00:00Michael Jordan's $70 million jet is literally painted like his sneakers.
00:04Oprah Winfrey went even bigger with a $75 million Gulfstream that has a shower on board
00:09and her birth year hidden inside the tail number.
00:12Ten black billionaires fly like this,
00:13and the very first jet on our list started with a phone call from an airport payphone,
00:18Oprah's payphone jet.
00:19Back in April 1991, Oprah Winfrey got stuck in a four-hour delay at Chicago O'Hare.
00:25A fan asked why she wasn't hugging people like she did on TV.
00:28So Oprah gave her a hug, walked straight to a payphone, and called her lawyer to buy a plane.
00:33That one call got her a Gulfstream IV for about $20 million,
00:36and she has been leveling up ever since,
00:39moving through a Global Express, a G550, and a G650 Air
00:43that she reportedly dropped another $10 million on just to customize.
00:46These days, she rides a Gulfstream G700 built in 2024, which she picked up in February 2025.
00:53The cabin is split into five zones with a shower, an N-suite bathroom, and a full conference room,
00:58and it tops out at Mach 0.935, which is basically airliners getting lapped speed.
01:03The coolest detail is the tail number, N54 the Uep Jew, where 54 stands for her birth year,
01:09and W stands for Winfrey.
01:10She has carried that same stamp across more than one jet, which is peak main character energy.
01:15It costs more than $3 million a year to run,
01:18and she still calls her jet one of the best investments she ever made.
01:22Oprah put her birthday on her plane,
01:23but the next legend went way harder and painted his whole jet like a pair of shoes.
01:28Air Jordan in the Sky
01:30When Michael Jordan's new jet landed at Palm Beach in October 2024,
01:34the internet lost its mind over the paint alone.
01:37It is a Gulfstream G650 UR worth about $70 million,
01:41wrapped in gray elephant print lifted straight off the Air Jordan 3,
01:45and that custom paint job reportedly cost half a million dollars.
01:48Its very first trip took him to Talladega for a NASCAR race on October 6, 2024,
01:54because his team, 2311 Racing, was on the track that day.
01:57The tail number is pure flex, since N236MJs means 23 for his jersey,
02:026 for his rings, and MJ for his initials.
02:05Inside, the jet can fit up to 19 passengers across four living areas,
02:09with a private bedroom, a full galley, and beds for up to 10.
02:13It also reportedly has a cigar station just like his old jet,
02:17because the goat needs his smoke brakes.
02:19His old G550, which he bought used back in 2006,
02:22was re-registered and sold in 2024, once the new jet showed up.
02:26Flight trackers also reportedly logged about 392 flights in 2022,
02:31which works out to more than one takeoff every single day.
02:34Jordan turned his jet into a sneaker,
02:36but the next couple hid their entire love story inside a tail number.
02:39The Carter's Triple Four Jet
02:41Four months after Blue Ivy was born in 2012,
02:45Beyonce reportedly gave Jay-Z a Bombardier Challenger 850,
02:49worth about $40 million as a Father's Day gift.
02:52That jet reportedly came with a cream leather living room,
02:55a kitchen, a bedroom, and two bathrooms,
02:57which makes a tie and a card look pretty weak.
02:59Later, the couple moved up to a Bombardier Global 7,500,
03:03worth about $75 million,
03:05registered to Mav4 LLC, a New York company.
03:08The tail number is N4444 and,
03:11and all those fours are no accident,
03:13because Jay-Z was born on December 4th,
03:15Beyonce was born on September 4th,
03:17and they got married on April 4th.
03:18Inside, the cabin runs four zones with nuage seats
03:22that lean back into a zero-gravity position,
03:24plus a pure air system that swaps out all the cabin air in under 90 seconds.
03:29Running it costs about $2.3 million a year,
03:32and in 2024 alone, the jet logged 61 flights and about 150 hours in the air.
03:38Most recently, N44440 flew from Long Island to London on September 21st,
03:432026, crossing the ocean in 5 hours and 51 minutes.
03:47The Carters built their jet around lucky numbers,
03:49but the next one got famous because fans track it to predict golf news.
03:53Tiger's comeback tracker
03:54In March 2022, a little over a year after his car crash,
03:58nobody knew if Tiger Woods would play the Masters until his Gulfstream landed at Augusta,
04:02and Golf Twitter did the rest.
04:04He played that tournament and made the cut.
04:06The jet is a 2008 Gulfstream G550 registered N517TW,
04:11and the tail number hides a secret.
04:12It used to be N517QS, a NetJet's plane.
04:16So Tiger bought a used jet that spent about 10 years flying other people around,
04:20then kept the 517 and slapped his own initials on it.
04:24That fits because NetJets was one of the few sponsors that stuck with him through 2009
04:28when AT&T, Accenture, and Gatorade all walked away.
04:32Headlines call it a $53 million jet,
04:35which was the sticker price for a new G550,
04:38while a used 2008 model is worth about $12 to $18 million.
04:42The cabin holds up to 19 people,
04:45and the air pressure inside feels like 6,000 feet,
04:48a big deal for a guy with a fused back and a rebuilt leg
04:51who still has to walk 18 holes after landing.
04:53In 2024, it made 41 flights, mostly to tournament cities.
04:57Tiger bought used and kept things quiet,
05:00but the next legend has been flying the same 44-year-old plane for about 20 years on purpose.
05:05Magic's Vintage Flex
05:07Out of every billionaire jet on this list,
05:09the oldest one belongs to Magic Johnson,
05:11who is worth $1.6 billion and flies a 1982 Gulfstream III registered N32MJ.
05:18The tail number mixes 32,
05:20his Lakers jersey, with MJ for his initials,
05:22and he has owned the plane since 2005.
05:25Before Magic, this jet went through 10 different registrations and 12 owners,
05:29so his run is now the longest time it has ever spent with one owner.
05:32The owner on paper is Magic Johnson Entertainment Inc.,
05:35and it flies about 4,200 miles on one trip.
05:38Then 2020 happened when the Lakers and the Dodgers both won championships in the same year.
05:43Since Magic owns a piece of both teams,
05:45he gave the jet a combined Dodgers and Lakers paint job,
05:48with his number 32 on both winglets in each team's colors and the Lakers logo on the tail.
05:52The plane doesn't fly very often these days,
05:54which is fair for a jet that is now 44 years old.
05:57Plane spotters still go crazy when it shows up,
05:59because a clean classic Gulfstream is a rare treat.
06:01Magic kept one old plane forever,
06:03but the next billionaire used to be terrified of flying and now owns four aircraft.
06:08Tyler Perry's Fear to Fleet
06:10After 9-11, Tyler Perry had a severe fear of flying,
06:14which gets awkward when you also own a private island in the Bahamas with no airport.
06:18He fixed it by earning his pilot's license in April 2023,
06:21and now he flies his own Cirrus SR-22T.
06:24His flagship is a Bombardier Global 7,500 that went into service in January 2025,
06:30worth about $75 million new.
06:33It seats up to 19 people and wears a thin, shiny, metallic brown stripe across a white body.
06:38He even moved his TP tail number onto it,
06:40so his Embraer Lineage 1000,
06:42a converted airliner that cost about $52.5 million new,
06:46had to take a new registration.
06:48Then there is his Gulfstream 3,
06:50which gets called a $125 million jet.
06:53A used one is really worth only a few million dollars,
06:56so that huge number reportedly covers years of custom work,
06:59like seats that turn into beds,
07:01a full galley,
07:02a conference room with satellite links,
07:04and a private suite with a shower.
07:06In January 2018,
07:07he sold an old Gulfstream V to televangelist Kenneth Copeland
07:11for a reported $5.9 million.
07:13Perry built a four-plane fleet,
07:15but Africa's richest man says he had his first jet before he even turned 23.
07:20Dangata's jet confession
07:21At his refinery's IPO launch on September 14, 2026,
07:26Aliko Dangote revealed that he got his first private jet at $22.5,
07:30then told rich Nigerians to put their money into production, instead of planes.
07:34He even talked about spending 30 minutes looking for a parking space in Abuja
07:38because it was packed with private jets,
07:40and the internet had questions,
07:42with some people asking if the guy with a jet at $22 should be the one giving this speech.
07:46His own flex is a 2020 Bombardier Global 7,500 listed for up to $78 million.
07:52It seats a team with a four-seat club area,
07:55a six-seat dining suite,
07:56and a private stateroom,
07:58plus heated floors and a built-in bidet,
08:00because cold toes at 40,000 feet are not allowed.
08:02Before that, he bought a Bombardier Global Express XRS for $45.5 million
08:07as a gift to himself on his 53rd birthday.
08:10It carries up to 15 people,
08:12with a high-temperature oven,
08:13an espresso maker,
08:14and a crew rest area.
08:15Both jets have been put up for sale,
08:17and a similar XRS was listed for just $18.5 million,
08:21which shows how fast these things lose value.
08:24Dangati is trimming his fleet,
08:26but the next billionaire's jet bill got so big
08:28that Wall Street started doing math on it.
08:31Karp's Mystery Plane
08:32Palantir's co-founder Alex Karp is the richest Black American,
08:36worth $13.4 billion,
08:38and the model of his jet has never been made public.
08:40What we do know comes straight from Palantir's own filing,
08:44which says Karp flies on an aircraft he personally owns for both business and personal trips.
08:49The company paid $17.2 million for that jet in 2025,
08:53up from $7.7 million the year before.
08:56Analysts at Jefferies ran the numbers,
08:58and at mid-size jet prices that comes out to about 2,457 hours in the air,
09:03or roughly 28% of the entire year.
09:05Even if he flew a pricey G650,
09:08the math still lands at around 1,147 hours.
09:12For comparison, Mark Zuckerberg's jet costs came to about $1.8 million,
09:17which suddenly looks like pocket change.
09:19Michael Burry, the investor from The Big Short,
09:22roasted the spending on X,
09:23pointing out that the jet isn't even a rental.
09:25Karp flies close to a third of the year.
09:28The company covers the tab,
09:29and the plane itself stays totally anonymous,
09:32which is peak tech billionaire energy.
09:34Karp keeps his jet a secret,
09:35but the next billionaire announced his on Instagram,
09:38and it is the fastest plane on this whole list.
09:41Rabiu's Speed Machine
09:42In June 2026,
09:44BUA group boss Abdul Samad Rabiu
09:46posted a short thank you to God on Instagram,
09:49announcing his new Bombardier Global 8000 worth about $81 million.
09:54The deal was reportedly signed on December 4, 2025,
09:57at BUA's Dubai office,
09:59and with a custom cabin,
10:00a jet like this can climb to $85 to $95 million.
10:04This thing is the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde,
10:07topping out at Mach 0.95 with 8,000 nautical miles of range.
10:12The cabin air feels like you're only 2,691 feet up,
10:16the lowest of any business jet being built,
10:18so jet lag basically gets left on the runway.
10:20Inside, there are four living spaces,
10:23a crew suite,
10:24and an extra large kitchen,
10:25plus soleil lighting that fights jet lag and nuage seats,
10:28with a zero-gravity position.
10:30A hospital-grade HEPA filter replaces all the cabin air in as little as 90 seconds.
10:34It joins a Challenger 350 for short hops and a Global 6,500 for long trips,
10:40giving BUA one of the strongest corporate fleets in Africa.
10:43The very first Global 8000 only went into service in December 2025,
10:47which puts Rabiu among the earliest owners anywhere.
10:50Rabiu went for pure speed,
10:52but our last billionaire gave his jet a name after one of his grandchildren.
10:58Nigeria's famously private telecom boss, Mike Adanuga,
11:02flies a Dassault Falcon 8X registered VPCPD and nicknamed Sisi Paris.
11:07According to a former aide who worked for him for 16 years,
11:10the jet is named after one of his grandchildren,
11:13which is about the most personal detail the world has ever gotten about him.
11:16The Falcon 8X cost $58 million new and sells for about $51 million today.
11:22It flies 6,450 nautical miles, has satellite internet that keeps working over the ocean,
11:28and Dassault calls it the quietest cabin in the industry.
11:30It also packs 33 windows, color-changing lights,
11:34and a system that raises cabin humidity by at least 20%,
11:37so even the air on board gets the luxury treatment.
11:40Sisi Paris is only one part of the fleet,
11:42because Adanuga also owns a Global Express XRS and a Challenger 604.
11:47His planes fly mostly out of Lagos to places like Abuja, Accra, Johannesburg, and London,
11:52and the Falcon alone burns about 280 gallons of fuel every hour.
11:56From payphone dreams to sneaker paint and grandkid nicknames,
11:59these 10 jets prove that the richest black people on the planet never fly the same way twice.
12:04If you had to pick one of these jets for yourself,

12:10so you never miss our next look inside how the richest people on the planet really live.
