00:07Two giant pandas are now in Atlanta.
00:10Pingping and Fu Shuang arrived Sunday morning aboard the FedEx Panda Express,
00:15and they're now settling into their new home at Zoo Atlanta.
00:19Zoo officials say they've expanded the panda facilities,
00:21and they're making sure there's plenty of local bamboo on the menu.
00:25We collaborated with our colleagues from the panda base to make our facilities bigger,
00:31so we make more space for pandas.
00:34We also want to ensure that they have good food, good bamboo,
00:39so we're collecting a lot of bamboo from the Atlanta area to make sure that they have plenty of food
00:45to eat.
00:46The two arrivals bring giant pandas back to Atlanta for the first time since the zoo's last four returned to
00:52China in 2024.
00:53And yes, this is another round of what's long been called panda diplomacy.
00:59China has used the bears for decades as a gesture of goodwill,
01:02and Xi called this pair envoys of friendship between the Chinese and American people.
01:08You'll have to wait a little while to meet them.
01:10Pingping and Fu Shuang will spend about a month in quarantine,
01:13and the zoo hasn't announced their public debut just yet.
01:17Once they're out, though, they'll have plenty of time to get comfortable.
01:21They're on loan to Atlanta for the next 10 years,
01:25and as an addition, we can't see them just yet,
01:28but Zoo Atlanta has already set up a panda cam,
01:31something you'll want to bookmark for when they make their debut.
