Trump announces $200bn in South Korean energy investment plans

US President Donald Trump announced Wednesday plans for $200 billion in South Korean investments in US energy projects, including $54 billion for a long-planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Alaska that Seoul said it had not yet agreed to invest in.

00:08or 176 billion euros, in energy projects in the U.S.
00:13The plan, however, includes a long-planned $54 billion liquefied natural gas project in Alaska

00:23Today we're thrilled to announce one of the largest energy infrastructure investments in American history
00:29thanks to the agreements my administration has secured with the Republic of Korea.
00:35They will invest up to $200 billion, that's the Korean government,
00:40$200 billion to build a 6 gigawatt power generation facility in Texas.
00:45South Korea had previously agreed to invest in the United States
00:50and increase purchases of U.S. energy under a July 2025 trade deal with Trump
00:56that set 15% tariffs on imports from the East Asian nation.
01:01For the Alaska LNG project, the South Korean president said that Seoul would begin working on it,
01:07provided it was commercially viable and complied with South Korea's legal procedures.
