NASCAR driver Corey Heim became the center of attention after a heated incident following Saturday night’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway.
Heim was racing Treyten Lapcevich in the late-model event when the two made contact after the checkered flag. Heim’s car went up the track, spun Lapcevich and briefly went airborne over his hood, turning an already intense finish into a tense post-race confrontation.
Later, near the famous Martinsville hot dog stand, Heim was involved in an altercation with members of the Chad Bryant Racing team. Video circulating online appeared to show Heim being struck multiple times while wearing a helmet. He did not appear to fight back.
Heim later addressed the incident on X with a lighthearted comment and a photo showing himself apparently uninjured.
The confrontation has sparked discussion among racing fans, particularly because Heim is set to join 23XI Racing’s Cup Series lineup next season. Meanwhile, Kyle Larson won at Kansas after leading 235 of 267 laps, while the recent Carson Hocevar-Ryan Blaney feud appeared to cool down considerably.
The Martinsville incident remains one of the weekend’s biggest NASCAR talking points.
