Some beach days come with a reminder that the water has its own rules.

The camera looks along the wet sand at the waterline, where numerous Portuguese men o’ war sit in the shallows and wash up in clusters. Their translucent bodies and blue-purple floats are visible as small waves roll in and out, leaving more of them scattered across the edge of the surf.

“I filmed this video at La Zurriola Beach in San Sebastián, Spain, on August 4, 2026. A large number of Portuguese man o’ war had gathered close to the shore, creating a rare and striking scene. I recorded it because I had never seen so many of them together in such shallow water. They can be quite dangerous,” the filmer, Ivan, told WooGlobe.

In a place usually defined by open water and empty shoreline, the concentrated presence of wildlife shifts the scene into something closer to a natural warning.

The moment reads as both a striking sight and a practical reason to keep a careful distance.
