00:03Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at 10 of the most infamous mysteries in the world of music that
00:08remain unsolved to this day.
00:10I said that's not the Bobby I know.
00:13Who Killed DJ Scott LaRock?
00:15Boogie Down Productions burst onto the scene with the future legend KRS-One at the helm, alongside D-Nice and
00:21DJ Scott LaRock.
00:28In 1987, LaRock was shot and killed in the Bronx while trying to help resolve a dispute involving his bandmate,
00:34D-Nice.
00:35After driving over to the South Bronx in an attempt to defuse the situation, their vehicle was hit by gunfire.
00:41LaRock was struck in the back of the head, and later died in the hospital.
00:44Suspects in the case were later acquitted, and the incident remained shrouded in mystery.
00:49Like I said, six people in the jeep.
00:53No extra bullets.
00:55He gets hit twice.
01:00No missed shot over here, over there.
01:03He gets hit twice.
01:04His death is said to be the first murder of a major hip-hop artist, an unfortunate title for a
01:1025-year-old musician who had so much more to give to his craft.
01:16Who killed Charlene Sanchez and what was on the mysterious note he received.
01:20The story of Charlene Sanchez is truly a chilling tale, and one that still has many questions within it that
01:27remain unanswered.
01:35In 1992, video footage of his final concert shows an eerie moment where someone handed him a folded note.
01:42Upon reading, you can see the singer's expression change.
01:45The note is widely believed to be some form of death threat, though its contents remain unverified.
01:50After leaving the venue, Sanchez was intercepted by armed men who presented themselves as police, and claimed a commander wanted
01:57to see him.
01:57His body was found hours later near an irrigation canal, blindfolded and bearing gunshot wounds.
02:03His hands were tied behind his back, he was shot twice in the back of the head.
02:06Oof.
02:06To this day, we don't know exactly what happened, whether it was a personal feud, cartel violence, or something else.
02:21Where did Glenn Miller's plane disappear over the English Channel?
02:24When it comes to the big band era, Glenn Miller was one of the period's standout stars.
02:36In fact, between 1939 and 1942, Glenn Miller and his orchestra were the best-selling band in the entire world.
02:43Tragically, in 1944, a plane carrying Miller to a show in France disappeared while flying over the English Channel.
02:50No wreckage was ever found.
02:51In light of the growing belief that Miller's plane crashed on land, these airplane archaeologists may soon uncover the final
02:59fate of the great band leader.
03:01Theories range from accidental friendly fire by British bombers, to the pilots simply being inexperienced.
03:07Miller was officially declared dead the following year, although no evidence of the crash was ever recovered.
03:12And the fate of Glenn Miller's lost flight has been a mystery ever since.
03:16What really happened to Richie Edwards after he vanished?
03:19Right at the peak of the Manic Street Preachers fame in the 1990s, the band's guitarist, Richie Edwards, vanished, leaving
03:26behind one of Rock's most infamous mysteries.
03:33He was due to fly to the United States when he vanished from his London hotel.
03:37He had withdrawn substantial amounts of cash, suggesting he was planning some kind of departure, although his intentions remain unclear.
03:44The day, the kind of Richie were missing, a huge part of our kind of rock and roll died.
03:50His car was later found abandoned near the Severn Bridge, but no further evidence has ever come to light.
03:55I appeal today, if anybody knows anything, to just come forward.
03:58His bandmates and family could only speculate on what had actually happened, making this a truly unique unsolved case within
04:05the context of modern music history.
04:13Who ordered the mysterious attempt on Bob Marley's life?
04:16Despite creating some of the most uplifting music of his time, Bob Marley was the target of what appeared to
04:21be a politically motivated assassination attempt in 1976.
04:30Seven armed men attacked Marley's Hope Road Home, two days before he was scheduled to perform a free concert, shooting
04:37Marley, Rita Marley, manager Don Taylor, and another associate.
04:47Marley was politically neutral on paper, but his influence was clear, and Jamaica was then consumed by violence due to
04:53an upcoming election.
04:54The identity of the assailants remains unknown.
04:56Against all odds, he still performed the show 36 hours later, despite sustaining gunshot wounds to his arm and chest.
05:09Who really recorded the mysterious northern soul classic, Peanut Duck?
05:13Few songs in the history of music have carried as much mystery around them as the northern soul classic, Peanut
05:19Duck.
05:26This novelty dance track seems pretty normal on the surface, but what's strange about it is that nobody actually knows
05:32who recorded it.
05:33It went unreleased in the 1960s, until a DJ got a hold of it in the 80s, putting it out
05:38as a bootleg under the name Marsha G.
05:40Although this was the name of a real singer, she was not responsible for performing this track.
05:50Despite decades of speculation, everything from the singer herself to the musicians who played on it remains completely unknown.
06:03What happened to singer-songwriter Connie Converse after vanishing?
06:07As an early example of the singer-songwriter genre in the 1950s, Connie Converse's talent as a musician are unfortunately
06:13overshadowed by the peculiar circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
06:21All that can be said for certain is that she had become deeply disillusioned with her career, academic work, and
06:27personal circumstances, and in 1974, she decided to abruptly vanish.
06:31Before disappearing, she wrote farewell-style letters to relatives and friends, apparently announcing plans to start a new life in
06:38New York.
06:39And I do remember her saying to me, at one point, I'd just like to have a job, just a
06:46simple job, a job I don't think about.
06:48She patched her belongings into her Volkswagen Beetle, and left, never to be seen again.
06:53Whether she made it to her destination or not is totally unclear, and we also don't know whether she witnessed
06:58the eventual discovery of her music in her later years.
07:00There's positively got to be someone there to take me home.
07:08What really happened to Bobby Fuller before his death?
07:11Just as the release of the track, I Fought the Law, made him an international success, Bobby Fuller was found
07:16dead at the age of 23 under highly mysterious circumstances.
07:20I needed money cause I had none, I fought the law, and the law won.
07:26The singer was discovered in his mother's car, reportedly beaten and covered with gasoline.
07:31Although the police were initially leaning towards the idea that he had taken his own life, his family rejected this
07:36theory,
07:37claiming that Fuller was excited by his recent fame.
07:39I left my baby and it feels so bad, I guess my race is run.
07:45Some have speculated about the involvement of organized crime, industry figures, romance, and misadventure, but the truth has never come
07:52to light.
07:53We want to know who did it, and why.
07:56Who killed Peter Ivers?
07:57The murder of musician and television host Peter Ivers is one of the darkest and most disturbing unsolved cases in
08:04music, period.
08:10Known for his work with New Wave Theater, David Lynch, and his own recording career, Ivers was a well-respected
08:16artist, despite not being a mainstream star.
08:18On March 3rd, 1983, he was found dead in his apartment, the victim of an attack with a hammer.
08:24The investigation was badly compromised almost immediately.
08:27His murder was unsolved, and the police worked for about a year after his death on trying to come up
08:34with something, and they came up with nothing.
08:36Police failed to secure the loft, friends and acquaintances moved through the scene, and crucial evidence was reportedly mishandled.
08:42To this day, no suspect has ever been identified, nor has any motive been clearly established.
08:52Where did Jim Sullivan disappear in the New Mexico desert?
08:55The disappearance of singer-songwriter Jim Sullivan is an unfortunate tale, a life and career that was cut short after
09:02just two studio albums.
09:03I have decided, apart from you as company.
09:10Sullivan disappeared in 1975, while traveling from Los Angeles toward Nashville, hoping to revive a stalled music career.
09:18After being stopped near Santa Rosa, New Mexico, he stopped into the La Mesa Hotel.
09:22His Volkswagen was later found abandoned at a local ranch, roughly 26 miles away, with his money, papers, clothes, records,
09:30and beloved 12-string guitar still inside.
09:32Due to some of his more outlandish lyrics on his album, UFO, many listeners have speculated that Jim himself may
09:38have been abducted by aliens, or that he had some sort of internal sense of his mysterious fate.
09:43No body was ever found, and while there is a range of theories, there is little to no evidence to
09:48support any of them.
09:54But what do you consider to be the strangest unsolved music mystery in history?
