against us
21:59and we dropped a little bit the intensity,
22:01we dropped a little bit the hunger towards the end of the second half
22:06when we were 2-0 up.
22:08Suddenly it was very difficult for us to catch the ball in the opponent's half
22:11and they could bring the game into our half.
22:14So this is, I think, the main development at the moment
22:18and it is clearly a Spanish handwriting to it in the formation and in the style of play.
22:25And that's what we are up for and I think we have to prepare the players
22:28that it is to not look at the table and to not look at the results.
22:34But we will show them evidence, of course, how much effort and how much team effort
22:41and coordinated press it takes to win the ball high.
22:47They will not just give it to us.
22:50Hi Thomas, Tyo from BCOMS.
22:52You have spoken previously in the past about the importance of maintaining perspective
22:56and not allowing football to become someone's entire identity.
23:01What responsibility do you feel that you have as it relates to just not winning football matches
23:06but helping players, especially the young players who come into the camp grow as individuals?
23:11And what does that look like?
23:12Yeah, I think it's a valid point because we sometimes, all of us,
23:18just we think we nominate young players and there are a lot of young players.
23:22Alex is one of them, Rio is one of them, Miles is still a very young player
23:26and sure I forgot some young ones and they are new or relatively new to our camp.
23:33And then sometimes you just think, OK, the coach saw some matches,
23:37he nominates a player and then the player comes, puts a shirt on
23:40and then he plays for England.
23:42But that's not how it works.
23:44And that's why I praised before the players who were with us at the World Cup
23:50because once you come into camp now, and I think this is what we built
23:54and what the team stands for, also as an identity is you come into an excellent dressing room
24:02and you come into a brilliant squad with amazing leaders and clear values,
24:09how to interact with each other, how to make players who are new feel comfortable
24:14and be the best version of themselves because that is very, very important.
24:20And I think this is what you see and what people feel in our performances.
24:25And you can always improve, you can always improve football-wise,
24:28but the energy that you feel since last September,
24:35consecutive what we built on, this is exactly what it is.
24:38And for that, to have that, players need to take care of the values
24:43and the standards of the pitch.
24:46We need to make sure that the young and new players feel comfortable
24:50and understand the rules, how this works here,
24:55but at the same time feel comfortable enough to express themselves
24:58and to take risks on the field and to feel comfortable,
25:01because without feeling comfortable you will never have a top performance.
25:05And that's why it's at the moment, I think, possible that players just come in.
25:09Louis Hall started the first time for us, before I forget him,
25:12and have performances like it seems like, seamlessly, they fit in.
25:18And this is the work that the team does off the pitch
25:21and they take care about that and make him feel comfortable.
25:25That's sometimes overseen in all the performance-driven environment.
25:30Can we finish with Jacob and then Jack?
25:32Hi, Thomas.
25:33Gerald Kwanza had another very good game on Saturday
25:37and got a very good assist,
25:39but do you need to have another look at Trent
25:41if he is to gain a better understanding of the game model
25:45you're trying to put in place?
25:48I think I have a clear picture of Trent,
25:50but if the question if he starts tomorrow,
25:52I will not answer the question,
25:53because we have one more training session to go.
25:55But yeah, he had a good match, he had a good assist.
25:59Gerald had also a very good match
26:02and maybe the game model suits him a little bit better,
26:07but it's then on us to use Trent in the best possible way.
26:11He has a big chance to start tomorrow and to play tomorrow,
26:14but it's one more training session to go.
26:16And we will take the decision later in the evening
26:21or maybe for some players in the morning tomorrow,
26:25but I think we do it today in the evening.
26:28Trent has a good chance to play.
26:31Last question.
26:32Hi, Thomas.
26:33You said earlier that the team has added another layer
26:37in terms of its intensity with the ball.
26:39Yeah.
26:39Was that your focus, your priority
26:42in the evolution of the team after the World Cup?
26:45I'm not sure if it was the focus.
26:48We had some slight twists in the tactical set-up
26:55to use the players.
26:57A little bit different after we saw them now
26:59in a tournament and under stress
27:01and we had the experiences together.
27:04Just trying to implement ideas, simplify the game
27:07because we don't have a lot of time together
27:09and play into our strengths.
27:12So once the team was available, once we knew what the team was,
27:17we started to build on what we already built.
27:23I can only repeat myself, I think it was not necessary to start new,
27:27it was not necessary for dramatic changes but for slight twists.
27:32And identify the key areas where we want to get a little bit better.
27:38And we have to get a little bit better in order to improve the process,
27:42in order to improve the team.
27:44And like always, I mean, we demand it but it's always like the level,
27:50how the players bought into that in training sessions and meetings
27:53and then how they translated it and transferred it onto the pitch
27:56was very, very good until today.
27:59So we have two more games, two more days to go, one more game to play
28:04and I hope we can finish on that kind of level.
28:08Thank you very much.
28:08We'll have Trevor Celleber with you shortly.
28:13Thank you.
28:20I'm joined by Trevor Celleber.
28:22Oh, it's here actually, Rob. I don't know why.
28:33Usual housekeeping rules apply, two questions per person.
28:35We'll start with Rob.
28:36Trevor, great to see you.
28:38I mean look, I know you want to play in every single game
28:40and you would have wanted to play in that game in Croatia
28:43but it was quite a special England performance to watch
28:47and there were only 100 England fans in there to watch it
28:49so you were as privileged as us to watch it.
28:52I wanted to get a defender's perspective please
28:55on England's attacking four at the moment.
28:57What makes them as dangerous as they are
28:59and do you believe they're the best in the world right now?
29:02Yeah, they're showing a very high level at the moment.
29:06Just goes to show that what they're doing at the club
29:08is amazing also.
29:10To then obviously bring that into the camp, into that game,
29:15watching from the bench, it was breathtaking.
29:18It could have been more goals.
29:20That's the scary thing about it.
29:22And yeah, to have those players in our team is amazing.
29:26You have to defend against them in training quite a lot.
29:28Yeah, obviously defending against those players is only going to improve us defenders.
29:34So it's a good thing we have them on our team and not in the opposition.
29:38What we saw and what Harry Kane told us afterwards is there's a new fluidity
29:42that they've been trying to work with where they all cover for each other
29:44and they could pop up.
29:45Harry Kane was dropping deep, Duke Bellingham was going up at number nine
29:48beyond Harry Kane at times.
29:50How difficult is that from a defender's perspective?
29:53Yeah, it's very difficult.
29:55And that's not something that's trained also.
29:57It just happens.
29:58Because of their IQ, because of the way they just understand each other.
30:02It's a thing that just comes naturally and yeah, it's difficult to stop.
30:05And as I said, it's good that we have them on our team.
30:08Hi Trevor, you've made the move to Como now, so how has that been
30:13and how will that move help you, do you think, playing for England going forward?
30:16Oh yeah, it's been amazing so far.
30:18It's different.
30:19Obviously playing abroad before in my loan spells in France,
30:23it obviously feels a bit similar in terms of the culture, the language
30:26and yeah, I'm loving it so far every minute.
30:30And it's a good thing that a lot of us England players as well
30:33are playing abroad to bring that experience into the camp.
30:36And yeah, it's been good.
30:37A lot of the players that are playing abroad at the moment have performed well in this camp.
30:41Do you think there's something in there or it's just a coincidence?
30:43No, I just think it's just the level that they're showing, you know,
30:46that they've had to then bring into the camp and it's something special.
30:52Andy?
30:52Sorry about Andy from ITV News, hope you're well.
30:55You'll have obviously seen the sad news about Alex and Esri withdrawing from the squad.
30:59How much of a topic are injuries among the players?
31:02It's not just England players withdrawing.
31:04We've seen Haaland pull out for Norway as well.
31:08You know, is there too much football being played, do you think?
31:10Well, you could say that or it's just unfortunate, you know.
31:14You know, football is unpredictable in terms of injuries.
31:16You can never know.
31:17You can be feeling great.
31:18You can be doing everything right.
31:20But then things happen, you know.
31:22So you've lost those two players now.
31:24They're massive players and massive part of the squad.
31:27And with this is that we have players that are ready to go, you know.
31:31I'm ready to step in.
31:32But do you personally feel happy with your workload?
31:36Do you feel like you're fit and raring to go?
31:39Or do you feel like you're playing too much football?
31:41Yeah, I feel like I'm happy.
31:43I'm ready to go.
31:44I'm fit.
31:45As I said, everyone looks after their body, you know.
31:46As I said, it's an unfortunate thing when it comes to injuries.
31:49It can just happen, you know.
31:50So, yeah.
31:52Good luck for tomorrow, thank you.
31:53Gary, thanks.
31:57Trevor, Tuchel's talked about talking to you all about
32:00what you want the identity of this England team to be
32:02and the key adjustments you've made since the World Cup.
32:05Can you elaborate on what those are?
32:07Certainly fluidity and responsibility as well.
32:10I think, yeah, definitely.
32:12Reflecting from the World Cup,
32:15we all realise that, obviously, we need to have a 90-minute performance.
32:18It's something that we obviously decided that
32:23we need to be doing more often now.
32:25And, obviously, we showed that in the Croatia game.
32:27And, for us, it's just about that consistency, you know.
32:29Just to go in the game and do that throughout the 90 minutes
32:34in order for us to take that next step,
32:36which I think this is key for us to do.
32:39The Czechia coach was, famously, the Spanish youth coach,
32:43helped transform this Spanish side that we now see.
32:46The world champions won an Olympic gold with them.
32:49He's talked about what he sees, England, as one of the top three teams.
32:53He believes the World Cup finals are in their future,
32:55potentially winning the World Cup,
32:57and that Spain also had to make those key adjustments.
32:59But he said this week that Anthony Gordon reminds him of Lamine Yamel
33:04because of the level he's playing at.
33:06What do you make of that as a person that goes man-to-man with him?
33:10Yeah, Anthony Gordon is on a high level at the moment.
33:13Obviously, when you're playing in a Barcelona team,
33:16you're only going to improve, you know.
33:17He's showing his qualities.
33:19And, as I said, it's good that we have him on our team.
33:21And, as I said, the fluidity that that front line has is really good.
33:25And, yeah, it's just going to keep getting better and better.
33:29Go back to the third round.
33:31Thank you.
33:33Hi, Trevor. Tyro from BCOMS.
33:35So your faith has been quite a visible part of your journey,
33:40inspiring, I would say.
33:42How has your relationship with God shaped how you approach football
33:46and life in general?
33:47For me, it's the key, I think.
33:50It's what I have really in me.
33:52It's what I've carried me everywhere I go
33:54in terms of any setbacks, in terms of any struggles.
33:57And I feel like it's a journey that I love.
34:02For me, it's one thing that I enjoy the setbacks,
34:05or I enjoy those moments where things aren't going your way,
34:08because I feel that's a way of God shaping you, God making you.
34:11And, for me, if it wasn't for that, then yeah,
34:14I wouldn't be where I am today.
34:15And it's important to be grounded also,
34:18especially to have a family where they've, obviously,
34:22my faith has been implemented in us.
34:27And yeah, for me, it's the number one.
34:30And secondly, I guess you sort of touched on it just a minute ago.
34:34What message, obviously I don't want to put you on the spot for Bible verse,
34:36but what message would you sort of have for someone who needs to sort of understand
34:42how to sort of stay grounded during like a difficult period?
34:46Matthew 37.
34:47You may not know now, but later on, you're on the sun.
34:50So I think in that situation that I'm in, I may not know what's going on at the moment.
34:56But I know, once I get through that, I'll know exactly what God was doing,
34:59and the reason why I was going through that.
35:03Thank you. God bless.
35:05Hi, Trevor. It's Ami from BCombs.
35:08You've had to stay patient for many different opportunities throughout your career.
35:11I wanted to know, how do you keep the mindset of believing in your ability and staying ready,
35:15even when you may not get the minutes and opportunities that you wish?
35:19Again, for me, it's my faith that keeps me ready.
35:23It keeps me ready for what's to come.
35:26And yeah, as a footballer, it's important to always be ready.
35:30You never know what happens.
35:33Throughout my career, it's been like that.
35:35Whether if I'm playing or whether I'm out of the team or I'm not getting minutes,
35:40I know my time will come.
35:42And for us players, it's important when you do get that time to take it with both hands.
35:46Thank you.
35:48Any questions?
35:50I think we're done.
35:51Thank you very much.
35:52Cheers.
