Chocolate prices rose. Ethical labels multiplied. Yet cocoa-growing families can remain at the most fragile end of a global supply chain.

This evidence-based investigation follows cocoa from farms in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire through traders, processors, manufacturers and supermarkets. It examines price shocks, child-labour risks, certification limits and the EU rules that will require cocoa to be linked to deforestation-free land from the end of 2026.
