A potential Iranian involvement in the Flydubai flight hijack bid is being investigated, raising concerns over severe escalation across West Asia involving Israel, the United States, and Sunni Gulf nations. The discussion notes that the pilot involved is Omani, highlighting regional flight agreements and Muscat's delicate diplomatic position. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cited radicalisation and jihadist ideology behind the attempt. Observers suggest that while Israel remained the target near the anniversary of the October 7 attacks, the plot also posed a major risk to the Abraham Accords and ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

00:00In yesterday, I also earlier spoke to David Spector from the New York Post
00:04on the possible involvement of Iran in the Dubai flight IJAC bid.
00:10These are concerning claims or at least an angle that's now being looked at,
00:15a possible angle of Tehran being involved behind the planning of this very attack.
00:21If indeed found true, it would bring about a whole different level of escalation to the West Asia war
00:28that's already been stretched out for far too long without any definite conclusions.
00:36Yes, and first of all, good morning, Shia. Good morning to the good people of India.
00:41It's a pleasure and an honor to be joining you in your TV screens this morning.
00:45You're absolutely right. It would potentially drastically escalate the war between Iran, Israel,
00:53the United States and the Sunni Gulf states in the region if it is indeed true that they're behind this.
01:00Now, President Trump's remark is not the same thing as a fully concluded intelligence assessment,
01:07but there is also Israeli reporting that the UAE is also starting to suspect that Iran might be behind this
01:15plot.
01:16You know, David, I'll have to bring one thing up here, and this is something that was a question even
01:25yesterday
01:25when the initial details of this entire flight had come in.
01:29The fact that this pilot, firstly, is an Omani pilot, if we go back to the Israeli UAE treaty,
01:36it does state that pilots or flying crew that will be flying to Israel have to be from nations
01:46which share a good relation with Israel.
01:51So if Oman plays in, I mean, from what I understand, my knowledge of the entirety of the matter,
01:59Oman doesn't fall in the list of those countries, does it?
02:03No, no, it does not. And additionally, Oman has been on the United States bad side throughout the negotiations with
02:12Iran.
02:13They were essentially kicked out as mediators by the United States over a feeling that they were too close with
02:20Iran
02:21and they were double dealing or not being honest with the U.S. in these talks.
02:26So Oman is a very precarious position in this entire conflict.
02:31There was Israeli reporting, I believe, in the Times of Israel that was saying that while, yes,
02:37that was the agreement regarding pilots and crew, in reality, there have been many instances
02:43of Omani pilots flying to Tel Aviv.
02:48Trump and Bibi, now Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
02:54have come out and has come out and said that this was a radicalized pilot and jihadist ideology.
03:02And that's what has been said so far.
03:04And we have a lot more to see as the investigation continues.
03:09Something interesting, though, is if Iran is behind this,
03:13the target, while, of course, would be Israel, obviously, it's not so far away from the anniversary
03:22of the October 7th attacks.
03:24But the target, actually, you brought up friendly countries with Israel,
03:27is also the existence of the Abraham Accords.
03:30This attack could have done tremendous damage to the Israeli-Emirati relationship.
03:36I hate to say that.
