00:04Halloween's coming up.
00:05You guys ready?
00:06Ooh.
00:08Wow.
00:09Okay.
00:10Yeah.
00:11It's spooky season.
00:12It's so scary.
00:13It is spooky season,
00:13but a lot of Americans aren't feeling as festive
00:16as they usually do when it comes to costumes and stuff.
00:19I know, and that makes me a little sad.
00:20I was walking the dog this weekend,
00:22and I noticed that there are a couple houses
00:24that have littles that are all decked out,
00:27but I feel like a lot of the houses in my neighborhood
00:30that do decorate for Halloween haven't this year,
00:33and I don't know if they haven't yet
00:34or if they're kind of feeling this lull
00:38that the rest of America seems to be feeling.
00:40A new survey shows only 76% of Americans,
00:44or up to 76% of Americans,
00:47say that they don't plan to dress up at all
00:49for Halloween this year.
00:5176%.
00:51I don't like it.
00:53I don't like it either.
00:55I usually, Leonard and I always dress up,
00:57because our kids dress up,
00:58and we love Halloween.
01:00So while we don't decorate our house,
01:02we always decorate ourselves.
01:03Right.
01:05That makes a difference.
01:06I mean, dressing up yourself,
01:07most people will decorate their house
01:09and not decorate themselves.
01:10I think that's next mile.
01:12We just opened up all of our old costumes,
01:15and we're rifling through,
01:17like we're going to sell some online
01:19or donate some or whatever,
01:20like adult costumes, mind you.
01:22Okay.
01:22But our daughter McKinley
01:23has told us seven different things
01:25she wants us to be with her.
01:27So we're trying to play catch up.
01:29I was a pumpkin,
01:29then I was a ghost,
01:30then I was Kristoff,
01:31then I was a million other things.
01:33So we're trying to get her
01:34to land on something.
01:35Well, this is a whole thing
01:36when it comes to kids too, Jeff,
01:38just that they will change their mind
01:4014,000 times leading up to Halloween.
01:42So you make sure Emily does not buy
01:45the costumes too early.
01:47Right.
01:47It's got to be almost the week before.
01:49Well, she wants to be a witch now,
01:51which I'm like,
01:51you don't even know any witches,
01:53but okay.
01:54So Emily bought her a leotard
01:57because she's in dance class
01:58that's black.
01:59Perfect.
02:00With like a tutu.
02:00And she's like,
02:01I already have a hat,
02:02so if anything,
02:05this will work for dance class.
02:07I'm like, smart, Emily.
02:09Yeah.
02:09Very smart.
02:10She's good.
02:11She's good.
02:12She's smart.
02:13I love her.
02:13And then once the kids
02:14get to be teenagers,
02:15everything turns into a zombie.
02:17Like, I remember Tori
02:19went through the phase of,
02:20I want to be this,
02:21I want to be that,
02:21and then we finally get her a costume
02:22and she's like,
02:23oh no,
02:24I really wanted to be a zombie.
02:25And I was like,
02:26well,
02:26now you can be a zombie police officer
02:28because when we were at
02:29the Halloween store,
02:31you wanted to be a police officer
02:32and you loved that cute little costume.
02:34But one of the other trends
02:35that's going away
02:36is the sexy costume.
02:39Really?
02:40Yeah.
02:40Why?
02:41I know Donnie's really upset about that.
02:42Come on.
02:43Yeah,
02:44people are saying that
02:44if they dress up,
02:45they just don't feel the need
02:46to show the skin
02:49and,
02:50you know,
02:50they just want it,
02:51like,
02:51they want it to either be funny
02:52or scary
02:53and not sexy.
02:56Donnie is not too pleased.
02:58Yeah,
02:58why,
02:58man?
02:59Come on.
03:00I know.
03:00You have to be careful
03:01when,
03:02maybe I shouldn't have even brought it up
03:03in this climate.
03:05Yeah,
03:06no.
03:06Ban this.
03:07Right,
03:08exactly.
03:08Exactly.
03:09Donnie,
03:09what are you,
03:10I'm shocked you didn't go this far,
03:11though?
03:12I mean,
03:12I thought you were going to say
03:13something along the lines
03:13of every costume
03:14that you wear,
03:15Donnie,
03:15is sexy.
03:16No,
03:16some have not been.
03:18My parents,
03:19for some reason,
03:22they had to have wanted a girl
03:23because my brother and I
03:25were dressed as females
03:26a lot when we were younger.
03:27I was dressed as a bride.
03:29No.
03:29I swear,
03:30I got somebody's communion,
03:31like a girl's communion dress.
03:33No way.
03:33I dressed up as a bride
03:34and my brother dressed up
03:35as a cheerleader one year.
03:37Oh my gosh.
03:38Our parents definitely
03:38wanted daughters.
03:39I love that.
03:40If I find a picture,
03:41I will try to find a picture
03:43of me as a bride.
03:44It actually explains a lot.
03:45Yes,
03:46it does.
03:46My mom hated Halloween
03:48when I was growing up,
03:50so I remember first grade,
03:51we got to dress up
03:52and go to school
03:53and we got to parade around
03:55and the teachers gave us candy
03:56and I dressed as Betsy Ross.
04:00Oh my gosh.
04:01There are no first graders
04:02that know who Betsy Ross is.
04:04no.
04:04I wore literally
04:05my grandmother's wig.
04:06Like, I had,
04:07my grandmother was like,
04:08you know,
04:09like an old study baba
04:10with a wig.
04:11Yeah, yeah.
04:11And a knitted crochet,
04:14like, shawl that she had.
04:16And you brought a rocking chair
04:17with you to school, right?
04:18I know, right?
04:18So you could just be there
04:19with your knitting needles.
04:20And I carried a little flag
04:21and I would have to explain
04:23to people that I was Betsy Ross
04:24and that I was actually dressed
04:26in my grandmother's clothes
04:27because she was very small
04:28and I was still not,
04:29I was always very tall,
04:31even in first grade,
04:31and who Betsy Ross was.
04:33So it was like a learning experience,
04:34which was not fun for me
04:35or my friends.
04:37You're like,
04:37it's a history,
04:38it's like career day.
04:39Yeah.
04:40And like,
04:41everyone's like,
04:41and who are you?
04:42Well, in 1721,
04:45you know,
04:45like,
04:45my best friend
04:46was strawberry shortcake.
04:47How cute is that?
04:48That's adorable.
04:50And I'm Betsy Ross.
04:50I'mculus.
04:51I hope so.
04:52I don't know.
04:52I hope so.
04:54Bye.
