There's little doubt coffee is a national obsession but that love affair appears to be on shaky ground. Rising cafe prices in Australia amid a cost-of-living crisis is leading to more people staying in for their daily brew.

00:53And in this climate that is unbelievably attractive and that's why it's the fastest growing.
00:59While higher prices may be hard to swallow, the Australian Specialty Coffee Association says we're actually getting off lightly.
01:06Australia has much cheaper coffee than many European countries, despite the fact it's more expensive to make it here.
01:13We're $2 or $3 behind the rest of the world. That's why the cafes are not successful.
01:18There's a family of real person or people behind all of those small businesses that exist in your local neighbourhood.
01:24If you don't support as a consumer in that local geographic, we'll not be there tomorrow.
01:29Which is as good an excuse as any to treat yourself.
