Humanity is often called a “Type 0.73 civilization.” But the familiar version of the Kardashev scale is not exactly the scale Nikolai Kardashev published in 1964 — and that correction makes the story more interesting, not less.
This evidence-led documentary begins with CTA 102, the mysterious radio source once discussed as a possible alien signal. We follow Kardashev’s original world-star-galaxy ladder, Carl Sagan’s continuous scale, the difference between the original and modern Type I benchmarks, and the latest global-energy number behind humanity’s score. Then we ask what a Dyson swarm would really reveal, why waste heat matters, and why the galaxy remains uncomfortably quiet.
