00:00The United Nations says at least 150,000 people have fled their homes in Yemen
00:06due to renewed fighting that has killed hundreds.
00:09This follows the rapid advance by the Iran-backed Houthi fighters
00:13down the country's western coast to the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in recent weeks.
00:18The rebel group has been involved in clashes with the Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces.
00:27We came under attack by the Houthis at around 6pm
00:31and we left our home with nothing but the clothes we were wearing.
00:34The children and their mother had no idea what was happening.
00:37I told them we have to flee.
00:39The Houthi militia has taken control of the city of Haze
00:43and the shelling and bombardment were falling on us.
00:47It got to the point where a mortar shell landed right next to the door of our house.
00:54The UN Population Fund says its rapid response mechanism
00:58is providing everyday household items
01:01as well as helping women, families and children
01:03to get through their first five days of displacement.
01:08I was displaced from Haze.
01:10A mortar shell was fired at us so my children and I fled our home.
01:13I don't know where we're going.
01:15We're now displaced and have no identity cards, no passports, nothing.
01:19We left all our belongings behind.
01:21Our children are now out of school.
01:23We want help from humanitarian organizations.
01:26We need homes, schools and hospitals.
01:30Displaced people with their children can be seen living in tents
01:33with some saying that they don't have anything apart from their clothes
01:36while they line up to register and receive aid.
01:40Our concern also is addressed towards the people who are currently living in the areas affected by very low security
01:49because they are hard to reach.
01:52Access has become very difficult for the authorities, for service providers, for the humanitarian organizations.
01:59And so we are also looking with our partners and the service providers who are still in the most affected
02:06locations
02:07by contacting them regularly how they can continue assisting the people in need.
02:15Before the recent escalation, more than 5.2 million people were already internally displaced inside Yemen,
02:22which has seen more than a decade of conflict and economic collapse.
02:29Perhaps now has become more than a percentage of DRC, or 710ac, at вами now.
