00:00Yeah, he said, not a lot of people could pull this off, but I can.
00:06I can.
00:07I'm so sorry.
00:08Ashley Padilla is proving to be a cut above the rest.
00:12Last year on Saturday Night Live, her cringey haircut sketch went viral.
00:165.8 million views on YouTube.
00:18And now this week she landed on the cover for the Time 100 Next List.
00:23With only two full SNL seasons under her belt, Padilla was recognized as one of the world's most influential rising
00:29stars.
00:29Alongside the likes of Rey and Drewski.
00:32The magazine said she logged more screen time than any other cast member during season 51.
00:38And she reached the 100 sketches milestone faster than anyone in the show's history.
00:42Damn.
00:43It's true.
00:44Padilla's meteoric rise is one of the reasons why SNL veteran Chloe Fineman left the show after seven seasons.
00:50Insiders told Page Six that it was the best move because Fineman found herself up against new faces.
00:56A source also told us not everyone clicked with her.
00:59In April, the cast was visibly stunned when Fineman confessed that she was fired as a camp counselor after pantsing
01:05a six-year-old boy.
01:07Amid backlash, Vanity Fair edited the original video.
01:10Oh, funny.
01:11I think you're on a list somewhere.
01:13And he wasn't wearing underpants.
01:15Oh!
01:16And then a giant school bus drove by.
01:18And they were like, you can't, like, cause he would, he would lift my shirt all the time.
01:23Oh.
01:23What is happening?
01:24It was Berkeley.
01:25How old was the child?
01:26He was like six.
01:28And then I yanked his pants down.
01:31He wasn't wearing underwear.
01:31His little ding-a-ling was out.
01:33Well, it's safe to say Padilla is bringing a different energy to the show.
01:37Last week, she was a guest on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, where she revealed that her bad haircut sketch
01:41was part of her audition.
01:43And so was Diane Keaton as one of her celebrity impressions.
01:46And get this, Padilla was actually Keaton's assistant for many years.
01:50The Oscar winner even attended her comedy shows at the Groundlings.
01:53She's so special.
01:55She is.
01:56Yeah.
01:56She's really one in a million.
01:57She's so original.
01:59Like, she had this thing that, how would you describe, how would you describe that thing she had?
02:05That's, like…
02:06Magic.
02:07Yeah.
02:07Yeah, it's freaky.
02:09Very special.
02:10She just floated around like a butterfly.
02:13She was like a butterfly.
02:14And she really was, even working with her, she was like, oh, look at this.
02:17Like, she taught me to see the world around me.
02:20Padilla said Keaton kept a childlike wonder even into her 70s.
02:24The beloved actress and style icon passed away last October at the age of 79.
02:29Padilla seems to be following in her mentor's footsteps.
02:32In June, she was in good company taking home the Breakout Artist Award at the Newport Beach TV Fest.
02:38Then in August, she was spotted in Brooklyn with stand-up comic Chris Fleming filming the rom-com The Catch.
02:44The 33-year-old comedian has a knack for playing women barely holding on.
02:48From everyday moms to larger-than-life political figures.
02:52And we can't forget her insane character, Kathy.
02:55We talkin' TV?
02:56Padilla described her comedy as very stupid and said she likes playing the idiot who takes everything too seriously.
03:03Well, we can't wait to see what she does next.
03:05Dakota Johnson hosts the next episode of SNL on October 3rd.
03:09Hi, I'm Dakota Johnson and I'll be hosting SNL this week with musical guest Turnstyle.
03:13This is your third time hosting? This is my third season? We're kinda like twins, don't you think?
03:19Have you ever skinned a goat with your bare hands?
03:23No.
03:25Then you and I are nothing alike.
03:26Then you and I are nothing alike.
