00:03In Venezuela, Parliament established the Preliminary Committee to begin the
00:08nomination process for new justices of the Supreme Court of Justice. One of the
00:13agreements reached during the 2015 dialogue between the government and
00:18representatives of the National Assembly. More details with our correspondent
00:22Madalena Garcia.
00:25Which goes beyond the formation of the Preliminary Nominations Committee to
00:28initiate the process that will conclude with the appointment of the new
00:31magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice symbolizes dialogue.
00:39It is the fulfillment of the dialogue because remember that a dialogue is an
00:42agreement that must be honored by both parties and we are obligated to honor
00:49those agreements which benefit us as a country. They benefit us through
00:52institutional strength because what are we seeking? Peace, the consolidation of
00:58the people's well-being, peace and tranquility. I believe that this entire
01:02process we are about to undertake to elect the 32 justices of the Supreme Court is in
01:10line with that first phase of dialogue that concluded last week.
01:16With clear rules of the game, trust is built little by little. For this
01:19selection of new judges, there are more people watching.
01:25I believe it does indeed build more trust because there are more observers and that
01:30oversight. The important thing is that they realize that the process we followed
01:36previously was conducted with complete transparency, without favoritism, without
01:41considering political affiliations, without considering religious affiliations. Here we are going to select
01:46judges who will ultimately be elected by the assembly, because we are a body, because after going through
01:52this body, it goes to the citizens branch and then to the plenary session of the national assembly.
02:01The fact is that the process began with the establishment of the preliminary nominations committee,
02:06which will accept nominations through October 9 to select 12 members of civil society who will
02:10participate in the selection of the 32 justices of the Supreme Court of Justice.
02:17This is part of the dialogue that has taken place in the country and, well, it is the result of
02:25the political commitments that have been made and the agreements that have been reached within the framework of that dialogue.
02:32The first step taken today, I have observed a process marked by a high degree of institutional integrity and respect,
02:39and above all, with a technical and political approach, which is what we need to focus on.
02:45Our first step will be to collect the resumes of those who wish to run as members of civil society
02:50in order to finalize the formation of the nominating committee.
02:56Dialogue is taking shape, and progress is being made on political agreements that pave the way for democratic coexistence
03:01and stability in Venezuela.

03:05Yesterday, when I was very interested in my network and I'm comfortable, I will be quite clear about it in
