00:10payments totalling about 42 million ringgit. A source said the man in his 50s was arrested
00:17at about 1pm yesterday at his residence in the Klang Valley. Preliminary investigations found
00:23that the suspect allegedly committed the offences in 2017 by making operating expense payments to
00:29several companies he was believed to have interests in. The arrest follows an M.A.C.C investigation
00:35into losses suffered by U.I.T.M. Holdings Sindirian Berhad in 2023. M.A.C.C Chief Commissioner
00:42Abdul Halim Aman confirmed the arrest, explaining that the case is being investigated under Section
00:4823 of the M.A.C.C Act 2009 for abuse of power. Abdul Halim had previously noted that the
00:55U.I.T.M.
00:56Holdings investigation involved a 42 million ringgit payment linked to a 50 megawatt solar
01:02project in Gambang, Pahang. He added that the money was allegedly used for purposes unrelated to the
01:08solar project, with the payment made without approval from the U.I.T.M. Holdings Board.
