00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has kicked off the final leg of his first Asian tour since his return to the White House,
00:07arriving in the South Korean city of Gyeongju on Wednesday.
00:11Upon his arrival, he was taken to the venue where the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum was being held
00:18and delivered an address to regional leaders and entrepreneurs.
00:22It comes ahead of heavily anticipated trade talks between Trump and China's President Xi Jinping,
00:27whose disagreements have rattled global markets.
00:31Their talks are scheduled to take place in Busan on Thursday,
00:35in what the world hopes will amount to a deal, ending global trade uncertainties.
00:40Trump, aboard Air Force One en route to South Korea, however,
00:44stressed that he was optimistic this meeting could yield positive results.
00:49Tomorrow morning is the one that most people find most interesting,
00:53and I think we're going to have a great meeting with President Xi of China.
00:57And a lot of problems are going to be solved.
00:59I think we're going to have a very good outcome for our country and for the world, actually.
01:04I think it's important for the world.
01:06Beijing has reciprocated the sentiment.
01:08Shortly after his address at the AIPAC forum, Trump and South Korean officials announced that they had reached
01:27an agreement over their trading relationship, which would lower tariffs on goods imported into the U.S.
01:33Trump had earlier noted that a trade deal was in the final stages, pending a breakthrough on a major sticking point,
01:42Trump's demand that Seoul invest $350 billion in the U.S.
01:46South Korean officials appear to have given in to that demand and will pump $200 billion in investment in cash
01:55to be paid out in $20 billion installments.
01:59The remaining $150 billion will be spent on investments in shipbuilding,
02:04which President Lee Jae-myung has promised to help Trump restore.
02:07Thank you very much.
