00:00You know what, Molly?
00:00The thing that bugs me really is they give up the goal late, okay,
00:05and it's 1-0.
00:06I just wanted to see the response.
00:08I don't even care what the score ends up being.
00:10The response, it's bang, another goal, and you're kind of just chasing your tail.
00:16I didn't love that.
00:17It was – I want a different response where you can get something out of that game,
00:21not just like, oh, good, 50 minutes, not the best first period.
00:24We kind of built our game, and then, you know, they scored, and it was over.
00:28I can't hear that again all year.
00:32Welcome back to Up in the Blue Seats, your favorite Rangers podcast from the New York Post.
00:37It's Molly Walker, your Rangers beat writer, and former Ranger Brian Boyle, as always.
00:43Happy first week of the NHL season to all who are celebrating.
00:47And the Rangers certainly are, with four games in six nights.
00:52First time we're getting together since they lost their season opener in Boston 3-0
00:59after the Bruins scored three goals, one of which was an empty netter,
01:03in the span of 75 seconds at the end of the third period.
01:07It's the first time in Rangers history they've been shut out in the season opener
01:12in back-to-back seasons.
01:13They lost 3-0 to the Penguins last year.
01:17Brian, how did the team look out there in their first game to you?
01:20What were your highs and your lows?
01:22Oh, sloppy.
01:24Both teams are a bit sloppy.
01:26It was, you know, certainly, it was chaotic a little bit, right?
01:31And to be expected, I guess.
01:33I liked how their game built.
01:34I liked how the third period sort of was looking.
01:39And, you know, you pay attention to certain guys.
01:42I thought it was, Boston was pretty stingy.
01:45And let's take the shiny new toy, Pavaldorf Fab.
01:49I thought he was trying to find different ways to create.
01:52That impressed me at that one wraparound, like sort of a second effort type.
01:57That's all Boston really gave them.
01:59Again, I didn't think they got inside enough.
02:01There was a lot of perimeter.
02:03I thought they defended fine.
02:05I thought Igor was great in the beginning.
02:07You know, throughout, I guess, really.
02:08Yeah.
02:09I was going to say, whole thing.
02:11Yeah.
02:12You know, I thought some of their big guys that I thought would have a chip
02:17on their shoulder, it was not their best to start.
02:19Adam Fox, I'm kind of looking at him.
02:21Didn't play a lot either.
02:22Yeah.
02:24So maybe there's something there.
02:25Who knows?
02:25Hopefully, you know, it's just game one sort of stuff.
02:29And he's such a cerebral, feel-it-out guy.
02:32He can make plays.
02:33But, you know, you need some sort of...
02:37You need some sort of structure.
02:39Yeah.
02:40And the neutral zone structure and some transition things really beat them up.
02:43Yeah.
02:43Neutral zone was terrible.
02:45Yeah.
02:46But which is a thing for them.
02:48Like, that's not...
02:48Yeah, that's not new.
02:50But that's, you know, probably the most discouraging part of it is that, yes, it was a scoreless
02:56game for over 56 minutes.
02:58But the plays that they, you know, fell apart on.
03:02And not only that, but multiple instances throughout the games, the odd man rushes against, it wasn't
03:10even only odd man rushes.
03:12There were a couple of just point-blank breakaways as well.
03:15Yeah.
03:16That just felt very familiar that I think is obviously the most discouraging part of the
03:23first game of the season when everything was supposed to be so different.
03:26But seven new guys in the lineup, first game of the season, short and preseason.
03:32We could probably get into, you know, how we're actually weighing that as an excuse to start
03:37the season a little bit later.
03:38But I am in full agreement with you.
03:42I think the Bjorkstrand-Miller-Dorfev line was my high.
03:46I mean, their numbers looked really good.
03:50Dorfev, game high, five shots on goal.
03:52They had encouraging moments together.
03:54I mean, I've been saying it all preseason that I like Dorfev, Dexter Miller.
03:58Would like to see a little bit more out of Miller and Bjorkstrand.
04:02But...
04:02Bjorkstrand could have finished.
04:03He had some great A's.
04:04Yeah.
04:05Yeah.
04:06Swayman's a good goalie.
04:07But he looked in control, too.
04:09Like, he looked like some of the chances were great A's.
04:12He just, he's such a good goalie.
04:13When he's on his game, it looks easy for him.
04:16Those are good chances.
04:18You know what, Molly?
04:19The thing that bugs me, really, is they give up the goal late, okay?
04:23And it's 1-0.
04:25I just wanted to see the response.
04:27I don't even care what the score ends up being.
04:29The response, it's bang, another goal.
04:32And you're kind of just chasing your tail.
04:35Yeah.
04:36I didn't love that.
04:37It was, I want a different response where you can get something out of that game.
04:41Not just like, oh, good, 50 minutes.
04:43Not the best first period.
04:44We kind of built our game.
04:46And then, you know, they scored and it was over.
04:47But I can't hear that again all year.
04:50Like, I can't.
04:51You got to have some sort of internal, like, some fortitude.
04:56Like, let's stop the bleeding now.
04:58We're not doing this again this year.
04:59And hopefully, like, they can address that in their home opener.
05:03Score a goal.
05:05Yeah, I mean, couldn't have been a worse.
05:08Way to end the first game of the season for Braden Schneider.
05:12It's just getting absolutely walked in that moment.
05:15And he, I wasn't at practice.
05:17I was traveling back from Boston.
05:18But I saw that Andrew Crane, our post writer, he asked him about the play.
05:25And he fully, obviously, acknowledged that it was a bad read on his part.
05:29But just a tough way for him to start the season.
05:33Especially after I had sat down with him earlier in the day.
05:37And, you know, it's an interesting dynamic for him.
05:40Because I feel like, you know, he's on this one-year deal.
05:42It's obviously a movable deal.
05:44It's obviously very dependent on where they're at, you know, at this time.
05:49You know, closer to the trade deadline.
05:52Because one way or the other, I expect them to be very aggressive and, you know, active.
05:58Just in making a move one way or the other.
06:01And, you know, in talking to him, you can kind of sense that he understands that.
06:06But at the same time, he really doesn't want to be remembered the way that it's kind of gotten for
06:13him here in New York.
06:15So that's like a big motivating factor for him is he doesn't want to be thought of, especially the way
06:21the last season went.
06:23So the fact that that was his first highlight, so to say, of the season, highlight reel of the season,
06:29to be on the other end of that is a really tough start for him.
06:34But, and he made the last mistake of that whole sequence.
06:39But there were a number of mistakes in that sequence.
06:43Like there's full control.
06:44Blame to go around.
06:45There's full control to exit your zone.
06:46I think Will Cooley has the puck.
06:47He puts one hand on his stick like he has room and got surprised.
06:52Like you need two hands and you need to move the puck zone to zone.
06:56He needs to just get rid of it.
06:57And I know he wants to be north-south.
06:59He probably has his sights set on 30 goals.
07:04I'm trying to not speak for him, but that's what my mindset would be if I have a couple 20
07:09-goal seasons under my belt as a younger player.
07:12But in that role, which I think he's perfectly suited for, especially early in the year, you've got to be
07:18trusted.
07:18You've got to make the right play.
07:19You're on the ice at that stage of the game in your own end.
07:22And then it just turned into a tire fire.
07:24And guys are running around.
07:27And then they're changing, thinking they have possession.
07:30It doesn't, you know, it's got ugly.
07:33And then obviously Schneider reads that Paterka is going to take him wide.
07:37And, you know, his toes are pointing towards section six instead of, you know, right at the opposing player.
07:44And he just got totally undressed, which is awful.
07:48But for him, he needs to forget about it.
07:50Not worry about how he's going to be remembered.
07:52Worry about like, all right, what's my assignment on the next game?
07:55Simplify, play mean, and go from there.
07:58You really need to, he needs to start from scratch, from Braden Schneider.
08:02Yeah, 100%.
08:03I mean, yeah, like you mentioned, plenty of blames go around.
08:07Gavrikov had that flip pass through the neutral zone that led to the first goal.
08:12So there were, you know, it's the turnovers.
08:14The turnovers and the lack of offense.
08:17The D getting all thrown into a blender.
08:21You don't see that, right?
08:22Yeah, that was also, yeah, that was also a definite low point in my book.
08:27I think the Patterson-Dursey pair had a pretty mixed bag.
08:30I thought Patterson looked a little bit better than Dursey.
08:33But, yeah, I don't know.
08:36I don't know.
08:37It wasn't, it wasn't, it's game one.
08:39Game one.
08:40It is game one.
08:40And I don't know, I don't care about what the analytics, like those are, I thought Smith's
08:47was great.
08:48All things considered, I thought like that kid is ready.
08:51It's hard to, it's hard to judge in a game like that, I thought.
08:55But, yeah, I, you know, there wasn't anything egregious.
08:58He was poised.
08:59He didn't look like he was underwater.
09:02He was poised.
09:02That's like, as an 18-year-old, I'm looking at that.
09:05That's a plus.
09:06That's a plus.
09:07So, I take, yeah, I take Smith's, Schuster again, and the Dorfee line as the biggest
09:14positives to take away from game one, if you're all willing to see the positives.
09:20A couple good shifts from the fourth line.
09:22A couple shifts, they were breathing through a straw.
09:26But, like, there was, it wasn't all negative.
09:29There was some.
09:29No, it wasn't all negative.
09:30It wasn't all negative, yeah.
09:33Some news just broke right before we sat down to record this episode.
09:38Junis Corposalo is going on injured reserve with a lower body injury.
09:42He's considered week-to-week.
09:44And Dylan Garand has been recalled.
09:48So, all that hand-wringing for the two weeks of training camp over the whole back-of-goalie
09:56situation.
09:58An injury right out of the gate.
10:00And Garand is the first recall, as it should be.
10:03And so, you know, it's kind of, the point is moot, you know, at this point.
10:08It doesn't matter anymore.
10:09He's with the team now.
10:11But he was among the final cuts with Taylor Radish and Vincent Iorio, who was hurt, put
10:19on IR to be cap-compliant.
10:21And then they waived him once he was cleared.
10:24But, yeah, I guess, what were your thoughts on the way that the whole Dylan Garand-Corposalo
10:30so-called competition for the backup role panned out?
10:35I think it panned out how probably management and coaching staff thought it was going to.
10:39I mean, that's really, you go out and you get the backup that played some good games, had
10:46some good minutes a season ago.
10:47So, for the reasons that you have, he was going to be the guy.
10:51Corposalo was going to be the guy.
10:53It would take, you know, especially in a camp like this, which is short, it would have taken
10:58a heroic effort or just Corposalo falling off a cliff or anything to be different.
11:04So, they take on that cap hit, they take on that player, but then maybe just more seasoning
11:09for Garand, who wants to just be the guy in the American League.
11:14You've seen these, I've seen a lot of goalies play more than one year in the American League
11:20and have dominant years.
11:22And we saw it actually with Boston.
11:23The reason Boston traded Corposalo is because Di Pietro had done so well in the minors for
11:29so many years.
11:30And that's also a reason they didn't re-sign Busse and why Vladar went out the door to
11:35Calgary and then now in Philly.
11:37And Busse's obviously, you know, shining up his Stanley Cup ring in Carolina.
11:41But Boston's obviously done really well at drafting goalies to the point where they had
11:44to move on.
11:45This time, they just weren't going to with Michael Di Pietro.
11:49They just looked at it like, he's ready.
11:51This is his net.
11:53He is the backup.
11:58Obviously, Garand hasn't had that sort of track record yet in the American League.
12:03And he has looked good in the National League, but he hasn't.
12:06I think a lot of people believe that you have to have that number one for like months and
12:12do well with it.
12:13And that's probably, and I'm speaking again for them.
12:16I don't know exactly how these conversations go, but that's just sort of how it seems to
12:20have shaken out, might be.
12:23Yeah, no.
12:23And the sense that I get from the Rangers organization, people that I've spoke to is that they simply
12:29feel like he needs to be playing a lot.
12:32A hundred percent.
12:33And obviously, the way that he's going to do that is in Hartford because he would obviously
12:38be getting significantly fewer games than Igor Shestrinkin if he was the backup for the
12:43Rangers.
12:45The one counter that I have to the whole track record in Hartford is, it's so hard to judge
12:51that because of how bad Hartford has been in recent years.
12:54Like, it's borderline a disservice not to take that into consideration because it hasn't
13:01just been bad.
13:01It's been really bad.
13:03So you kind of have to take that kind of evaluation, I think.
13:09But, hey, it all worked out the way it was supposed to work out.
13:14He's already back with the Rangers and could get some opportunities here with Raposalo out
13:21week to week, which, yeah, don't know when that injury happened.
13:25Might have been in a practice or I can't imagine it happened on the bench, but, I mean, who knows?
13:32I certainly hope it did not happen on the bench.
13:35That would just be a bad omen.
13:36Yeah, no.
13:38How about the lights going out at practice the other day?
13:41Talk about a bad omen.
13:43Did you see that?
13:44No, I did not.
13:45Let's get rid of these vibes.
13:46I don't like these vibes right now.
13:48It was actually really scary.
13:49I was standing next to Michelle Gingras and it was the darkest room I'd ever been in in
13:57my entire life.
13:58Like, the way that all the lights just went off, it was just like being in a warehouse
14:02with not a single light on.
14:06And everybody's reaction was just, obviously, all the guys on the ice were like, oh!
14:12But, yeah, we were saying with Sullivan, he was like, thank God it was while pucks were
14:16down.
14:17Right.
14:18Dude, it's dangerous.
14:18Yeah, it was really, yeah, for a hot second there, it was kind of like everybody hit the
14:22deck a little bit.
14:23But, yeah, not the vibes that we want to be taking into the season.
14:27But, anyway, Rangers decided to carry 23 into the season.
14:3213 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goalies.
14:35The last time the Rangers carried 8 defensemen out of training camp was the 2021-22 season
14:41when they didn't want to waive Nils Lundqvist or Libor Hayek out of fear of being claimed,
14:47to give you an idea of just how long ago that was.
14:51But among the final cuts, like I mentioned, were Garand, Radish, Iorio, Rempe, and Himelosch
14:58both made the team, Scott Morrow, Matthew Robertson, the 7th and 8th defensemen, and
15:04Smits makes the team, as we've talked about.
15:06He became the first Rangers defenseman in franchise history to make his debut at 18 on opening
15:11night.
15:13Very exciting.
15:14That's crazy.
15:15Yeah.
15:15That's crazy.
15:17And good for him.
15:18And listen, when you have an 18-year-old defenseman, and then you have a kid like Morrow who comes
15:23into camp, and I don't know if he was expected to make the team.
15:30I mean, I don't know if, I'm sure his expectations were there, but he did.
15:35Sorry.
15:37Morrow.
15:37Morrow.
15:38Morrow, yeah.
15:39Yeah, Smits is, yeah, I think that's great.
15:41But because you have the 18-year-old defenseman, and then what Morrow did in camp in the short
15:46time that they had was impressive.
15:48He came in, he was moving better, and different things that I think maybe weren't as expected.
15:54He really impressed, so he earned his right.
15:57And that's, it's like, okay, yeah, you have eight, but you have an 18-year-old who knows
16:02where, and you don't want to do wrong by him.
16:05So if he earns the spot, yes.
16:06But obviously, we've had that conversation, Harry, so we don't need to go there again.
16:12And give, you know, it's a meritocracy.
16:14And if you earn it, good job, he earned it.
16:17And Malash, I think there's a high ceiling there.
16:20I like, I think offensively, certainly a higher ceiling than what you have with Rempe.
16:25And poor Rempe, like, I don't know how many puck touches he's had in the last 18 months
16:31because of what he's had to go through with his thumb.
16:33So he obviously came in skating well, still adds an element, and is working on his game.
16:39I think that's a, it's reasonable to carry 13 and eight like that for those reasons.
16:45Yeah, and Mauro also would have had to have gone on waivers to pass through.
16:50So there was a risk with that, too, that I think they wanted to avoid.
16:55Yeah, I talked to Scott, too, about, you know, the way that last season went.
17:00And he's a highly motivated guy.
17:03He worked a lot on his skating this offseason.
17:07That was, he worked with skating, he stayed in, I mean, he's from Stanford, I think.
17:12But he worked out at the Rangers facility.
17:16That was his choice.
17:17He worked with skating coaches that he had never worked with before
17:20and gave him a whole new perspective on his skating and his strides and things like that.
17:26So he really put in the work to show them that he made the necessary adjustments.
17:31So could see him at some point soon as well.
17:36Yeah, seven different skaters in the Rangers lineup to start making the Rangers debut.
17:43What does Toronto have, 10?
17:44Man, like, you have to make some changes.
17:46And even, like, so what did Glenn say that he used to say?
17:49It's like 15% of the team.
17:51This was back when he was coaching Edmonton to Stanley Cups.
17:54Yeah.
17:54They were winning Stanley Cups and he was changing the team.
17:57So after last year, you're going to make some changes.
18:01That didn't work.
18:02Let's try something different.
18:05And, you know, sometimes one guy can change a franchise.
18:10We saw that, I think, in Florida because some of the pieces were there
18:13and then one guy comes in and it's like, that's the active ingredient.
18:17Matthew Kachuk comes down there.
18:18There's a vibe change.
18:20Yeah.
18:20You get a few different guys coming in.
18:22You know, it just feels fresh.
18:25It feels like a new start.
18:27And, you know, same coach, same management.
18:29But these guys have something to prove as well.
18:32And it's just a different look.
18:34The offense, when it clicks, it'll look different than when it was clicking
18:37in the years past because there's no Panarin.
18:40He just was such a unique player.
18:41But now you have, like, you're adding shooters,
18:44which will complement a north-south game that we hear Mike Sullivan say
18:48all the time.
18:50His favorite.
18:51My question for you is, how much grace are you giving this lineup out of the
18:58gate when you consider not only the new faces but shortened preseason,
19:05less time to prepare?
19:07How much grace are you realistically giving this team out of the gate?
19:11I think, again, it depends on if it fails, sort of how it fails.
19:21So, again, much of the game against Boston was blah, Thursday night football.
19:26Nobody's really ready to play.
19:28And then it looked like they were finding their game.
19:31And then as soon as they got scored on and lost momentum, in game one of 84,
19:36instead of somebody being like, all right, not this year, not tonight,
19:39it was like boom, boom, 3-0.
19:43Yep.
19:44So that was disappointing, right?
19:46That's not – I don't have any time or patience for that because that –
19:50it doesn't matter.
19:50That's in your own – between your own ears as individual players and as a team.
19:55When – if there's miscommunications on a transition player that hits a ref
20:01skate or something weird happens, like I can see why that might not be
20:06recoverable at times.
20:08So you've got to give them some time for that.
20:09But, again, they need to also create those things against the other teams
20:12because it's not like everybody started camp and then the Rangers only had 10 days.
20:17It was across the board.
20:19Right.
20:19And some teams that are veteran, like the Carolinas and the Floridas,
20:22now that they're healthy and the core have been together,
20:25maybe they can get to their game a little quicker.
20:27But, still, there's no excuse.
20:29It's the same for everybody.
20:31Yeah.
20:32I mean, I just – I think my biggest concern was just going without a goal again.
20:39Just starting the season – yeah, starting the season off, getting shut out again.
20:44I mean, I'm naturally going into tonight's home opener.
20:49No matter what, the story is about how bad they were at home last season
20:53and how they are starting their first game at home.
20:58Yeah.
20:59And the numbers are scary, Brian.
21:03Yeah.
21:03They were – they – I need to go over it, like double-check my math
21:08because not my strong suit.
21:10But I counted 135 periods of hockey, including overtime, right,
21:17throughout an entire season.
21:20They didn't score in over 50% of the periods that they had.
21:25Yeah, it felt like that, working games for MSG.
21:29Right?
21:30Like, can confirm.
21:32That's what it felt like.
21:33No, producer, you're here.
21:35So, what do you – what kind of clips do you want?
21:37I'm like, oh, man.
21:40Yeah.
21:40Yeah, no, it's – yeah, you want to – even if you're not scoring,
21:46you want to try to tip the ice in your favor and create, you know, zone time
21:53or whatever it may be.
21:55Make the other team defend.
21:57Yeah.
21:57Not a lot of great A's from them in Boston at all.
22:01Yeah.
22:02At all.
22:03Some stats I saw was like 7-7 and chances 22-22.
22:06It was a pretty even game.
22:08It was.
22:10But quality-wise?
22:12Yeah, I just – well, they got Paterka for two firsts and he put one in.
22:17And, you know, the Rangers got Dorfea for two firsts and he didn't.
22:21He had a couple of nice looks.
22:23He did.
22:23Yeah, I wasn't able to put one in.
22:24And, yeah, it's just – it's just – I also think back to how it obviously
22:30snowballed last year.
22:32Yeah, they can't let it.
22:33Playing at home, when you think about it, like if you get shut out again
22:40or just start the season at home with another shutout loss,
22:46it's just so hard for the guys in that room, I imagine,
22:50who were here last year to not think – well, here we go again.
22:54Was it 10 total shutouts last year?
22:58I honestly –
22:59Like 14 home wins?
23:01Yeah.
23:02Yeah, 14.
23:03They were – I have it right here.
23:04Hang on.
23:05Please hold.
23:06So, I mean, that's just not – that's just not – and look.
23:11They were 14-27 at home.
23:16Like I said, 135 periods of hockey, 69 without a goal, 51.11%.
23:24They did not score a goal in periods that they played at home last year.
23:28That is good math.
23:29You did it.
23:30Thanks.
23:30Thanks.
23:31Wow.
23:32Of course, the 180-plus minutes through the first three games without a goal,
23:38blowing past the 2001-02 Florida Panthers team
23:43for the longest season opening home goalless drought.
23:46Just a wild –
23:48Yeah.
23:48It's not – why are we back there?
23:51Sorry.
23:51They got a goal – they got a score before the first TV timeout.
23:55That's what I'm saying.
23:56So, okay.
23:57So, my question to you, a guy in that room, and you come off of that last season,
24:02how much are you using that?
24:06Are you acknowledging it, you know, using it as much – nothing at all?
24:10You're not saying, like, we have to be animals out there.
24:14I don't know.
24:14You can do that.
24:16I just can't.
24:16You can.
24:16It could get all – I know, all over the place, but still.
24:20Last year when we went 900 minutes without scoring in front of our fans,
24:24we pay a lot of money to go to the state of one.
24:26I don't know.
24:27I just think that –
24:27A lot of scoring goals.
24:29It's got – I feel like something like that, what happened,
24:33and it was so dramatized because it was as bad as it was,
24:38I just feel like something like that could and maybe should be used
24:43as just, like, a lingering reminder every time you go out
24:47on the Madison Square Garden night is that what happened last season can't happen.
24:51It cannot be a cakewalk every time a team comes to New York.
24:56Well, listen, the other thing is, like, it's fun to go to the Garden and play,
25:00especially even as a visitor.
25:01It's fun.
25:02I know.
25:03So, that's a challenge.
25:04But you get to play there.
25:05Especially last year.
25:06Especially last year.
25:07I'm sure that people – it felt like teams were fiending to come in there
25:11and just take a bite of the Rangers.
25:14It's the best.
25:14That's just what it felt like.
25:16And I just feel like when it happens that blatantly,
25:22you almost have to take a stand.
25:24You almost have to send a message this season at home at Madison Square Garden
25:29and in some regard.
25:30Maybe that's just me being a little dramatic, but that's just how I see it.
25:35And if anything less than just a total effort tonight is going to be so disappointing in my book
25:46as the person writing the column tonight.
25:48So, you can read that.
25:50I will have the exact way that I'm thinking about it.
25:53I'll be able to say total unfiltered thoughts.
25:55So, but yeah, it really – yeah, it's Madison Square Garden.
26:01It's your home.
26:02I like it.
26:03Play like it, man.
26:04Play like it.
26:05It's MSG for the visitors.
26:07It is.
26:08Well, take that back.
26:09I know.
26:10Look, here's my – like, I'm from Boston.
26:14I grew up going to Bruins games.
26:16I hated going to the TD Garden because I didn't like playing against the Bruins at home.
26:23They were – they were animals.
26:25To your point, Molly, what you're saying, they were – now, Chara, McQuaid, Thornton.
26:31Yeah.
26:32I mean, you can't –
26:32Again, Lucci.
26:33Yeah, you can't compare.
26:34You can't compare.
26:35Yeah, yeah.
26:36Don't hit anyone too hard.
26:37Otherwise, you've got five guys you've got to fight.
26:38But whatever, you had to rise to that.
26:40Yeah.
26:41And say, all right, I'm at home in front of my family.
26:43And everybody was like, this place is just a hard place to play.
26:46Yeah.
26:47There's no reason it can't be that way.
26:50I know that the personnel is a little different, but the league's different.
26:55They can play a gritty style.
26:57We had that when we were coming up.
27:00We weren't easy to play at home.
27:01You can get excited to play against the Rangers at MSG, but you're going to walk out of there,
27:06you're going to feel it a little bit.
27:08Yeah.
27:08So, regardless of what happens, that can always be in their minds.
27:13Attitude and effort were the two words, the two buzzwords from Mike Sullivan.
27:18It's the only thing you can control.
27:20And we've been telling our kids that since they were mice.
27:24Brian's like, I still deliver that message every Sunday.
27:28No matter what.
27:30Yes.
27:30I mean, that's what I'm looking to see from the Rangers.
27:35Their attitude and effort.
27:36It has to be unshakable.
27:39It has to be an iron fist tonight to just get the good vibes going at Madison Square Garden from
27:47day one.
27:48Anything other than that is just going to be such a disappointment.
27:51And if it's a face plant, I truly, I mean, I don't know.
27:58Maybe I think I'm being dramatic, but, like, I just think it could set them off into such a bad
28:04start to the season.
28:06Yeah.
28:07It's just that they get to play and play and play and play to start.
28:10It's good regardless.
28:12But, look, hey, even if it doesn't start perfect, let's see the response.
28:17That's what I'm looking forward to.
28:19And I guess we'll meet back here next week to discuss what we saw.
28:25So, we'll stop there and wrap it up.
28:28Leave us a comment.
28:29Like and subscribe.

28:43Let us know in the comments.
28:44Please, God, yes.
28:44Please.
28:46Say a prayer, maybe.
28:48And we'll chat again next week.
28:50Can't wait.
